The Edgerton Explorit Center is a stop on the 2023 Passport program and that is what brought us to Aurora. Easy parking, great outdoor landscaping and a warm welcome was a great way to start our visit. Gift shop items were displayed in the lobby area and had a STEAM (science/technology/engineering/arts/math) focus. We toured the Doc Edgerton displays and activities (one was not working) that had interactive pieces. The central area would appeal to children of all ages with learn thru play components making bubbles, building blocks, pattern connections, memory sequence competitions and more. One of the stations was missing pieces but worker bees were swarming and resetting stations on our visit. Admission was $10 and you could spend 3-4 hours and keep busy. We did not make it down to the lower level. Restrooms needed attention, but we stopped during a busy time so that may have contributed. If you are looking for a fun place to spend a day immersed in learning and exploring with your children, this would be a great stop.

The Edgerton Explorit Center is an amazing find in the small town of Aurora, NE, population 4,646. Dr. Harold Edgerton, inventor of the strobe light grew up in Aurora. He was really a big deal: "revolutionized photography, science, military surveillance, Hollywood filmmaking, and the media through his invention of the strobe light"--Wikipedia. His family created the museum to honor his work. There are two distinct areas: the first part is Strobe Alley which showcases all of his work as mentioned above. The other section was developed later and is best described as a place to "do science". There are all kinds of hand-on science activities to inspire kids of all ages. A lot of school groups come here, but parents and grandparents will enjoy bringing their kids here.

Fun place and kid friendly. I enjoy my time there and so did my wife and we don't have kids even. Lots to do there. I just wished they had a little snack bar.

Edgerton is a real hero of photography. His background and works span the globe. The Explorit Center has three facets. First there is a movie theatre. It is important that you see the two movies and get a feel for Edgerton and his background. The movies are both entertaining and informative. The next part of the museum has pictures of Edgerton, his co-workers, and his work. Incredible shots and historical pieces. The third part of the museum, and its largest area is for young people to have experiential moments in the museum. There are lots of schools that bring busloads of youngsters to enjoy a day at the museum.I like this museum and Dr. Edgerton's work. it is Amazing.

Stopped here to stretch out a bit on a road trip. This is a great place to come here with kids, but being a college student, this was still fun. I found myself, when doing the "noise maker" learning exhibits, I sort of imagined my mom telling me to be careful or be quiet, but in a good way. The "things to do" seemed small in number to me, but the kids there really enjoyed it.Other than the hands on things, there are a lot of pictures that show the displacement of motion in different objects. I thought it was interesting, at the very least. It's a really good place to let the kids out on a big road trip (especially on I-80) and decent for the bored adult-kid who needed to stretch a bit. I definitely wish my parents would've stopped here when I was young though!

For a small science center, this museum is great fun for the family. Definitely worth the time. My grandson had a ball and still talks about the different exhibits. One of his favorites was the booth where you could photograph the actual moment when a balloon popped.

I decided to stop by here when they were having a free admission day, as I do feel their admission is way too expensive. However, the exhibits here are amazing, and I think I've had just as much fun if not more than the kids did. They have many different exhibits, most of them science related and a few that are not. Two hours had passed and neither me nor the kids realized it. It's an amazing place, but its not too good for those families on a budget. I really wish we could afford to let our kids learn here more often.
