This is specifically a review about the Living History weekends.I highly suggest visiting during a living history weekend. There are many people in period costume. We sat in the fort's school room and got quizzed on things from the time period, look around a carpenter's shop, helped press apples for cider, visited the general store, spoke to an archeologist working to uncover the orginal blacksmith shop, witnessed a canon firing, and so much more.

Just a short drive from Omaha and on the way to Boyer Chute this park offers a glimpse into history. The park is nice and quiet. It is interesting to see the sizable outpost and some of the exhibits of past military history. I happened to stop by just to check it out. There are events here at certain times. If you plan to go I would suggest planning ahead. I was there and had the place pretty much to myself. There weren't any events so I walked the grounds. The park is well maintained and there are picnic benches to sit down and enjoy a quiet meal.
