This is our plate today. Looks like something out of a school luncheon.
House omelet
the front of the restaurant
Pie case
It's American food with a lot of potatoes on the side. Not for foodies or calorie counters. Consider the alternatives....

We were visiting in town and went to this place twice to eat. The food was wonderful!!! From the soup, burgers, beer batter chicken, and the walleye. Soooo good!! Wait staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Shannon. Will eat there again when we return to Creston!!!

Trying to evaluate and write a review based on what I perceive is their intent as a restaurant. This is called a "family" restaurant. Was in Creston on business a Saturday. When finished decided that preferred a place that 'wasn't fast food. It was well past lunchtime so there was only 1 other small group there. When I walked in no one came to greet me. Not a great sign, but most places are cleaning and preparing for a dinner crowd. Plus there didn't appear to be a direct line of sight from the area right outside the kitchen and front door. I walked around a someone saw me a 'young' girl probably HS age. She found me a good table near the window.I had been busy all day and while hungry first needed some coffee and time to relax. This worked out. Finally, after being asked every time if I wanted to order I gave a breakfast order. Sat down, but decided i needed to wait a little longer to eat. There was at most 2 minutes after I ordered. She heard me and went in to the kitchen and heard her tell them to now start my meal yet. Following my extra cup of coffee I got up and went to the waitress gave her the OK to cook my meal. I turned walked to the table and as I was sitting she gave me the food. It was warm , but it obvioiusly had been sitting. I was not satisfied as I had put the order on hold. The eggs were warm, pancakes soggy......NOT a good meal. She lied to me by saying the cooks did hold it just got fixed quickly. Overall the kind of service and food that discourages a customer from coming backFrankly, my impression is in a small town with limited options this will survive, basically you don't have to try as hard.

First time around we loved it. The waiter, the atmosphere was super welcoming. Came back today due to that experience and man were we amazed at the difference. We weren't given straws and I thought okay she'll walk past and notice and give them. Nope totally ignored us. Once I asked there was no apology but instead the plates were dropped ok the table instead of placed. The gravy looked like a big glob of melted butter. Just the presentation itself shows the difference. You'd think we come work out of state and coming to the restaurant close to where you stay would be a thing. Nope, food tasted awful this time around as well.

If it wasn't for the wait staff I'd give this place an Fminus!!!! Owners can't be bothered to listen to a complaint! Ordered medium rare it came out blue and cold! When I complained, the waitress had to call the owner to find out what to do. The OWNER COMPED THE APPETIZER AND MADE ME PAY FOR THE BLUE STEAK?! Will never go back to this place! Its SAD because the staff were amazing!!! Id recommend ordering from the domino's at Walmart?, which by the way, actually care about what they present, or the McDonald's across the street. You're definitely more likely to get what you ordered!

Is grease a feeling? Because that's what this place is - a huge grease trap. The exterior should serve as a warning... as well as the interior. Filthy carpet (seriously, who carpets a restaurant?), greasy booths/tables, overall cramped and messy feeling. We waited while the hostess 'cleaned' our table, which consisted of a quick wet wipe on first, the seats, THEN the table. Yuck. While other diners were so close I could have held hands with them (had I known them well enough,or at all), the hostess again dried the seat first, THEN the table. Double yuck. We sat down and were given menus. As we pretended our close diner friends were not staring at us, we read our menus. Granted, there is much variety on the menu, alas, this does not always translate to delicious taste.Five minutes passed and a waitress rushed up, plopped four waters down and said, "I'll be back after I return from a vacation!" Was this a joke? Apparently not, since ten minutes later, I had to ask another waitress if indeed, we did have a waitress. She went off in search of our holiday taking server, while I idly regarded the peeling varnish on our booth. The second server returned and said she would take our orders. At this point, I would refer to her by name, but it will remain a mystery, as it never passed her lips. My daughter ordered what was boldly advertised as a Sunday special - broasted chicken for $8.65. I had a hot beef sandwich, our two dining companions had a reuben sandwich and hamburger. We had two salads, which consisted of semi wilted lettuce with a few sad looking strips of cabbage and a smattering of carrots slices. French dressing was awful, and I believe my mustard dressing was actually chicken nugget mustard dipping sauce. Salads were lukewarm, but did not feel left out, as the vegetable soup was also served at the same temperature.Broasted chicken - one piece on a bed of stuffing with cold mashed potatoes. Hamburger - do you remember the school lunch hamburgers? Add five pickle slices and one mushy tomato, and charge $9.25. However, I will admit, the curly french fries were hot. Reuben sandwich - the only dish that did not look like it came off a fast food production line. Hot beef sandwich - can beef slices be dry? Because mine were. Mashed potatoes were room temperature, mmmmm.... Waitress was wonderful though, and remembered to bring me extra gravy, which helped me swallow the dry potatoes. When I went to pay the bill, I showed the hostess the prominent Sunday special sign, as I was charged a different amount on my ticket. She said all the prices on the sign were wrong. Did my face look surprised? I was not sure, as I was more worried about the possible future ramifications of eating dried out sliced beef and cold mashed potatoes. The growing line of impatient people at the counter prompted me to drop the subject and simply pay my bill, as I feared the woman behind me and her tapping cane. I'm only giving one star, and that's for our nameless waitress, who was in a hurry, but very nice and came back to check on us three times. And huzzah! I'm still alive to write up this sad ass review of a restaurant I will never go to again.

Should have checked on Yelp before going. Very disappointed. We clearly walked in wearing face masks as we are proponents of slowing the spread of Covid. We were greeted by a waitress, not wearing a mask. When we asked that we be seated using social distancing the waitress responds, 'Good luck with that!' I was dumbfounded with the ignorance and we promptly walked out. If you value your life, don't patronize this establishment until Covid is gone.

There's nothing "wrong" with this place but there also isn't anything particularly special about it. The menu is huge, and it is possible I missed out on the deal of a lifetime by not ordering the all you can eat chicken and ribs for 12.something dollars, but what I did eat was a super double cheese burger. Let me explain because I was curious when I ordered it, it's "super" because the patties are extra long and oval shaped, while the bun is still round meaning if you don't wish for your hands to be completely covered in grease you must eat it with a fork and knife. The soups are not amazing but they are made in house from the look of them so I appreciated that. Our waitress was very mumbly and one of us did receive the wrong burger but she was nice enough to forgive for this. All around a quaint dinner but not a diamond in the rough.

Very little effort on service during our visit. The girl at the front door that was supposed to seat us did it even look our direction for several minutes then walked away from us before seating us. Our waitress didn't get our drink order until all other tables around us got their food and another waitress told her to do it. We got our refills from the same waitress that reminded her of the orders. There were a total of 5 servers in an area with 10 tables and only the one even looked at us. By the time our food came out 3 other tables that arrived much after us had their food and were eating! Our food was mediocre and slightly warm. Props to Theresa for helping us. She's the only reason this place did it get 1 star.

We had a marvelous waitress that was very attentive to our needs. The pork chops were cooked perfectly. The highlight of the meal was the warm homemade cherry pie...with ice cream of course!! Good dinner crowd but we were served quickly! I would go back.
