Found this place, thanks to Yelp, on our drive through Nebraska and was pleasantly surprised! We loved the Philly cheesesteak, burger and the milkshakes! The chances of us ever returning are slim to none but it was definitely a highlight of our road trip. Great staff, freshly cooked, can't ask for anything better.

We stopped here for lunch while passing through town and we were thoroughly impressed. The ice cream was AMAZING, my strawberry shake had fresh strawberries blended in. The food was cooked to perfection and the waitress was so nice and polite to everyone. Also the whole place was spotless clean. I would definitely recommend this place!

Small-town prices, big-town taste. 94 cents for a "small" dish of ice cream, which was pretty big. Family was happy.

What a smalltown gem! My fiance and I first discovered Dairy Chef last year, despite having been through this area several times before. I'm fond of the catfish strips, while my fiance likes the pork tenderloin sandwich. Last time we were here, we tried the corn nuggets. We like to see rural Nebraska, so we use Syracuse as our stopping point for a bite to eat, then continue on our way.Also noteworthy is their Tornado, a Blizzard-like ice cream treat. They have varying flavors of soft serve, so try the mint with Heath in a Tornado if you are feeling adventurous. There are a variety of other standard fare ice cream treats available, too.I highly recommend Dairy Chef when anyone is in the area. They make the entrees fresh, so it's always high-quality here.

No masks and no gloves used by any employee! They have a table in front of the counter for social distancing and a bottle of hand sanitizer, but NO employee was wearing gloves or masks, and certainly none of the customers were wearing masks. During non-pandemic times food service establishments should be using gloves, at least, but especially now during a global pandemic AND even moreso now that cases are on a steep rise around the country. We loved this place before and have happily driven from Omaha to Syracuse to treat ourselves here. But this time we turned around and walked out without ordering. Until they up their santitation standards, we won't be back.

Delicious milkshakes and delicious food! I've been here only a couple of times (the first after a recommendation from a friend), but each time the staff is incredibly friendly and you can tell they care about your eating experience. It's got a homey feel to it like you'd want from a small town diner, where the staff knows the names of the regulars, and it's kept clean and welcoming for family or solo dining.I've gotten their chocolate milkshakes, and I like how the sizing is what it sounds like. A medium is a medium, and not only enough milkshake to fit into a small sized cup at other places. The BLT and hashbrowns I ordered were delicious, and the plate was almost overflowing with the amount of hashbrowns I got. The prices are very reasonable for what you get, and the menu has quite a bit of choices, but not too much to be overwhelming (I especially like how many different potato sides you can choose from).I'll definitely be coming back and dragging others along with me to try more of the food options and for more of the yummy milkshakes.

I grew up loving this place. It was owned by an older couple until a few years ago. Everything was always so wonderful. When it changed hands, it stayed the same for a while, but the new owners have slowly decreased the portion sizes, the quality of the good has decreased drastically, and the prices have gone up. It makes me sad that a place I have loved my whole life has gone down hill. The new owners will undoubtedly begin to see the locals who have always frequented this establishment going elsewhere.

We love finding little mom and pop places. Dairy Chef didn't disappoint. Quick and friendly service. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The strawberry lemon swirl cones were so good - and only $1! Definitely recommend this place!

Great local, hamburger/ice cream place. Food is high quality and ice cream is awesome!

- Very cute, welcoming, and quaint- Nice staff and patrons- I got the grilled chicken sandwich with fried cauliflower and loved them- My dad got a burger and fried cheese and also loved them- Overall, great option over some of the other places in the area
