Green Onion Lounge

I'm gonna start by saying that I'm a sucker for a dark low bar, and i gotta say the Grunion ™, fits that model in spades. Opened in 1968, and probably last redecorated in the 70s, this no frills dive cocktail lounge is an omaha institution that's been around almost twice as long as I have. The service is what you expect from all good dive bars, and the prices are in the same boat. You can have a good night here for not a lot of coin. My only complaint as a midtown resident is its a little too far west for me to frequent.

I've been coming here for 20 years. In my 20s, I came because they served the strongest drinks in town, then my friends and I would hop on over to Nico for a night of dancing. Now, l look at the Onion as kind of an iconic bar in Omaha. Can I tell you what their "secret sauce" is for success? I sure can't but it's stood the test of time and a place you find yourself wanting to come back to for the nostalgia of it all. No craft cocktails here, just no nonsense drinks and a nice time.

Usually a 5 star experience, but not the other day. Lazy ass waitress didn't come out from behind the bar to serve us, made us get up each time to get our drinks. Before you judge...She was by herself, but there were 6 other people in the entire place.

I can't with this place. It is legitimately everything you want in a bar. It's comfortable, cozy, amazing service (Mandy, you deserve a raise!), and overall, I would drive from KC just to hang out here again. Actually, I will never come back to Omaha without visiting this bar. Thank you for the warm environment, the old school, classic bar vibes, the honorary bartender Carlos, and the best Saturday fun-day ever.

Unreal bar! Good vibes & amazing service. It's an Omaha staple! The bar has been open since 1969, so that says something! Super comfy chairs.

Super fun atmosphere-- really weird name. But not holding it against them because it brought me in! Nice night to sit by the fire and have a few drinks. Lots of tvs to watch games and comfortable seating. Nice local bar!

I liked this bar. Great place to meet up with a friend for a drink or two, but don't expect food as this is a drinks only bar. The bartender was nice and provided great service. The drinks are stiff...so sip slowly! We ordered a salted nut roll shot recommended by someone at the bar and they were delicious! Give this bar a try!

My friend and I went in on a very busy night but Amanda and the other bartender got to us as soon as they could and we're very attentive to us! 10/10 would recommend!
