Emerald Isle

I heard they have good tenderloins, I was in the vicinity and made a stop to find out. It was good and well worth the time. It was a Friday night and there were some Christmas parties so we had to sit at the bar. Food came fast!

This is a bar in the middle of nowhere. The atmosphere is a bit rough. I wish I had not gotten the jalapeño burger. It was huge and I think tasty, however the jalapeños were very spicy. I think it may be a very good burger but couldn't tell. The fries were a little cool but otherwise ok. Service was a bit slow because the bartender was working the entire room. I may stop back but will search for alternatives for now.

My husband and I eat here when ever we can. Taco Tuesday HUGE tacos, fresh!! Wing Wednesday's Can't say enough about the different heat of wings (10) I have had all and I like the MANLEY WINGS!! The Hurt you wings!! I have ordered to go and stay. I have ate pretty much everything on the menu and I have never be disappointed. The hamburgers are awesome on a fresh large bun, and on to go orders they put everything on the side so it doesn't get soggy. I would love to give them 5 stars but, I always want to clean the front glass door when I'm there. They are extremely busy and I'm sure when they clean it doesn't stay that way long. The owners are there all the time and their effort goes to customer service 100%. Wait staff are always smiling and happy to do what it takes to get everyone fed and cold drinks on the table ASAP!!!

It's been a while since I visited Hamlin, IA, home of the "best breaded pork tenderloin (BPT) in Iowa", so my vision could be a little cloudy. I will go out on a limb here and say the BPT I had here at the Emerald Isle was easily one of the best I've had EVER, anywhere, hands down, I'm serious!! As another reviewer pointed out, there's not much to Imogene, a grain elevator, a couple churches and the Emerald Isle. Noted for it's St Patty's Day celebration and a super Taco Tuesday special, there is certainly at least one more reason to visit this little southwest Iowa town. Tenderloin with a capital T! Great service and friendly locals only add to the attraction.

This place is fun! Food is consistently good, taco Tues. is our fav! Drinks are good! Indoor and outdoor service, gets pretty crowded in warm weather with cyclists. Staff is friendly, occasional music, lots of laughter.

Awesome bar and grill. Not much to look at, but great food and great service. Can beat their Wednesday wings deal. You can order the wings by the individual wing and they have numerous sauces.

My Fiance' and I hit this place up after hearing about their wings so much. We ordered a 3-appetizer combo platter ($10.5) and got "hot" wings, "Jamie hot" wings, and onion rings. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger meal with jacket fries. I was a little skeptical at first because this place is literally in the middle of nowhere. The town is like 2 blocks long and looks like something you would see in a scary movie. We received our food fast and the service was very friendly. My bacon cheeseburger was HUGE and the fries were delicious. My Fiance' likes hot stuff and she said she like the wings a lot. After eating everything, it definitely filled me up and after all was done, the bill came and it only cost us $19.95! it was definitely worth it. Only down side was the fact that they do not take debit/credit cards, so bring cash! Their ATM was out of money and I almost had to do dishes but praise God my beautiful fiancé had cash on her. Overall, I would go check it out if I were you. Good stuff.

If you're looking for a cool place on the Wabash to take a break and have a cold beer, then KEEP GOING BECAUSE THIS ISN'T THAT PLACE!! My wife and I came in and sat down at the bar after our 2 hour bike ride. There was a couple to the left of us and a group of about 6 or 7 people to our right. We took a minute or so to look over what was available on tap and in the fridge. During that time no one was behind the bar, but finally one person out of that group of 6 or 7 got up and walked behind the bar to a back room, and then someone else came out. Eventually there was a 3rd person that walked behind the bar also. At no point during the 5 minutes that we were there did anyone speak to us or even make eye contact with us. We finally left after one of them walked past us again for the 5th or 6th time with giving us any attention.

Very good menu. Need more TVs. Taco Tuesdays and Wing Wednesdays are a big hit, but it's best to be there early to get a seat. They always have reserved seating for regulars that are out on the trace drinking and riding their bikes on Tuesdays. This place can get very crowded for St Patrick's Day and is sometimes best to stay away...
