Birrieria El Chalan

Their birria tacos are the best I have ever had. I love coming here for these. Make sure to bring cash though as this is their only form of payment they accept.

The place was super busy. Which is great for the restaurant. We ordered our food it was out within 5 minutes. It was freshy made. I ordered tacos and Chile Riano . I wasn't to much of a fun of the Chile. There was no meat or cheese in to. The tacos were delicious. I will return to try more on the menu.

There was a long wait, but that was a good sign. There is nothing fancy about this place at all. However, the waitresses and waiters were working hard to get people seated. The food was so flavorful and delicious. It is a cash only restaurant. Parking can be a challenge if it is busy. We will be back soon to try other dishes. All waitstaff were so nice that we tipped extra. Being nice makes a difference in this industry.

I read a lot of mixed reviews and we still went to check it out. THE FOOD IS GOOD!The menudo was awesome. Best menudo I've tired in Omaha. The pieces were a little bigger than I'd like but the soup had a great flavor and it was served hott. We took my super critical Mexican mother even she liked the menudo. Fresh hand made tortillas come with the big bowl of menudo. We also ordered tacos and the birria quesadillas, which were also bomb.com Prices are okay. Tacos are $2.50 but they're big and come with those fresh handmade tortillas. The menudo is $14.50 it's a little pricey but, 1. It's good 2. Food is expensive everywhere. -SÚPER FRIENDLY STAFF. -Only down fall is that it's CASH ONLY and they didn't have glass cokes.

This place is BUSSIN! You want some authentic real mexican quesabirrias? COME HERE THIS THE SPOT!! Thwy great for the price and when eaten with the consome its the best! So flavorful. They being the food out relatively quick. Only part i did not like was its not the cleanest inside and its old wobbly tables but that does NOT change the way the food tastes DELICIOUS DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THE QUESABIRRIAS.

Birrieria El Chalan has become my go-to sit down Mexican restaurant in South O. Homey, comfortable, with the same 2 ladies working the front serving and running the show. The food here is simple and delicious. The normal South O menu exists here- toras, street tacos, burritos etc, but they also have super delicious meat/soup/stews like the pork rib stew and the beef chunk stew, which is served with a platter of rice and beans and some warm tortilla to make your own tacos with it. Perfect for a cool fall day or a rainy day blues. The fresh guac here is outstanding and very inexpensive for the qaulity. I also love the texture of the house chips and all the varieties of salsa. CASH ONLY but 100% worth your time and the inconvenience.

So this is definitely a Mexican diner like vibe. It's super weird to be dining out in Covid times, especially in a place that was packed. We got:1. Chilaquilles - delicious 2. Crunchy birria tacos with consommé - amazing 3. Beans and rice - best I've had 4. Carne Asada tacos - just okay. I like taqueria Tijuana's better. My daughter did have a metal piece hers. So that was off putting Disappointed that the restaurant didn't require people to wear masks while waiting for takeout. It made me feel slightly stressed during meal. One star off for metal wire - not good. But the food besides that was good.

A more traditional Mexican restaurant known for goat stew but they also have the classic taco's, tostada's and sopes. I had 2 tacos, 1 tostada, and 1 sopa and was stuffed. You also get complimentary chips and salsa which was nice.They key - get the horchata. I don't have it often, but it is so delicious.

I believe I got the #1. This is definitely the best birria in town! The tortillas are homemade, they give you a side of lime cilantro and onion to add to your liking! Agua de horchata is perfect as well! I cannot remember the name of our server but she made us feel so welcomed and was just so nice to us. I will definitely be back!

They have the best birria tacos and horchata ever. They only accept cash! The service AMAZING... I just love it here. Wish I could live in the restaurant.
