What a fun library! We were visiting Lincoln for doctor appointments and had time to kill. We had a lot of fun playing with the train toys and the blocks. So many children's books compared to our local library even. All the librarians we spoke with were really nice. They also have board games and crayons and such for children to play with. I wish there were more comfortable chairs to cuddle up in and read a book together but we had fun.

I have many fond memories of Gere when I was a kid. It's a lot bigger than it was then; it was at one time the second-most utilized Lincoln library after the Bennett Martin branch downtown, so they've expanded.Computers available; wireless available. Also many nice nooks to just curl up and read a book, and there are enough good ones that if jobhunting on the computers has you down, you can reach out, grab one, and just sit and read awhile.

I love public libraries and am a regular library patron. However, as someone who has spent much of my life in other cities with different library systems, I must say that the Lincoln City Libraries system just doesn't stack up. This isn't the fault of the library staff or system itself. It's probably a victim of limited funding. But compared to the other significantly smaller, non-university town where I grew up, the library system here doesn't offer nearly as much. The selection of new books is pretty limited, the facilities look a little beat up like they need renovation, and there aren't that many ebook options online. Sure, it's better than nothing, and I appreciate that it provides a valuable service. I just wish that I could find one book I decided to search for in the library.

Great local library. The 2nd largest library in Lincoln with plenty of parking, lots of books in stock and they have private study rooms which are great if you need to get some work done in a quiet atmosphere. They also have free wifi and public computers you can use if you need to. Huge selection of audio-books and children's books makes this one of the best library's in Lincoln.

I love libraries. I work at one, though not in Lincoln. I love Gere not just because it lets me borrow books to read without actually buying them, but also because it's a community institution. There are programs for kids that reward them for reading, really interesting stuff in the kids section for every kind of kid, Bill Nye videos, computer games, music, private studying rooms, and much more. In terms of libraries (condition of books, hours, facilites, etc.) Gere might not be the best, but it is integral as a community hub and functions extremely well in that aspect. It has done well adapting to the digital age with computers and wireless available, too.

If you love to read but don't always have the cash to buy a new book, the library is an excellent resource. The interlibrary loan program almost guarantees you can get every book that's in print. I've been going to Gere since I was a kid and now my wife and I bring our son here. Great library.

Nice library; rude staff. My partner and I had to use a computer to print off some paperwork...every single computer we sat at, a lady came by and told us we couldn't use because they were "out of service and the Internet was not working" even when I was logged in and using the Internet on it as she spoke. It could be a crazy coincidence that every computer that was open (even ones others had just used) didn't work...but we definitely felt unwelcome and her tone when she spoke to us was really rude. I don't know what we could have done that would have warranted that. All we wanted to do was get some paperwork done, now we're driving around trying to find another place to accomplish what should have been a simple task.

I grew up coming to here and have always been met with kindness! They always have a great selection of media to choose from and the kindest employees. To top it off, today Wyatt called me and informed me that he and another employee found a wallet of mine that had been stolen. To reach out to me is a step above and beyond in my eyes. Thank you so much for continuing to be great to this community!!
