This small but stocked supermarket probably has everything you need for your next Mexican dinner! It's near-impossible to find specific chile powders at the standard grocers in Lincoln, but Guerrero has a Mi Costeñita rack jam packed with the usual Hispanic ingredients. Wander around the store so you find the little side- and end-caps that have even more products to add to the collection. They stock dried tamarind pods, piloncillo, an entire aisle of hot sauce, and the necessary items for your next recipe. There's a hefty fresh and frozen meat selection, and a modest amount of pre-cooked meats as well. This is between Nevería Arcoiris and a Pan Dulce shop, so you can even pick up dessert on your trip!

The main reason I will shop here is to buy Mexican products I can't find at Walmart/ super saver, everything is over priced. I would not recommend doing your grocery shopping here. I've also bought items & come home to realize they are expired. There is a $10 minimum requirement for credit/ debit cards. Don't be surprised when the cashiers check your cash for counterfeit bills. The cashiers are very rude & make you feel rushed during checkout, BUT the rest of the staff is polite & happy to help you.

Good selection of Mexican items. But a heavy over reliance on processed foods. My opinion is that that happens in many Mexican shops, esp in urban places, in the U.S. In some stores I've been to in very ghetto areas of l.a. or new york ...even the Hot Cheetos are stale! This store is not that bad, at that level, but some of their frozen stuff is definitely past its shelf life..

This used to be a very inexpensive and convenient place to grab some veggies and sundries in a pinch. I would say I came here on average twice per week. Over the last four years their produce price has increased by 3-4 times. The people in the neighborhood are vastly at poverty level and have a hard time paying the cost for fresh(ish) food. The produce here is a lower grade which makes the increased prices even more ridiculous. When the prices were low, b and c grade produce was acceptable. The produce is often unripe (picked way too early), oily, very bruised or even moldy. I've also noticed they don't put items on sale nor do the prices fluctuate with the market...prices are set. I hope they will reconsider the way they are conducting business and stop taking advantage of the poor neighborhood who supports them. These people have limited resources and transportation to get to (much cheaper prices at say, even Leon's or Fresh Thymes). As an example, bleached out grainy tomatoes at Guerrero are $1.98 per pound today. Today at Leon's, the red hothouse tomatoes were $0.68per pound. I now come to Guerrero at max, twice per month. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. On top of the price gouging, the checkers have gotten increasingly rude, bitchy and snarly.

On Saturday they have a carniceria that offers barbacoa, carnitas, and homemade tortillas. My BF and I picked some up and were absolutely thrilled with how good everything was. We just returned from a taco pilgrimage in Austin and Gerrero's stacks right up there. Don't be shy or timid, go in and try it!
