Phenomenal!!! I ordered the queen cut prime rib and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had - extremely tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. They have daily specials, a fresh and varied salad bar, and a generous menu of quality homestyle cooking, not to mention the insanely affordable prices.The ambiance made for a unique dining experience. Gregorian chants were playing outside. When you step through the heavy wooden doors, you enter into another world of subdued grandeur. Every room is designed to mimic a different section of a monastery and the details are authentic, down to the selection of real aged classic books on the full wall of shelves. What stood out to me was the patience and kindness of the wait staff. I had lost my voice and was dining alone, communicating through writing. Never once did I feel overlooked or condescended to. The waitress even joked with me at the end! They are genial on the phone as well and let me know they can store your luggage safely while you dine. I left stuffed to the brim with delicious steak and warm hospitality. A must-visit in Omaha.

The food is too expensive to be this mediocre. Fiancé ordered a steak blue rare and it was probably more on the medium side. The waitress was great and immediately took it back and they made a new one. Salad bar is sad and it's funny they imply you can go up one time. The decor is cheesy. I saw another review saying this was a place your grandparents would love and that couldn't be more spot on. Lobster was a bit dry, but the crab was delicious.

OK, there may be some in Omaha who love this place, I'm sorry in advance. But I've also talked to some Omaha natives who agree with me on this.I also want to say that I've been getting heckled for 5 years by co-workers who I took to this place thinking it was all that. It wasn't.I think I also need to say that I haven't been here is that same 5 years since, so it might have improved, but based on what I've heard, not so much.So I'd never been to Omaha before (years ago) and when we arrived I asked the hotel concierge, our Uber driver and a couple of other locals to recommend the best steakhouse they could. They ALL said Brother Sebastians. So we went! I took a group of 10 or so co-workers to dinner here. Sigh.When we rolled up, we saw that the restaurant was in a strip mall, which isn't an indictment, but didn't bode well either. Then we saw that it was decorated in late 16th century monastery and had Gregorian chants playing as ambiance music. Hmmm. Going inside, it was dark-ish and monastic but still we kept our resolve.The food was "meh" at best. The steaks were rather tepid and grey-ish and the rest of the dinner was unremarkable. The salad bar had a sneeze guard on it, super classy. I honestly can't remember anything about the service, so it was probably acceptable.Suffice to say, I've now broken the vow of silence on this place and we won't be back.

I've recently been on an adventure out of morbid curiosity to eat at the old classic steakhouses around Omaha that I hadn't tried. I'd been to Venice Inn, Piccolo's, Gorat's and Mr C's in my childhood, so there were just a few I had to hit in my adulthood to finish my quest. Brother Sebastian's was one of those, and it was surprisingly pleasant!My husband and I went at lunch time because we live pretty close so could just bop over for a quick bite. It was still pretty busy, even being in the middle of the week, but the lunch portions and prices are a big draw, I think.The busy atmosphere didn't hurt the service one bit, and we had a great server who gave us a few suggestions (especially when it came to dessert, but I'll get to that later). And as the atmosphere goes, it is pretty dim and reminiscent of an Italian monastery/winery, with Gregorian chant type music playing and wine barrels worked into the decor. There are a few different areas of the establishment, and they are all named for parts of the monastery (the chapel, the winery, the study, etc).We started with the salad bar, and it was pretty great, with lots of options for toppings (including eggs and olives, which are my go-to). I had Thousand Island dressing but it was not the peach color we're used to, it was most-likely a homemade version that was very pale/almost white and SO good. A lot lighter tasting also than the Thousand Island I'm so used to at salad bars. My husband tried the traditional red dressing that Brother Sebastian's is known for, and it was also amazing - I will get that next time we go, for sure.You also get warm rolls with some decadent whipped butter to begin the meal, but definitely don't fill up on that!I chose the lunch size of the Beef Stroganoff, and it was so tasty and hearty. Large linguine noodles topped with perfectly seasoned beef, and the portion is HUGE, even at lunch time. I know you can also get this on the dinner menu, but I can't imagine it needing to be much larger. This also came with some toasted garlic bread that was a nice touch, as I had a little bit of the beef on the garlic bread too.My husband got the Chicken Fried Chicken, and it was served with mashed potatoes and chicken gravy. I had a few bites of his and it was wonderful too - very homey and nostalgic, like something your family would make at Thanksgiving. Excellently cooked and succulent chicken, with breading that wasn't too crunchy and gravy that was just the perfect mix of salty and savory. You can't go wrong with this one.We wanted to try a few desserts (one each), so I got the Raspberry Bread Pudding, because I'm a big bread pudding fan. It was warm and filled with fresh berries and custard, and topped with some white chocolate drizzle. It was almost TOO good, but I did eat as much as I could while saving room to share some of my husband's desserts choice.He ordered the chocolate cake, which our server suggested and told us was the specialty of a long-time customer/baker. It was DELISH, with four layers of rich chocolate cake, chocolate ganache frosting between them, and a buttercream chocolate frosting that was to die for. This was a chocolate bomb in the best way possible, but you definitely should probably share it with someone vs. ordering it only for yourself only.We were there at lunch time, like I said, but the low cost of this meal was SUPER surprising. With two meals, two salad bars, two desserts, and drinks, the entire meal was under $55 for two, at a nice sit down, steakhouse. As I said, I'm working my way through the classic steakhouses of Omaha, and this one has been my favorite so far. I definitely recommend this for a special occasion, a date night, a business meal, or just for a nice lunch or dinner out for any occasion.

This is an Omaha staple I have wanted to cross off my list for years! As you walk up to the restaurant entrance and are 10 feet from the doors I began to hear music with monk chanting overlayed on top of it. This was such a fun touch to setting the mood for the dining experience before even entering the restaurant itself. we arrived around 11:30 am on a Friday and were immediately seated. All the seating options have phenomenal decor surrounding them, some have you surrounded by a library of old books others have you seated in a wine cellar-esque room with a warm fireplace. I give the monk-themed ambiance a 10/10 rating. I was a fan of the lunch menu options, I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich Au Jus with a fully loaded sweet potato. My mother took a trip to the salad bar and ordered some French Onion Soup. Both meals came with homemade, warm rolls-their bread made in-house is amazing (I could have eaten a whole loaf in one sitting). Service was speedy and staff was super friendly. Portions and prices were reasonable.

I went here for a work dinner, my coworker has been her several times before. Love the monastery atmosphere of the place. Service was excellent, although the steak not so much. The salad bar is a nice touch. We both ordered sirloin steaks and they were borderline inedible. From what I could tell the flavor was there but it was tough and the knife could barely cut it. Yes, we could have complained but after a long day of work we were done. We had filled up on bread, salad, and a glass of wine anyway. We were one of the last diners there for the night. I believe my coworker that it's a good place since she has always enjoyed her meals there. I guess they were off this night.

This review is based on food, service, cleanliness, atmosphere, and value.The food was okay. I wouldn't order the sampler again. Did not enjoy. It just seemed like frozen food section items at the grocery store. The salad bar was good. My steak was underwhelming. I ordered the 22oz porterhouse. It was a tad overcooked, but also not a great cut. The service was okay. The dining area was clean from what I could tell, but it was so dark it's hard to say. The atmosphere was weird, with the whole monk/cult theme. The value is where they take the biggest hit. They are changing premium prices, but are delivering mediocre food. Overall, not terrible, but also not worth the price. It's like an overpriced sizzler.

One of the best steak restaurants in the area . I love their prime ribs with the Queen cut . We went there 3 times in 2 weeks ! The lunch menu has the same Queen cut prime ribs with mushrooms and one free side but it is $7 less than the dinner price ! Love their dessert cooked cherry in wine and pour over vanilla ice cream . The decoration is like inside a monk seminary. Each section of the restaurant is decorated differently! You get a fry salad bar with diner and the salad is fresh with a variety of vegetables . Excellent dining experience!

This is my go to place every time. It has great food, great prices, and wonderful ambience. It can get a bit busy, but the staff is very friendly and tries to accommodate each person. Every time I go to Omaha, this is a must go to place.

My ribeye was really good, but I was very disappointed by my two sides. Both were pretty bland and I didn't really enjoy them. Would definitely be a 5 star experience if they had more flavorful sides!
