"I'm not into "fitness culture" and I am intimidated by gyms. This is the perfect gym to help someone like me to stay in shape. This is a small Y embedded in the new Buena Vista High School (opened 2023). It's in the southwest corner of the building, just to the left of the main school entrance. It's best if you enter from L Street then stay to the left. They don't seem to be overrun by students, and there is dedicated parking. There are no small children running around. The intimate, welcoming environment attracts people of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, and abilities. What this location doesn't have: CROWDS, a pool, fresh towels, kids activities, childcare, or large classes. No spinning, Tai Chi, aerobics, Tai Kwan Do, or basketball. No late evening hours. Your memberhip lets you go to other Y locations to access those things if you want them. What this location does have: weights, a few treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, semiprivate showers, Egym weight machines, and easy access to friendly staff for advice. They have a few small-group classes aimed at general health and fitness. The Egym machines are the big deal here; each machine helps you exercise a particular part of your body. The Egym system automatically adjusts each machine to fit your body and fitness level, so you don't have to carry around a clipboard or remember how to make all of the adjustments. A video screen shows you how far and how fast to move so you can exercise without hurting yourself. It's really quite easy and non-intimidating.The YMCA membership price is a little more expensive than basic memberhip at gyms like Blue Moon or Planet Fitness. But the money goes to a good cause, and you can count on them being ethical. They won't keep charging your credit card if you decide to cancel. As with any gym, I won't be posting interior photos out of respect for the other customers, but you can find photos on the Facebook page or on the Metro YMCA website."
"I've attended the Blue Moon gyms since 2020, and have been satisfied with my membership, for a few specific reasons that stand out. Starting at the Center location, I received personal training and guidance, before realizing that personal trainers at Blue Moon were typically very low experience, and I ended up using the gym for its facilities. In one instance, I had a man following me around the gym, positioning himself to be directly behind me during hamstring curls and deadlifts, and obviously watching (sitting on the equipment behind me and not working out). I requested he move multiple times, and he refused. I went up to management staff, and they spoke with him. He left me along for maybe 5 minutes before returning to stand behind me. At this point, the manager kicked him out, which I was grateful for. Since my start at Center, I became a regular at the Blue Moon North location, which is bigger and has higher quality equipment AND more areas (including a women's only area). While this isn't a lifetime fitness, the gym is always looking to improve itself though visual updates like painting or decorating, and adding new equipment. Recently, they added a new row of treadmills, and lower body machines like a hip thrust machine - awesome! Personally, I've had wonderful interactions with the staff. I've been attending long enough to see various staff and trainers come through, and they have always had a smile for me at the door and helped me with any problems that arise. The massage chairs and stkyu scans are nice as well, I just forget to use them. For $32/month, just over a dollar a day, I have enjoyed attending this gym. Now, the majority of reviews here state that it is impossible to cancel, which I will be doing this month as I am moving. I'll update my review accordingly!Update: I had no problems cancelling my membership, I just had to give a 30 day notice! Since I had been going for 3 years, maybe that helped me, but I'm not sure why they've gotten so many negative reviews on this topic."
"I have to say i absolutely LOVE this gym and the overall experience that comes with working out here. Todd and his staff are so kind, caring and very patient with you, they work at the pace that is best for you and that is so wonderful, before coming here my workouts consisted of going to the fridge and rushing back to the couch before my shows came back on so i definitely appreciate his staff taking the time to work with me and help me at a pace that was not only healthy for me but also a pace i am comfortable with. No matter what age or size you are they will cater to you and help you get started on your get fit journey too, so thanks to Todd and his well educated staff i am now well on my way with my fitness journey and i am so very happy."
"We've been members at the Y for a few months now and this location is nearest to our house, so we come here regularly (probably not regularly enough though!). There are quite a few treadmills, ellipticals, and other machines. So, if you are looking to get some cardio in, you can usually find a machine to get it done. The problem lies in the weight area. There are only two dedicated benches, also one incline and one decline bench. So, those are sometimes hard to get to and I find myself keeping my eyes open and almost sprinting when one opens up. It's unfortunate and they could use a couple of more multi-purpose benches that allow for all three to happen. As others have said, it's busy and if you don't time your visit right, you could end up not being able to use the equipment you want. Pro tip: do not go on Saturday morning before 11 am. Yikes. You'll just have to find times that work best for your schedule and that aren't too busy. I find weeknights after 7 pm aren't too bad but do vary a bit. The basketball court here is always overrun with kids, so I've not been on them too much and we haven't yet used the pool. There are only three dedicated lap lanes, so not much help for those just wanting to get in some laps. There are also classes which seem to be well attended. All told, it's fine for what it is. For us, it's a half mile from the house and the price is reasonable. So, it works. But, just bring your patience."
"This is my first time having a gym membership anywhere and I'm so pleased with it! From the 24/7 access to all the many workout options. There really is something for all levels of exercise. I'm so excited to continue my fitness journey here!"
"Almost anything you need. Great CrossFit area. Full pool. Locker room has built in locks. Great staff."
"I think you should follow these three steps. (a) do what a Detroit-based rapper would do and join this place. (b) come every day. (c) listen to Eminem. Why Em? See (a).So I've figured out that a tree must be located downtown, in order for it to have a Downtown Branch.Mind... Blown. It's an older facility, and some of the weights are a little clunky and difficult to use, but once you get in here you'll have a pretty good work out like I did. There's parking across the street - which I'm not sure if you're always allowed to use, but at least it seems like you can and I didn't have any problems using it.This Y is on a slanted downward Street, and I didn't have a problem getting into the facility, and the locker rooms were fine and it's definitely got a lot of decent new equipment, especially the machines - so I appreciated that. One of the better downtown Ys I've used in the country. There's a running track right around all the weights and stuff. Feels kinda funny with everyone running around you. It can get a little busy at times but it's usually not too bad. It could use a bit of a revamp but for an older Y it's not bad at all. I couldn't decide between a 4 and a 5 for this one. I think it could use better visibility to the outside, like some of the cardio rooms have. But all in all, it's good. And one more thing. Don't join up and then bail on them. Like, if you're gonna pay all that money, then use it. This place was founded by the Christians. So we should learn from them. I have never seen a Christian, Bale. Ever. Get it?"
"This is a great gym. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, a great pool, tons of classes, free daycare if taking a class, up to date machines. They even have financial aid if you can't afford full price."
"Lifestyle is an amazing small town gym with the cleanest equipment and facilities of a gym I've seen in a long time. The staff is incredible and willing to help you with lifts/guidance of workouts or even share a smile with you. I am never disappointed with the cleanliness and upmost respect the staff has for its customers. I will recommend Lifestyle to anyone wanting to get a new gym."
"I love the Bar Code Dundee-- especially the Brawl classes! They are a great workout! I initially discovered them on Class Pass but now have purchased a class pack. I love that they offer some early morning (5:30 am) and later evening classes that fit with my work schedule!"
"Great gym! So conveniently located close to it all. It's pretty new opened a couple years ago during the pandemic. Some things have gradually changed over time. It's not open 24/7 and is almost always insanely busy. The parking situation can be intimidating even for cars driving themselves through towards the neighborhood. Great quality equipment tons of purple just as you'd expect! I hope they continue the great prices going forward. :)"
"I love the Y. My daughter loves the child watch area and she also loves the pools. I have been here at all times of the day and even on weekends I can still get in a good workout without feeling crowded in. There is something for everyone in here. Overall, a good place to hang out and have some fun."

Love their personal training options. It is a nice big space with a women's only area. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the club was clean.Membership options are affordable and cost depends on what amenities you want to use.

Small atmosphere with attention to detail when it comes to what your body needs to train. The staff here at Todd Smith Fitness are working hard to train their best to be their best and treating their clients the same way. Clients are family at this gym. Training and learning from the best in the city of Omaha is how you will see results. The trainers are extremely qualified and educated on how to feed your body the right fuel and keep your metabolism up. "Look your best, feel your best!"

Top.notch facility. Pool, daycare, bball, aerobics etc. all in a new layout and updated building. As a member you enjoy some perks of kid care, and discounted rates; including private swim lessons. We typically use private swim lessons in early Spring, to get the kids acclimated for summer swim pools.

I've been a member at genesis since 2017 and spent most of my membership at the Westroads location. When they closed for the remodel I went back to my home gym at Sprague. I came back to Westroads to try out the new facility. Super sweet some of the staff remember me, which I appreciate. The new and improved facility is great and all the aspects I used like cardio, free weights and turf are all bigger and better but I don't think I'll pay the huge up charge to belong to this location. I think it's odd that if this isn't where you signed up, you aren't grandfathered in (which would have been impossible, as it was still Westroads club.)If you ask any genesis member what their membership rate is, it varies from $20-$75 a month. It would be roughly double the cost for me to be a member here. It's unfortunate because it's such a nice facility, but all the woes I've heard since they reopened were confirmed when I came in to see for myself. If they change their pricing structure I'd love to make this my home gym again.

This location has a lot of variety of equipment and plenty of space for you to get a workout in. It's cool to see that there is a lot of traffic. Most of the staff is pretty friendly and I can get a good workout in. I do wish that they would make some upgrades and clean some things like their track carpet and other things they try or just cover up. But in general it's an affordable place and I like it.

I joined the Sarpy County YMCA recently, and I am very glad I did! I am very impressed with the schedule of group activities and the selection of equipment. You can expect to be greeted by friendly staff whenever you walk into the facility to have your membership card scanned. From there I usually stop into the locker room to store some belongings. The lockers require a small lock because of the angle of the latch. The locker room is well maintained. I attended a yoga class last week and found it to be a relaxing a challenging experience. I've done yoga on my own for the last few years, but I found Violet's class invigorating because she led us through some poses unfamiliar to me and was there to correct my form. Afterwards I felt energized but also felt like I'd had a good stretch throughout my body.

"After going through some life changes, I made the decision to seek out a gym that was close to something I had belonged to in the past that was very motivating and encouraging and brought me to become the most fit I had ever been in my entire life. It's hard to find a gym like that...where the trainers and workout friends are just as invested in you as you are in yourself. I have found such a place again! Capital City Fitness!! It's a great feeling to belong to a gym where you walk in and are greeted by your trainer and your workout crew, encouraged and challenged to do the hard work and then celebrated when you hit a PR or a goal you've been working towards. Different workouts, challenges, motivation and guidance to be your best is found here!"
"Beat gym in town! Great workers and they are constantly upgrading the equipment. Definitely would suggest if you are thinking about joining this gym!"
"I am so glad I found FITssentials! They offer a wonderful variety of classes, and while I have only tried the Box-N-Blast and Yoga so far, I already love it. The trainers are so positive and encouraging, the atmosphere of the place is great, and there is plenty of room on the mat. They are strictly a group exercise facility, so no machines here. If you are coming to Box-N-Blast, bring your own gloves or your knuckles will pay. The only downside I have noticed so far is that the parking lot fills up quickly when there is a popular class (They share a lot with B&B Classic Dogs and a hair salon, so peak times happen), but once the previous class gets out, there is usually plenty of parking available. I'm leaving one star's worth of room to grow in my review as I haven't sampled all their classes yet."
"For reviews that say this location is gross, I would listen. I was paying 55$ a month for a facility like this. The people who worked there were super nice. I signed up for one of the free training sessions, the trainer didn't show up. Okay... So I rescheduled with a new trainer that didn't show up. Once I can forgive but twice is too much. They also at the time had signs saying they were hiring personal trainers regardless of experience, which is interesting."
"The people here make OneUp Gym a great place to be. All of the smiles and jokes and positivity has kept me loving this place the past few years."
"I am so happy this location finally opened its doors to founding members not too long ago! Soon, it will be open for everyone to try out the benefits of infrared sauna workouts! Just in case you haven't had the opportunity to try it yet be sure to always stay hydrated and had enough food to eat prior to your workouts and throughout the week. I learned this the hard way. Also, if you do try it be sure to keep the temp around 125 when you first start out and of course go easy on yourself, your body needs to get acclimated to the heat and working out in it. Take your time and feel the warrior within emerge! What I love about this location at Shadow Lake is how large it is compared to the one I've been to at Midtown. There are a pretty decent amount of saunas with dedicated saunas for certain 30 minute workouts which make it nice when scheduling them. I also like that the FX zone is a pretty expansive area as well which include battle ropes too! I just stopped by this morning for a Hot Blast workout and saw that the vending machine and filtered water dispenser were recently installed! Nice!! What's also really great is you can purchase protein bars, drinks, liquid IV powders, energy powders, workout bands and gloves right from the vending machine if you attend during non-staffed hours. They give you a code to pop in when you'd like to go at a different time and they have special necklaces with buttons you press if you happen to need help and no one's there. I also love the manager Brian here, he's super friendly and helped me set up my new membership when they were offering founding memberships. I'm excited to pair these workouts with my lifting workouts I do at my normal gym."
"Best gym in town! Love the new places with a new feel to it! Staff is always friendly and always helpful. New machines offered here so it was awesome to see that (love the mountain climber). Definitely don't plan on ever changing gyms anytime soon!"
"This is a great Starting Strength Gym. They teach the main Power, Strength, and Olympic lifts. This is not a cardio or crossfit gym. I've been a member for a year and love this place because of the iron and family atmosphere. We have lifters as young as 8 and as old as 80. If you're looking for a good gym to get either bulk or tone, Testify is the place for you."
"Safe, great staff and lots of room and climbing lanes.Never been before and was amazed how patient staff was with orientation, especially with our six year old boy. Kids room in the back is a good time for all, not just the kids. Great crowd and very clean facility. Dog is onsite. Was mostly impressed by staff and willingness to support you, and how customer-focused they were."
"Great staff and kind personal trainers. Disregard the complaints about canceling you set if a few other reviews. According to the law they can't take your cancelation without something in person or certified mail. I had that same experience at two other gyms. People's choices to decline service need to be handled by them the customer responsibly. The managers and staff treat me with respect and are genuine for the most part. Make sure you know what you want and stick to it. If you change your mind after signing a contract then just drive in and handle it like a mature adult. The only thing i can say turns me off is they are pushing a lot of technology like heart monitoring or 3d body scan (no i really don't want a rendering of my dad bod). Stick with the basics and you will be satisfied. They are trying too hard to sell you on styku scans or massage chairs or tanning. Just focus on basics for me. But if perks are your thing they have plenty of them. Fine star place. Very nice people"
"The original, and in my opinion, the best of the Prairie Life fitness centers. Clean facility, laid out for efficient flow from cardio to weight room and back. Front desk staff and management are friendly and helpful, and group class instructors are approachable and help beginners get oriented quickly. Open late. Welcoming atmosphere that supports people of all fitness levels and ages."
"Great place to workout! Been going here for a few years, I recruit everyone I know to go to Orangetheory! Best workout and it is for all ages. It's so nice fo not have to think about what to do! The coach and staff go above and beyond, I never have a bad day when I go to OTF!"
"A top, no non-sense gym that will have you training like an athlete. I have become stronger mentally and physically. More supple and learned more about nutrition then any regular gym can provide. The community around is a huge aspect as well. Everyone pushes you to be your best regardless of fitness level."
"Fun clean and family friendly. Everything here for a great workout. Plenty of parking and knowledgeable friendly staff as well. Opens at 5am a plus. Pool and locker rooms are clean and efficient."
"The easiest membership to have. The cost is insignificant for the amount you can go. (Around $49/month, add ons are $39). The HotWorx gyms are open 24 hours which means if you can't sleep in the middle of the night, you just type in your passcode and can sweat it out for that good good sleep. There are 9 saunas at this location, fewer at some others. 4 of them are for Hiit classes (rowing, cycle, and a bike called blast) that run every 15 minutes. The ISO workouts are 35-45 minutes long and are usually every 45 minutes so those are harder to find time to fit in your schedule if you find yourself swamped. Being that you can show up whenever you need makes it easy to not have an excuse to exercise...it's good for your mental health (and physical health of course). There are only 3 spots in each sauna so it's super important to sign up on the app. Saunas heat to 130 degrees max and you can lower it if you want. Every few months they change the videos to keep you from getting bored. There's an FX zone if you want weightlifting. You can rent a mat and towel for a few dollars if you don't have your own for the ISO workouts. They are staffed during the day about 11-8 so if you have any questions there's someone there to assist. Bonus; they have the cutest retail!! Definitely worth that free trial if nothing else!"
"It's been almost a year since I wrote my last review and I thought it was time for a follow-up. I live on the East Coast but became acquainted with Dynamix Strength and Fitness when I was visiting my sister in Omaha. I found the club to have a very welcoming atmosphere. It is clean and attractive with, mirrors, pictures on the wall, lighting effects, and toiletries for you to use in the restrooms. And everyone is very friendly. Most importantly, it has the best instructors of any club I have ever been to. During the early part of the pandemic when my own health club closed, I began taking barre, flow and yoga classes online through DynamiX, and I cannot say enough about how much more in shape I am today than when I started. The classes aren't easy. There were lots of things I couldn't do at first, and even now some moves are too hard for me, but I have kept at it - I still keep at it - and I amaze myself with how much I can improve. My sister takes different classes (body pump, body attack, body combat, and step), and she says she has wonderful instructors, too. If you live in Omaha, you can enjoy the social side of taking DynamiX classes in person, but I actually love attending online because I save so much travel time and am ready for the rest of my day as soon as class is over. Usually the instructor and sometimes a student or two chat with me before class, so I even get some socializing in. In fact, I never feel deprived of anything by exercising at home. On the contrary...."
"Awesome place to workout. Don't ask about the library! (Apparently they don't read books here, lol)"
"Amazing gym and really fair price. No frills, no gimmicks, just a group of people committed to helping each other hit their goals. Looked at a lot of gyms before coming here. Already part of the family. Love it."
"Filled out application for a 3 day pass online. Worked out at this location all 3 days. Staff and members are super friendly and did not feel unwelcome once. Plenty of weights, cardio equipment, and other amenities. Really enjoy the dry sauna. Was disappointed they didn't have a wet sauna (steam room). Indoor pool with 2 lanes. Half a basketball court with one hoop. Did not do any workout classes but they looked full and engaging. 3 stars given because the club does have some defects. Quite a bit equipment was out of order. Most if not all cardio, weight machines, and free weights were very dated with a lot of torn seats, dents, scratches, etc. Main level had massive water stains (more than one) on the floor that appear to have been there for some time. Overall, club was fine to workout at. Plenty of options amenities and options. Would not be my first choice if had other locations close by."
"This is a great facility. My son broke his ankle wrestling and had 14 screws and a plate put in. After all the surgeries and casts we put him in 25 physical therapy sessions at another Hospital. After all that he still wasn't ready so we were referred here. Large, bright, clean and modern facilities. Great therapists who take their time and also work in conjunction with the schools trainers. Great variety of equipment. Convenient West O location. I wish i had known about this place months ago."
"Excellent trainer and fit family atmosphere. If you wish to get into the best shape of your life you can't do it alone. Ish is with you every step of the way. Highly highly recommend! Love my Ish fitness family! You should join us!!"
"I've been visiting this gym for the past few years and am satisfied overall. The facility is clean and provides a variety of gym equipment options. In addition, it's typically not fiercely overcrowded like larger gym facilities. Memberships are fairly reasonably priced. However, I feel that Blue Moon Fitness could be a little more transparent with annual renewal fees. As well as the implementation of a communication system would be nice. I ran into an issue where I found myself disputing charges with one of the staff for 20+ minutes. It got to the point where I decided to leave for the night without working out since it appeared to be such a hassle. The issue was resolved several day later but it should have never gotten to that point to begin with."
"I could not love a "gym" more! I put gym in quotations because Edge is so much more! It's honestly so much fun. The different workouts every day keep me interested, everyone is so encouraging and motivating and I've never felt uncomfortable doing a workout. I've always started a workout program and then quit 10 days later. I'm happy to report that I'm 3 weeks in and still look forward to going to Edge everyday. They offer a free week. Just try it and I guarantee you'll be hooked like me!"
