Whether it's Frisbee golf camping running hiking or bicycling, there's always something to do here! A Corps of Engineers park that has been thoroughly restored, offering a marina, barbecue spots, and boat rentals for the lake. The 10 km path around the lake is perfect for relaxing or working out. Cannot say enough positive things about this location. A pretty and restful spot just outside the city.

If it wasn't for moving out to this area of town I probably wouldn't have a clue that this beautiful lake and park existed. Of course, I've seen the sign along the highway and my boyfriend had mentioned it before but none of that made much of an impression as the actual place did. Our first visit here was to break in our new bicycles. We entered on the west side of the lake where there is a pier for boats. There is another pier on the other side of the lake close to the camp ground but where we entered it was near a nice covered picnic area. We rode our bikes along the path twice here and enjoyed every bit of it. Since then I've gone a few times with my bike to ride and I loved every second of it. The staff here does a great job maintaining the path, piers, frisbee golf area and the ensuring the trash cans are all taken care of. I haven't camped on their campground yet but it always looks to be pretty tidy. I know my nephew has stayed there for a cub scout camp weekend and I didn't hear any complaints from their experience. One of the things I like about this area is there is a designated day camp area, they also have a lot of events going on here. I've noticed a couple of triathlons here. I appreciate having this gorgeous lake, park, camp area, close by and well kept. It is such a hidden gem just on the other side of the highway. I look forward to spring and summer next year to break out our bicycles again and maybe even spend a weekend camping here. If you have yet to check this lake out I highly recommend that you do! The path is almost seven miles with a good amount of benches along the way so you can also just sit back, relax, and enjoy being amongst nature!

My wife and I have camped at the West C Campground multiple times. It's fantastic! Large lots, quiet, extremely well-maintained. Near the lake, near the bike trail, etc. We'll definitely keep camping here.

We took our boys for a walk around the lake. There were signs for a playground and "scenic overlook" but we were disappointed when we couldn't find either! The trail was pretty rough and needs some maintenance. There were several people fishing, and two couples riding horses. Some others were out with their dogs. We only saw one jogger and zero bikers, due to the uneven trails I'm sure.

If you want to try to go to sleep to the sound of kids yelling on the playground, various groups music, cackling laughter, loud bass cars constantly driving by, at 11:30 at night, then this is the place for you. It's especially great if you are bringing your young kids camping for the first time so they can be awake alright. Enjoy no respect for other people and zero accountability from whomever it is that we paid for this campsite. Also, definitely bring table clothes and something to sit on if you want to use the rotting, paint peeling, falling apart picnic tables. I go camping a lot and it's not unusual to have a couple of groups like that, but I guess I normally stay where there is park officials patrolling and keeping groups quieter. Ugh.

This is the closest lake to our home so we have been here a lot. Usually we come here to fish and we have ran the trail a couple of times. The fishing isn't the best but we catch a lot of baby rock bass and baby crappie but always throw them back. My husband caught a good size bass one time and I've caught a walleye that was a good size. Today we went fishing with our sons and on the walk to our usual spot it literally smelt like feces. It was disgusting. When we got settled and started fishing I started to notice all the trash! It was all over the place. It irritates me a lot that people don't have respect for their surroundings. There were countless beer bottles and cans, a mystery bag that was abandoned and even a shoe in the water. A shoe! Some people...Needless to say we literally caught nothing after two hours so we just went home. The whole area smelt HORRIBLE today and the water was pretty green when it usually isn't. I really hope this place gets cleaned up or I won't be back.

This could be a fantastic lake and all-recreational area. All it needs is some decent maintenance. Except for the week leading up to the Omaha Triathlon (July), it seems Omaha Parks & Rec pretty much ignores this place. For example, the beach could easily be expanded and lined with fine grain sand. As it now stands, it's overgrown with weeds and full of jagged rocks. People use the beach every day during the summer, so the demand is definitely there. I also love that there's a disc golf course here -- what a potentially great use of the land -- but it's also in sad shape (i.e., overgrown and missing about 10 baskets). The lake itself is the big draw, of course. On Labor Day, it was bustling with activity: kids swimming, old dudes fishing or other folks out on kayaks and sail boats. I could see a lot more people enjoying this park regularly with a few minor improvements and consistent maintenance. I mean I know they drained the entire thing, cleaned it up and refilled it. Let's invest a little more time and effort and make Cunningham one of the best parks in the city -- it could easily be done.

Hate the new reservation system, people are not following the rules and way to many people camping for free because no one is patrolling it, tired of reserving our spot then fighting to get people off of it

I wouldn't suggest staying here at all, I just didn't like the surroundings or anything they had to offer. The bathrooms were constantly trashed and not taken care of. People were not respectful of others at night time. You can rent water boards over by the beach that is run by a differnt company and i would say is the only thing they really offer here. You can not swim in the lake or the cops will be called. The cops would come and clear the lake and not even 10 minutes after they would leave the lake would be full again. They would probably make a profit if they treated the lake and let people swim in it. The lake is huge i mean come on already. I should have just went to two rivers and had a better time. Now I know for next time. I wont come back here to camp.
