I went to Amigo's Market because I read that they have the best pupusas in town. I sat at the counter unsure of the ordering process--- Tip: unless you speak Spanish, I would suggest heading to the cashier counter to order before finding a seat. The cashier was super friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. I ordered two pupusas---bean/cheese and loroco flower/cheese. My bill was quite inexpensive. The food is made to order and comes hot. I highly suggest this place and will absolutely return to get my pupusa fix.

Pupusas. Since I discovered these little babies a few years back, my life has been forever changed. Found Amigo's Market after a search for the delicious meat pancake/tamale/heaven (pupusas) and the stellar reviews. We were the only people in here on a Friday at lunch, so we bellied up to the bar and were greeted by the friendly family that run the place. I love finding places like this, and although its in an older building, it was very clean, the prep and containers for all the food being prepared was clean, organized and the hand washing of the employees is in clear view, so no worries about that! The made to order atmosphere is great, sip on an iced horchata while the ladies create the masterpieces on the hot griddle in front of you. We ordered a variety of items: steak taco, a Salvadorian quesadilla, and of course pupusas. The items came out in and assembly line so it allowed us to sample everything while it was steaming fresh. The accompanying house hot sauces were top notch and the pickled cabbage slaw was refreshingly tart. Now, we ate a hefty amount and still had leftovers, and our total bill was $18.00. Yes, not kidding, see my pictures so you can believe the size of these homemade items. I for one cannot wait to come back her with my kids and friends. Amigo's Market, thank you for being there to satisfy a craving, and to introduce me to a new place that will be added to our rotation.

This is one of my best discoveries this year! I read the wonderful reviews on Yelp and decided to visit! Food-5/5 Come here for the pupusas. Hot and Freshly made right in front of you. I tried the one stuffed with pork and cheese and the one stuffed with Loroco flower. I loved the one with the Loroco flower. I also tried the tamales, but I would give that a miss the next time. Service-5/5 Our servers were smiling and prompt. Communicating with them also wasn't much of an issue, even though I hardly speak any Spanish.Very clean place. The food is extremely affordable too. Has a well-stocked grocery on one side. I'm sure I'll be coming back a whole lot! :)

So here's the deal. This is a classic abarrotes type joint that serves honest to goodness Salvadoran food. It's made to order, takes a while and they aren't all things to all people. No free WiFi, no outlets, and no loyalty program asking for checkins and shout outs. And that is exactly why I love this place. The owners run the place and their only employee is a family member. The star of the show is the pupusa. All juvenile jokes aside, these little circles of masa, beans, cheese and pork are $1.50 each. They're grilled and get nice and crispy. Eat them right off the grill and you will burn the hell out of your mouth. They come with salsa and curtido (vinegary spicy coleslaw) on the side.Try it out

I highly recommend the pupusas --very tasty. We watched them shape and pound the dough out by hand. You know it's going to be fresh when the dough is made from scratch. I'll definitely return to try some more menu items.

Probably best pupusas in town. Caldos are really good, specially the Mondongo (Pata), which is the Salvadorean equivalent to Menudo. Traditional breakfast is amazing and cheap. This is a hidden gem.My heart rejoices with pupusas, chocolate caliente and quesadillas de pan on a cold day.

If you want a delicious meal on the cheap in a no frills environment, look no further than Amigo's Market. Come here for delicious pupusas, tamales and more. There are two sections to Amigo's - one side is a cozy little market where you can pick up your basic groceries. The other side houses a restaurant where you can watch the cook(s) make your food up fresh right in front of you. Being located at 21st and Q makes it a little off of the usual South O the beaten path, but it's definitely worth the visit. Because, well, deliciousness.

This place is fantastic. I've been wanting to go here for weeks after reading the one other review from Austin K. The pupusas are so good. They are so warm and fresh and definitely fluffy goodness. Tonight we shared pork, bean, and chicken pupusas. All were great, but the chicken is definitely what I'll order next time. The curtido coleslaw is great to throw on them. A great extra flavor and crunch. We also had some horchata which was delicious. Tip: size-wise, they're about 4-6 inches...if you're a normal gal, you can eat 2 of them and will be stuffed.Everything here is made fresh and to order. The horchata is also made there, and it seemed the woman in charge was pretty proud of it. She was SUPER sweet. If you're looking for some authentic El Salvadorian food, or want to try some authentic home cooking, this is it. Also, dirt cheap. For 5 pupusas, 2 horchatas, and a bottled Fanta, it was roughly $13. Guys...$13! And I had to nearly be rolled out of there.
