Get Real Sandwiches

Wow--what a find! This place is really good!Whether you're seeking a unique sandwich experience or a hearty weekend brunch, Get Real Sandwiches offers a welcoming atmosphere and a menu that promises to satisfy. Highly recommended the Fluffhead on the brunch menu (...chef's kiss)....as well as the Smoked Salmon Hash and the Jaco Pesto-Rius. Pair it up with bottomless Mimosas and you're set. Top it off with great service from the staff and you can't go wrong with this place.

My husband and I visited Get Real this weekend because he was dying to try the Korean Reuben for the Blackstone Reuben contest. He ordered that sandwich and I ordered the grilled cheese, which I had had before and loved. Additionally, we ordered pecorino fries to share. I tried to order a Diet Coke or Pepsi to cure my killer caffeine headache, but the only non-alcoholic drinks available were La Croix, Sprite, or Root Beer. Our fries came out first. They were decent, but a little starchy for my taste. I did love the spicy aoili sauce. My husband ended up LOVING his sandwich. He asked me later "do you think we will ever get a Get Real out west?" Clear to see it stayed on his mind.However, my grilled cheese tasted like...nothing. For having three types of cheeses, it was incredibly bland. The whole grain honey mustard was nowhere to be found, and the pickles I added were still just cucumbers. I was incredibly disappointed. I also ordered the sweet potato soup on the side, which did not impress me. So, kind of a mixed bag here. I will definitely be back, but I will not get the grilled cheese again.

Luckily when I first moved to Omaha this place showed up on door dash and it was our move in delivery lunch. I remember thinking whoa...I wonder if all the food in Omaha is this good. The turkey sandwich is INSANE. I'm not usually a fan of ciabatta because I always think it's going to be hard and scratch the roof of my mouth but Get Real toasts the bun like a magician and the bread is soft while perfectly crispy. The pecorino fries also slap. Have never had a meal here I didn't enjoy and the staff are always so kind. We walk with our dogs every now and then and eat on the patio with them. They provide a water bowl for the pups too.

Casual and kind service with great food! We got there a little before lunch time -- after that their rush came in and lasted a bit after noon!

The cubano was DELICIOUS!! I got it with fries and a side of ranch. I have to say, the ranch was one of my favorite parts, it was SO good. I also got the bloody mary, which was a bit spicy for my taste.The service was super friendly too!

This is always a 10/10 every time we come! Be prepared to wait just a little longer if you come at a busy time like during weekend brunch or dinner, but it's so worth it! We've tried so many different things here, menu sandwiches, specials, fries, poutine, you can't go wrong with whatever sounds good to you at that time. Try something different the next time! Included today are the cubano sandwich and Bloody Mary, my husband gets the Cubano almost every time because it's that good. I got the smoked pulled pork topped with a pickle, bbq, and willowy, crispy fried onions. There's always been plenty of seating, even when they're busy. You can get a hot sauce to go if you happen to fall in love with it like we did!

The atmosphere here was super cool and comfy with the wood benches and tables and pillows throughout. Staff were friendly and everything was clean. The downer was we both had the chicken sandwich and it was seasoned really well but it was a really big chicken thigh and was a little chewy. I think a chicken breast is the norm amongst chicken sandwiches so it was a bummer that the quality of the sandwich was not as good as others. I know some prefer it but on the sandwich it was rubbery and dark meat.

After a meeting in Omaha I headed over to Get Real for a sandwich before my drive back to Lincoln. Getting to the sandwich shop from UNMC was trickier than it should have been due to all the construction on Farnham Street. Once there I enjoyed their ambience, the lighting and color scheme were nice and the shop (at 4:30 p.m. on a Friday) was mostly deserted. I ordered the Smoky chicken sandwich and a bowl of sweet potato soup. Get Real shares a bathroom with The bar next door, they were mostly out of soap when I went in to wash my hands but otherwise the bathrooms were fine. The staff were kind and brought my order out a few minutes after I returned from the restroom. I had to eat the soup first while the sandwich cooled down as it was made fresh and was super hot. The meat was a bit stringy in a few places. The sauce was good fine but not very 'smokey' it could have been spicier or a spicy option would have been nice...but it is Nebraska after all. The part that got me was the pickle, there wasn't enough pickle or pickle flavor, I think it's what makes a chicken sandwich of this type really stand out. If I went back I would ask for triple the pickles, just a cup of soup, and something spicy to add to the sandwich and soup which would bump the experience up to four stars.

Every time I come back I love it more! So many great vegetarian options. Crunchy fries. Tasty sides. Delish cocktails. My go to is the carrot sandwich or the soups. The staff working is always very friendly!

Service was very very very slow... like 45 min for two sandwiches and soup... and they were out of fries. Sandwiches were ok, but not to justify the 45 min wait. Maybe they were short staffed.
