Ahh... pretty sure I'd categorize this place under "Scam" and "Do not want".It blows my mind that they were advertised on CNN and CNBC. I call BS.Ok so, my bf's birthday was coming up, and what do you get the man who has everything/me? (jk). No but really, he's hard to buy for. Especially since he really does have everything and I try so hard to be creative but functional with gift-giving. As someone who has had positive experiences dabbling in subscription boxes, I came across this masculine midwest man box - Freshwater Lure of the Month. I don't know too much about the costs of fishing, because I just mooch off my man, which may be why I got duped. I thought $53 for 3mos of presumably high-quality fishing gear arriving mysteriously at your doorstep would be worth it. NOPE. And I was so proud of myself, I told everyone about the awesome gift I picked out and how I totally earned myself an awesome birthday gift in return. Lol. No.I bought this 3-month subscription in April, and was advised that we'd get the April box (my BF's bday was May 3rd). By May 5th the April Box had not arrived, so I contacted customer service. They finally sent it out. The "April" box arrived May 8th. Excited and proud of myself, I eagerly watched him open the first surprise lure box that was long overdue. What a F'ing joke. It was seriously almost funny. A I'm-laughing-on-the-outside but stabbing-myself-on-the-inside kind of funny. The first tiny $18 box contained a $2.99 value lure with an introductory card containing spelling errors. Maybe next month will be better??By June 2nd I had not received the May Box. I emailed customer service that I was ready for a refund. They offered giving me a month or two free, but I kindly clarified that I do not like the service and lures. PLEASE don't send me more. On June 6th, Becky apologized for our disappointment and advised that she had issued me a refund to my paypal account. 4 days later, after seeing no pending activity in my paypal account, I emailed her again. She then said that the founder is actually the only person who can authorize a refund. Because customer service apparently cannot service customers? Oh, and David just got married so he's unavailable. She said he'd be back from his honeymoon next week and will issue the refund. I emailed the next week - he was still unavailable. Meanwhile we got another lure box, super late, and it was another cheap lure (under $5) that was not even in a package. The lure was just free-balling it, hooks out and everything. Long story short, it took almost 3 weeks to get my money back. I'm just grateful I finally did. And I'm back to formulating the perfect birthday gift.

Six months ago, I bought a 6-month subscription for my husband and he has only received three lures so far. Each month I have to send an email to the company inquiring as to where the lures are. Occasionally I will receive a response, but more often than not it's the automated, "We've assigned you a ticket number and will be in touch in 24 hours." When you call the number, it goes to an unprofessional-sounding voice mailbox. I keep thinking this company has got to be a scam, but at the same time, I have received three lures (although not the six I should have received by now), so clearly, someone is doing something over there. They're just doing it very poorly.

if i could put a negative rating i would. its almost june 2018. since xmas (this was a gift) i received only 1 lure. i have left 10 messages and emails - no response. this is a "scam" and waste of your money.

I had or am having a similar experience to Kara D's review. My wife purchased it for me but she spent the big buck and got 6 months of cheap lures that have either been very late or not showed up at all. I contacted them about a refund. They said they would work on it. I contacted them again they said they had canceled the shipping but haven't been able to issue a refund. I am assuming we are duped out of the $ and lures. As I pointed out in a communication with fishing enthusiast they have a great business model. get people to pay them money and do not give them anything in return.

I ordered freshwater lures for my son for Christmas. Tried to contact this company for weeks with no response from them. I received a lure for fly fishing. I paid $96.00 for the subscription. I have never had a response to my inquiries. Their phone rings twice and then clicks off. I feel they took my money and have no intention of honoring my order. I wouldn't deal with them ever again. I have asked for a refund without any response. Beware.
