Female 3 on the left and male 10 months on the right. They said he was 5 when I specified all the ages.

If I could give them a 0, I would, I was in a situation where I needed to surrender my animal, whom I loved so very much. I was not willing to surrender to a kill shelter, I was advised over the phone Capital Humane Society was NOT a kill shelter, so I proceeded to surrender, I found out once they had my animal, they WERE a kill shelter, which they denied saying to me. They were cold, uncompassionate, unprofessional, and in the end I lost my animal to a kill shelter after I made every effort to get him back. I even spoke to the director regarding the situation, she could not have been more cold and uncaring. Would never recommend this place to anyone!

Sick cat needing to be euthanize. Person answering was cold and unfeeling. Just said, "What do you want me to do?" How about helping a grieving owner find another place or at least empathizing with what I'm going through. Customer service determines any future actions including donations, which won't be any from me.

Wow! Adoption fees are sky high! 4 years ago I got my then 8 month old puppy for $25 ( Senior Citizen fee) at the Yolo County Shelter in Woodland CA. Seems like Capital is more interested in making a profit than re-homing animals. With Lowe fees they wouldn't have to support animals at the shelter so long.

I was in the hospital for a week and my dog got out. When they told me to come collect her I told them my situation and that I had no one else to go get her. They brushed me off and said that because no one would collect her she would be put up for adoption and that they wouldn't give me any information from then on. I've spent the last 3 months trying to find my dog but they won't even give the new owners my information. All they said is that IF she comes back in I'll be their SECOND call. They showed no sympathy for me or my situation and didn't even give me a chance to get her. I didn't even get to say goodbye. Heartless people.

Both of my dogs escaped the backyard. A neighbor down the road turned them over to the shelter. I was not able to get to them before the shelter closed. In the morning, I picked them both up. Not even a week later both dogs had kennel cough and ringworm. The shelter was not clean. It's hard enough to lose your animals, but getting them back with more than one illness after less than 24 hours is not okay. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

People who don't understand the Dog World Abuse/Abandonment situation that is happening all over in this WORLD right now. Is and will more likely knock down any facility that has to take care of their dogs because of human neglect or humans just plane not wanting to be responsible for the dog (family) anymore????.... WHO DOES THIS????? WOULD YOU TAKE YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER TO A SHELTER??? Or get rid of it cause for whatever reason????? I'M guessing not, THEN WHY DO IT WITH YOUR DOG????????????????

My husband and I visited because we were unable to keep our puppy due to apartment concerns. It was heartbreaking, and we dreaded the experience, but the process to drop him off was easy and simple, and they were very understanding. We were also able to drop off his food, kennel, and toys to donate another day with ease. Within a week, he was neutered and posted online for adoption. After only 3 days, he was adopted. Not every animal that comes in might be as lucky as our puppy was, but having a smooth process to get through everything as well as being able to keep up with their adoptions online makes me happy. I only wish they would share on social media when an animal is adopted as we were looking at several others and had to call to check if they were still available. I would recommend adopting from this shelter as they do a lot of work to make the animals adoptable.

We adopted a kitten from Pieloch Adoption Center (which is a wonderful place and the staff is AMAZING), but she came with a LARGE lump under her stitches from her spay. I called and scheduled an appointment to see the vet at Capital Humane Society. When I arrived I stood at the front desk for 10 minutes while a guy was on the phone and two other were ladies sitting on their cells phones. Once the ladies realized I was there they got up to help me. The lady who helped me was rude to me and rudely told the vet I was there. The vet came out and took my kitten to the exam room. While I was waiting for my kitten the guy who was on the phone with somebody looking to adopt a pet began saying rude things and making fun of the person he was on the phone with. The vet came back out and told me to come back the next day to have my kitten operated on. She told me to keep my 8 week old kitten from running around and playing or the lump will likely return.

When me and my friend walked in there were at least 5 ladies sitting at a desk or walking around us and NONE of them even said hi or asked if they could help us. They all knew we were there and didn't even look up from their desks. Would highly recommend going anywhere else but here. My friend and I ended up walking out.
