Best carrot cake ever! Service was great too; comfy seating to enjoy time with friends

We have attempted to try this place out 3 other times. They are closed on Mondays and the other two attempts had signs on the door saying they had power issues so were closed. Should have trusted my gut on this one. When we arrived I stood in front of the cashier and sign that said to wait to be seated for over 10 minutes while the women at the register visited. Finally I waved at them to ask them if I could be seated. The main woman rolled her eyes and told me to give my name and take a seat they will get with me soon. We sat over 30 minutes watching other groups walk in and have them get seated right away before us. There are no reservations taken at this restaurant so I was getting frustrated seeing this. When my family was finally seated my arms stuck to the table as it was super sticky and not cleaned well. My daughter and I both ordered the steak tips. We both ordered medium rare and all were brought to us well done. All our potatoes were super dry. We didn't complain as we never saw our waitress again until we had to flag her down to get our ticket. My husband ordered the NY strip medium rare and it was medium well. If you want a good steak or service this is probably not the best place in town to get that. Very disappointed.

Perfect place for state journalism lunch. It's fun to just let the kids choose the place. The Popeyes chicken sandwich was a good pick. And another kid said that the chili is good. The turkey avocado club was another kid's choice. And she said it was good too. There was some sadness that was hey we're out of sweet potato fries. I think it is a place that will be offered as a choice to the next group of students at state journalism. We got right in to a table and all ages were represented at this establishment. Give it a shot. The prices are good and the food was enjoyed at the table.

Good, solid food with something for everyone. Stopped in on the tail end of a 10 hour day of driving home on a road trip, and our party of 10 left happy with full stomachs. The waiter was absolutely fantastic, checking on our table often to refill waters and see if anyone needed anything, and patiently and happily chatting with the kids of the group, who were very excited to find a Pokémon fan (the kids had some Pokemon themed gear on). I had the Reuben burger--delicious and flavorful without being too salty, and a well cooked burger. My relatives enjoyed their meals as well--they had a variety with salads, chicken sandwiches, and pasta. Restaurant was clean and well taken care of too. Great place to stop in, made even better by the wonderful service.

Order the beef tips! Franklins is my favorite place to dine in Norfolk. I have tried other items on the menu and all have been delicious, but I LOVE their beef tips. Service is good. Prices are fair for the excellent quality of food received.

Came into Franklins on 2 PM on a Thursday, was afraid they might be closed so I checked with my yelp app to see if they were open. They were and I was better for it. I started with avocado egg rolls that came with a great soy reduction- really hit the spot and came out quickly.Next I ordered the Asian Salmon plate which came with soup, side and a baguette. The chili was excelled but the sautéed veggies were a bit too greasy for my liking. The salmon was crisp and flaky just the way I like it. Will definitely be stopping back here when on the road through Norfolk again!

Very Very Good Food. I have never had a bad meal here the Owners started baileys bistro years ago and when they left it went diwn hill and keeps falling. When Al & Donna opened Franklins all there loyal Customers came there and have never looked back.Beef Tips are the Best anywhere, Seaks are very good, Thunderbird Salad, The Katie Melt, Chicken Fetichini Alfrado is what olive garden with theres was hands down the BEST!!!

Great mom and pop eatery. Every small community has a hidden diamond, this is Norfolk's diamond

One star cuz I can't rate zero. The owner is a piece of work. Wait staff failed to bring me the proper dish and the owner started trying to accuse me of ordering wrong as the problem.

The food and staff are top notch!! Some of the best Prime Rib I have had!! Happy hour is a great deal as well with half price apps!! Love the desert menu as well!
