Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs

I am not a casino person, and have only been to a handful to casually play slots and blackjack. Overall this is a better vibe than other casinos that I've been in. It is much cleaner, and doesn't smell of smoke. The staff was fine, not overly attentive, but we got what we needed when we asked.The sports bar has a good menu that isn't too pricy--we enjoyed the nachos and a couple cocktails. My group played at the blackjack table, and the dealers were very friendly and personable.Overall I would choose this spot over other casinos I've been in!

We took one for the team tonight. Team Crablegs, that is. The line was LONGGG but we got in around 8p or so.Our every-ten-year trip to the casinos buffet was tonight, all thanks to remembering Friday nights are all you can eat, crablegs. And quite honestly, I feel dirty now... BUT... all jokes aside, there was never a lull in their dishing out new trays of legs. They do have other items out - like their salad bar, Chinese, Italian, desserts, and soul food - but the star of the show, were these bad boys and girls. Now I do eat animals and very rarely feel bad about it, but with the sheer amount of legs brought out, I felt bad tonight ‍ their fancy little red thingys, that are meant to aid you in obtaining the insides of said legs, was useful. You still need at least a few long nails, and some major thumb strength at times. Wash your hands at least thrice before you head home! The butter though... it's just not good... BUT do we really need butter if the meat is decent?So if you've got a little extra money to spend for the month, might be worth a little trip to Iowa and partake in the every-ten-year casino buffet eating frenzie.

Wanted to finally try the buffet. The prime rib was cold, a lot of the food had been on the buffet for quite some time. If we had to do it over, would not of spent the money. The waiter did not check on us at all. Very disappointing. Was hoping it was as good as pre-Covid. Definitely was not.

DO NOT GO TO THIS CASINO!!! I have a friend that I met that works there, he told me their slots are rigged!!! They will get new slot machines every now and then every once in a blue moon they won't get the chance to rigged the nee machines and they will pay out like they should but only once in a blue moon this happen, otherwis, I can promise you will lose your money! They are disgusting!!! They robbed me one night I had $10 dollars on 32 and when it went to add the funds it didn't calculate my winnings and froze! I took a picture of my winnings and showed upp management and they still didn't pay me out at all. they gave me a coupon and said it was the best they can do! TRUE Story!!!! I will never be back there!!! EVER!!!!

I don't like leaving negative reviews. In fact, they're very rare, but the people need to know. Not the local people because they already know. If you're visiting and looking to play or eat at a casino--or if you're looking for entertainment, then Horseshoe is a way better option. Well, food at Horseshoe isn't great either but everything else is much better. The design of Ameristar is nice and appealing when you walk in, but it's a facade. It's three levels of slots and it's a low-vibration vibe. I must have walked through three levels in 10 minutes and couldn't wait to leave. I figured the food would be better because the restaurants look well kept and are appealing to the eye, but it's a trap. At first I went to Club 38 but the hostess explained that I wasn't allowed in because it was a private club. Okay then..... I went to the buffet where they gave me a tour. Looked okay enough for a lot of food. I paid $48 for lukewarm food that tasted like it just came off an assembly line. The best food I had here was grapes. So, if you want to pay $50 for grapes, go for it. And while most of the staff was friendly, the prime rib guy was rude as hell. Anyway, the food wasn't good at all--it's clearly obvious they could care less about quality and want to sell the casino buffet experience. Even my sugar cookie was stale. The waitstaff was excellent, so there is one plus. Whether you want to play slots or eat food, don't go anywhere near this place. It's cramped and overpriced. Do Not Attempt. If you do, you will regret it.

This is a pretty standard casino, but with a few drawbacks.I prefer the nearby Horseshoe casino to Ameristar, but Ameristar is more the "glitz and glamour" casino style if that's what you're looking for. There are three separate floors, all with slots, some with table games, roulette, etc. The reception area is also pretty nice for weddings/parties/etc. Cleanliness could be a little better, as there were cigarette butts and empty soda cups everywhere.

Decent casino in my. opinion, as I only go to the casino once every couples of years. It hasn't changed that much though, since I was kid and came to Kid's Quest inthe 90's the town vingette when you walk in is pretty similar. I've enjoyed time on the patio at the sports bar, buffet for a holiday, and now as an adult the slots. I've won quite a bit on some of the fun themed machines. Service is relatively good and attentive. The place is clean-ish. My husband stayed here overnight for his bachelor party and enjoyed it. One of the only spots in the area with hot tubs in the room.

Definitely had a great time, well worth the Trip. From all the fun slots to the delicious food. Highly recommend giving a chance to this great location

No bellman to help with cart for luggage. Reservation people all on their phone not being very warm and inviting. Was told if you checked before 30 minutes early a few would be added. Didn't understand if the room was ready why we could not stop our stuff off and gambling. Afterall, pretty sure that is where they make their money. Again when we left called and asked for a cart to be brought up to our room. Front desk said it would be awhile she was by herself but we could always get one ourselves. When we checked out again 4 people with their phones out not paying attention to people right in front of them. They did have a robot security guard, not sure how safe that made me feel.

I'd recommend yes but I would love to know why in the world you would get rid of your seating benches out front!? Currently I'm waiting for my ride and having to stand here the whole time is just rude!
