Fuel Mart

On 04 September, I fueled at this convenience store. The gas hose would not turn off immediately, as is normally the case when a pump hose/shutoff is operating correctly. The result was that the gas flow diminished, but dripped gasoline all over the side of my vehicle as well as my hand. I filled the vehicle, shut it off, waited, and the hose continued a trickle of gas until it was put back into the pump receiver. I reported it to the operator who told me that I probably didn't have it shut off! After over 55 years of using gas pumps, I know when a pump nozzle shutoff is working correctly. The operator basically ignored my report, and wrote it off as just another dumb tourist, or someone who was asking him to fix something that he knew could not be fixed. Wrong answer. The pump should have been put out of service, and reported for a check-up and maintenance if needed. The rude operator ignored the request and let a safety violation go unchecked. A big no-no in the gas service industry!
