I love downtown Omaha!I don't drive a car so the fact I'm on almost every bus line in town is such a convenience. I'm within walking distance to many nice places to eat, gyms, and just places to hang out. If I HAD to complain we need like a Hyvee or a Walmart neighborhood market down here because the grocery options are kinda lame. If you're in downtown Omaha make sure you check out the old market or go walk the river front, it's beautiful!

We walked all over found cute little elective shoppes. absolutely had a blast riding scooters all over down town. So much to see, so much to do! We had to say next time were doing this, next time we're doing that! We walked out to Pedestrian bridge! What a view! The bridge has a Name it's "Bob" you can walk to middle of bridge and stand on one side of Iowa & Nebraska. I can't wait to come back again! I'm a Husker in the making.

I love living here in the Old Market in Downtown Omaha! I always feel safe, even when walking my dog in the middle of the night. Sure, there's some crime now and then, but not nearly as bad as lots of other places I've lived.LOTS of wonderful restaurant choices, fun bars, locally brewed beer and distilled whiskey, fun art galleries and exhibits. I do with they'd make parking in some of the garages free for the first 3 hours, like Midtown Crossing.

Downtown Omaha has a lot going for it. Plenty to eat, drink and do any night of the week. A few years ago, you'd be hard pressed to find anything worth doing outside of the Old Market. Now you have a several great spots for food, cocktails and entertainment. While far from bustling, the influx of downtown residents in the last decade has made Omaha's urban core more vibrant and diverse.Still, downtown needs work.1. More residents. There are several apartment projects currently in the works. Many filling in once desolate parking lots. More and more and more of this please.2. A full service grocery store. Sure, Patrick's Market and Cubby's fill the need at the moment, but something a little bigger like a Hy-Vee or a Trader Joe's would keep downtown residents in the area instead of shopping elsewhere.3. Better public transportation. The main bus terminal (if you can call it that) is downtown, but the system as a whole needs to be reworked and rebranded. Downtown should be a place someone can live and give up having a car. This becomes very difficult if they want to go elsewhere in the city that's not along Dodge and further west than Westroads. The BRT is a good start, but a starter light rail line could really spur some growth. And not even a bus to and from the airport? WTF?4. More hotels. Like apartment buildings, there are a few hotels going up at the moment. They should've been built 10 years ago, though.5. The west end of downtown (20th Street to the interstate) has a ton of potential. Hopefully making Harney a two-way street and the success of Midtown Crossing will help revitalize the area.7. More parking. Just kidding. There's way too much effing parking.6. Visionary city leaders. Dare I say I miss Hal Daub? I kid.Downtown Omaha still has a lot of work to do in order to make its streets vibrant once again. Hopefully the economy stays strong and we keep building up.

Downtown Omaha has been my home for just over 5 years now. After living in New York for many years and moving back home, I knew I had to live somewhere somewhat comparable-even though it is far from it! I love that I can get to several restaurants within minutes and I never get tired of the variety of choices. There's a local grocery store, Patrick's and also, Cubby's actually has a decent selection of meats, beer and wine. There are new bike stations set up all over for you to rent. Two of them being very close to each other- 15th & Howard and 13th & Howard. Downtown is very convenient to the Old Market-within walking distance to many more restaurants/bars/art galleries/shops/salons and parks. As far as parking goes, everywhere is metered M-F 8a-5p. Many meters now let you pay with a debit/credit card as well as an app to refill the meter to add more time.

Downtown Omaha is one of the best places to get things done. The city life is somewhat muted here in Omaha, but this area is going through a Residential Renaissance. The proliferation of places to live is coming closer to the places to work and eat. Fortune 500 companies like Union Pacific and Kiewit call downtown home. First National Bank has the tallest point between Denver and Chicago here. At 638ft, the Tower stands guard over the area. Multiple hotels and restaurants also stage here. The Magnolia, Doubletree, Deco, and Residence Inn are within a stone throw of each other.Restaurants like Block 16, Table Grace (pay what you can), and doozy's sandwich shop are here, too. A few chinese places and great coffe are also found. Need to catch some arts? The Orpheum houses some of the best National shows to come through. The Omaha Symphany and even a top 5 Children's theater is downtown. Please do not confuse downtown Omaha with the Old Market. They are entirely different

This is a lovely place to get some fresh air. It seems like there is always something new and interesting happening Downtown. There are a lot of shops and restaurants to see. I suggest walking around the Gene Leahy Mall (it's a little lake near the slides off of 11th & Farnam) and then also the ConAgra Park. There are some geese and other wildlife that live around both lakes. On the weekends it can definitely get crowded. There is meter and garage parking. Both you will have to pay a small fee.Walking around downtown at night can get a little uncomfortable. I would suggest only doing that on the weekends and in a group. There are just a lot of people out; you never know.

the atmosphere is somewhat run down to an extent, there are alot of homeless folk there that are not receiving assistance. the old market area though is wonderful but somewhat on the pricey side in some stores.
