This is an urban bodega that caters to all walks of life. It's both a spot to grab a snack and a pop before or after work and a glorified liquor and tobacco store. It's showing it's age somewhat -- the floors could simply be retiled to greatly increase the vibe of the place. That and if they fix/replace the coolers that don't keep cold drinks cold and add some better hot food options and this place would be ready to serve downtown for many more years to come.

This place is a joke! Calling this place a "Food Mart" is a very liberal use of the words. It's mostly cigarettes, and junk food. What they do have is ridiculously expensive, and if you use your debit card or credit card they charge you a service fee. Its right next to the bus stop so there is generally a lot of people loitering around, and you have to walk through a cloud of smoke just to get in. If your looking for something within walking distance, you're better off going to Patricks or Cubbys.

Came in the other day to cash a scratcher and get a bottle of water...The guy manning the counter was surprisingly friendly...I certainly won't be going out of my way to come here, but if for one reason or the other I find myself in the vicinity and need something, they'll get my business

Be warned. The people outside will ask you for change, smokes, if you want to buy drugs, etc. Then you finally get into the place. The smokes are cheap, it ends there. The price on everything else is insane. The place is not clean. the staff is nice, but they are hard to understand at times.

Fuck all these stupid reviews. Why are we reviewing the place based off the customer or the quality of the product? It's a convience mart on the corner, a true bodega. Every time I come in here I'm welcomed and I'm taken care of Everyone is nice staff wise, food is plentiful, area is clean. If you want something, "traditional" shop at Hyvee

I only went in once. I thought the service was fast and friendly. They had lots of food and stuff. The over all environment felt safe.

They also cater to the downtown condo owners. They also sell iced tea, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, milk and eggs. They took the bus stop out so there are fewer people hanging around, and the clouds of smoke are gone. They have the audacity to also cater to poorer people who come in for ice tea, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, milk and eggs. And maybe a little candy or a pop for the kids. I love having this store right here on the corner because of the convenience to some meds for a migraine, for some TP when I run out, or a can of soup for lunch. The store may be old, but they work hard to keep it clean. The staff is indeed friendly and easy enough to understand. If one of them has an unAmerican accent, just try a little harder to listen and understand them. Yes, there are homeless folks nearby, but they have always been. They have ALWAYS been. If one of them asks you for food, be a mensch and give them some. Oh, and ALL convenience stores have problems with theft and trouble makers. Go figure.
