Really good food. Friendly service. Newly remodeled.Try the coffee bar. Like the high top tables and large booths.

OMG goodness! I can't believe there isn't a line out the door to eat breakfast here. Service was fast and friendly, place is clean, and the food is just outta this world good. One of my favorite places to get a chicken fried steak. Hand breaded and crispy. Seasoning on the breakfast potatoes are perfect. I will stop here every time I come through and want a good hot breakfast!

Please note, contrary to what another reviewer noted, this is NOT the Apple Barrel. Coffee Kettle Cafe is a traditional hole-in-the-wall diner attached to the Sapp Brothers building. There is a lot of dining competition at the 144th and I-80 interchange, but for your dollar, Coffee Kettle is hard to beat. The food is good to great (particularly the breakfasts), and the prices are great. As others have noted, it's usually not very busy either, so service is quick.

We stopped her on our way home from daily vacation. The chicken fried chicken bowl was just what I needed. It was delicious and filling.

Not a whole lot to say about Apple Barrel. I didn't have high expectations, but still I was disappointed. I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon...the eggs were dry and tasteless. I tried doctoring them up with salt and pepper but to no avail. The bacon was fine. Service was average...the waitress wasn't very prompt or personable but no major problems. Overall I was underwhelmed and won't be back.

Staff is friendly and personable. For a "truck stop" the food was actually pretty good. I've come to expect crap on the road but they were better than average. I ordered eggs and they were cooked perfectly to order and everything was hot and tasty.I Would return to Apple Barrel; unlike many other truck stop restaurants.

Stopped here because I saw this huge billboard advertising an $8.99 steak and baked potato. Just take the next exit!Turns out this special is no longer offered. Instead I got the same thing, plus salad bar for $12.99. Which was still reasonable. First off, who still has a salad bar? It was kind of fun to see. I can't think of anywhere I've been lately (unless it was a buffet) that still had a salad bar. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, as were the toppings. A+ on the salad bar.The steak was sort of "meh". It was cooked to order as I requested but it wasn't exactly a choice cut of meat. And for the price I wasn't expecting top sirloin or anything, but this was stringy and chewy. Not the best steak I've had in the price range. I mean, the hole in wall "Best Steak House" in my hometown is much tastier for the same price.The baked potato was unacceptable. It needed about another hour in the oven. It was hard and cool. Not hot and fully. Also, they had no real butter - only country crock. The waitress was friendly though, and kept the soda refills coming. The price wasn't bad, and it was still better than a fast food meal at about the same price. The place was clean and service was fast.

Service is GREAT food is GREAT. I'm a truck driver and whenever I'm in Omaha this is my favorite place to stop and eat. Breakfast is good and I love the jalapeño burger, the BBQ Bano and their Cajun fries

Fish fry advertised, and after I paid, they told me they were out of tartar sauce.Who has a fish fry with no tartar sauce???? Shane on you

Iam so upset we ate breakfast this morning it gave me food poisoning i no sooner finished and had to go to the bathroom. i told the server the sausage was bad, she said it must be subbed n pancakes were not the same they tasted different she said it was the same ole batter also hashbrowns wernt crispy like usual, my sons french toast wasnt the same either no flavor abd hi sausage tasted bad too hes not feeling well. we go here once or twice a week and will no longer go. its not worth it 29.00 to be suck. sorry sapp bros u need to know this the server didnt care. she also was talking to people instead of watching food it was luke warm n she took forever to get an order. i know good help is hard to come ny nut really so r customers
