*If you or someone else has experienced unethical treatment from this practice you can report to BBB under the name Baird Holm LLP* Please do not waste your time with this practice. The admin staff act as gatekeepers and as others said - LITERALLY TELL YOU TO GO ELSEWHERE FOR ASKING QUESTIONS. If you have a thought in your mind, or an opinion in your heart do not go here. After waiting 4 months to be a new patient I am appalled how this practice runs. My appt happened to be during a snow storm, I called in the morning to make sure they were open. I called back to see how long the appt would be in fears of getting stuck in snow. They told me i canceled my appt - even tho I did not request to cancel. Then after asking questions like how long is an appt, what will be done during the physical, the admin put me on hold to talk to the doctor and came back to tell me to go elsewhere. I should have listened to the other reviews - this is a conservative practice that doesn't allow patient input. Thank you to the clinic for pushing me away, as clearly you're in the business to make people feel worse, not better. Message to doctors - your staff is costing you patients and your reputation. Open your eyes, you can dismiss a couple bad reviews but this is clearly a routine here.

I was a patient of Dr Kester's for years but haven't had the need to see a primary for several years. I called to schedule a check up and was told that I couldn't get in for 2 months. I then left a message with her nurse asking if one of her associates could see me sooner. I got a call back and was told since I haven't been in for so long, I would be considered a new patient and Dr Kester is no longer taking new patients. Which is it? Schedule for April or no longer taking patients? Very strange..

I went to Dr Angela Law for almost 10 years without issues. She was my family doctor as well as my daughter's first and only pediatrician until last year. We used to love seeing her! Even as I write this, I have a hard time believing how she became so dismissive, disrespectful & unprofessional. But it happened. After ten years. Just in the last year, the staff seemed to decline & become very disrespectful. I hated going there, but I was tired of drs, so switching seemed too much for me at that time. But I was going thru some mental health issues, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, going through chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries, hysterectomy, divorce. Life. But It was a rough time for me. So I went to dr law to figure out what options would be the best for me and instead of listening to what I was saying, dismissed everything and offered zero help. No helpful resources, no real advice, no medication. Which ultimately caused me to do things that I'm not proud of, but I was legitimately having a mental crisis, had zero hormones, which, in itself is dangerous for mental health, but I was asking for help. Begging for help. For the first time in my life, I was scared of myself and what could happen. And They denied me. When I asked them why I wasn't being helped, I was told that my problems were too big for them and would get hung up on. The lack of care they provided, for what I was going through, is ridiculous. Now, I don't normally look to any type of pill or medication to make things better, but with everything I went through, it was crucial that I needed to try something to get me through what I was going through. They failed me. Two weeks later, they decided to fire me as a patient. Which is fine because you couldn't pay me to go back there. They spent the money to send me a certified letter, which is silly because they took more time worrying about firing me as a patient than actual care they could have provided if they'd listened. Then had the audacity to remind me of my daughters well check up with them. As if I'd actually take her to them. Nope. I fired them as her pediatrician. Fast forward to present moment, I finally found a doctor that would listen to me and created a treatment plan specifically for me, and followed through with it, and helped me push myself through it. Gave me hope that I wasn't alone or left unheard. I've finally realized that essential family medicine is only concerned about numbers. They're not listening & they're not trying to help. In my situation, they were just prolonging me getting through it. That was just so they could continue to collect my copayment and Insurance once a month. So I am posting this review to discourage anyone going through mental health issues from going here.

I came to see Dr Kester after struggling with feeling that a previous provider was listening to me. She takes the time to ask important questions, listens to concerns and helps me to make decisions regarding my care. I'm so thankful for her.

I would caution anyone in joining this practice and to consider seeking care elsewhere. As a nurse and daughter, the lack of attention to detail, clinical awareness and basic compassion/kindness received by my parent by Dr. Kester and office staff is embarrassing. My parent was a patient of Dr. Kester for over 10 years and within a week was told to go elsewhere due to asking questions and advocating/seeking further clarification regarding her medical wellbeing/care. Subsequently, access to her patient portal was revoked and received a letter stating they will no longer be seen as a patient and they will stop providing care as of a specific date. Our healthcare system is already hard to navigate and to be treated with such rudeness in the face of questions/clarification is uphauling. My parent does not have complex medical needs nor were the questions unwarranted, however was told they are too busy. If we don't expect our patients and family members to ask questions or advocate from themselves and when they do are left out to dry and made to start over, what are we doing? I have included the mission of Essential Family Medicine below, none of which my parent experienced in a time when it was needed the most.Essential Family Medicine's Mission:Our practice is working together to realize a shared vision of uncompromising excellence in medical care.To fulfill this mission, we are committed to:-Listening to those we are privileged to serve.-Earn the trust and respect of patients, profession and community.-Exceed your expectations.-Ensure a creative, challenging and compassionate professional environment.-Strive for continuous improvement at all levels.

Dr. Kester and the entire Essential Family Medicine staff is amazing! I have been going to them for a few years now and have had overwhelming positive experiences. From scheduling to billing, they make everything extremely easy. Aside from the top notch care, my absolute favorite part is that I have never had to wait for an appointment for more than 5 minuets. When I get there and get checked in, they are ready for me within minutes! If you're looking for a doctor who will care about your health but also go above and beyond to care about you as an individual, you need to go see Dr. Kester! She is so easy to talk to and truly listens to what is going on before taking action.

I was a former patient of Dr. Kester (15+ years ago). So, when my family moved back to the Omaha area, I found her name on a search to find a primary care physician for myself and my family. I made an appointment, and unfortunately, a work meeting intervened, and I called to reschedule. I was told by the office Manager, Carrie, that there is a note on my file, explaining that I had been cancelling appointments (I cancelled ONE!), and not to accommodate any requests from me. I have never felt so embarrassed; not only for myself, but also for a business. There are way too many other physicians who would love our business. Shame on you, for treating new potential customers like this, and not realizing that sometimes, life gets in the way. Next time, try having a bit of compassion.
