It is hard for me to write this review because I am happy with the end result and the fence I now have but the process was so much more difficult than it needed to be, largely due to poor communication. While I understand that building companies, including fencing companies, are overwhelmed with demand and limited supply right now, I felt that the price with AFC was higher than quoted that I received from other companies. However, I ended up going with them because I liked the design more and I felt more comfortable that the project estimator/project lead knew what I wanted the best with AFC. After the deposit was paid, the survey was done is quite rapid fashion. However, it then took an inordinate amount of time to get the lines staked, including multiple unreturned phone calls. When the fence was finally staked, it wasn't staked at all in compliance with the plans we had agreed on. And it took another week and multiple phone calls resolve that. The fence installation itself was relatively smooth, except they forgot to haul away the old fence (which was in the contract) and they forgot the caps for the fence posts and they didn't alert me that a gate wasn't going to fit as originally anticipated. Thankfully, these issues were resolved much more quickly than the others and the office manager did give me an overall discount on my project. However, for the price I paid and the reassurances I had received that communication had improved, I was disappointed in the whole process. I do have to applaud Robert though. He was my point of contact throughout the process and was incredibly helpful in fixing issues and took a lot of personal responsibility for the way the project went. I think he is quite good at his job and I enjoyed working with him.

I struggled in writing this because at the end of the day, we are happy with the fence we received, and this is the second fence American Fence has installed for us, but their communication was so poor throughout this process, I would not recommend or use again. Lets start at the beginning - we ordered the fence in late March/early April, it was completed on September 24th. I do not fault them for this, so many misc. materials are hard to come by these days, but after months of my husband requesting updates with no response and him finally insisting he receive an update each week, did we start to get some sort of regular communication. American Fence did not give us any sort of timeline for when our fence would be installed, meanwhile, a neighbor down the street recently purchased a fence from a competitor and was told it would be 20 weeks. Another one of my major gripes is we were very clear we wanted very little gap of time between the posts and fence being installed because we have a dog and were going from an older to newer fence. We were told multiple times this wouldn't be an issue and the fence would be installed a couple of days after the posts. Well, the posts were put up August 25 and fence September 24. We told them more than once to delay the job as necessary to ensure we had no big gap of time with no fence. This is only a portion of the issues we had with communication or requests being simply ignored. Again, quality of the product is good so if you have the patience to deal with lack of communication, you may be fine with American Fence, but if you decide to go with them, keep this in mind.

Was very pleased with American Fence. They put up a fence in our backyard a few months ago and did a wonderful job. The gate in the backyard had separated to a point where it wouldn't close. I spoke with American Fence last week, and they came out today, built a new gate and all is good. Job well done!

I agree with the other reviews. Shame on me... I used them twice because I had a time sensitive job and they were available. I was sorry. Fence was not installed as requested. Gates not in the right place big gaps at the bottom. Left behind a big mess. Collections called me before the job was complete demanding payment. Sent an email to the top exec who completely ignored my complaints.

Absolutely DO NOT USE these jokers!! They lie to you and promise things they should've easily been able to do!! They took 10 months to finish a privacy fence that BOTH gates still don't close right. Paid almost $6,000 for a fence that I'm not happy with. Won't answer the phone or return your calls unless you threaten them with legal action. EVERYTHING had to redone twice and they blame you for their employees mistakes! Worst home improvement experience ever!!The owner of American fence responded with this! Todd Lavigne This is the unfortunate reality of social media. It allows others like the above to share inaccurate information. Without disparaging anyone, I am proud to say that my Omaha branch provided above and beyond customer service in this situation, making several trips to the site due to the customer's demand that the fence be placed in a very awkward location. We hope our customer has the empathy and graciousness to pay their bill in-full as it is considerably past due. Bottom line, I have no regretts in how our staff represented themselves. By no means are we always perfect but I admire that our team always provided their very level best. But this is what Really happened!! This is how it really happened!! He wanted to put us down on something his company messed up on time and time again!! Having to call time and time again leaving a ton of messages and getting absolutely no response we were left with a terrible job and the fence is still not done!!! They wanted it paid in full for a job done terribly!! They don't even deserve a star! If there was a negative star I would give them a negative 5!! Mr Lavigne just proved my point that he blames us(the customer) for his employees mistakes. His salesman forgot to make a very important change to our contract for that placement of the fence. But he remembered the extra charges for hand digging. That we ended up digging ourselves! His employee came out and staked the placement of the fence and we were happy with it. Several weeks later when the project was supposed to start. We found out that they staked placement over our gas line, instead of canceling. American fence and I agreed to have my father and I hand dig the holes. Once the holes were dug, an American fence crew and two city workers deemed it safe to proceed. The day the posts were being installed we had two issues that occurred. Their trucks transmission went out and dumped fluid in front of our house. We were told for several weeks that they were going to bring a power washer and clean it up. But they never did so we cleaned it ourselves. The second issue was the biggest one and could have been avoided. While our posts were being installed WE STOPPED THE HEAD CREW LEADER AND VOICED OUR CONCERNS about how high the posts were being set. We wanted our fence tight to the ground. He told us they looked like they were off the ground and that was due to the slope in our yard. After they were installed we found out they were set for 2" to 6" gap off the ground. This took several phone calls, weeks and several trips out to fix their mistake. We also had a post that was scratched up. They did replace it for us, but replaced it with a post that was even more damaged. They didn't believe us, so we had to send in photos. That post had to be replaced three times. Both of our gates do not open or close properly. But we have decided to not have American Fence fix them. Our fence was missing one decorative post topper, it took several calls from October to February to get the fence topper. This project took from May 2017 to February 2018 they offered a measly $300 off of a almost $6,000 fence. We missed 2 days of work due to the MUTIPLE ISSUES and lost more then $300 in wages alone. Our bill was not going to be paid in full until we received the topper and the fence was completed. Our bill IS paid in full and you would know that if you would check your records.

Will not recommend. Lack of communication, installed incorrect fence and told us that is what we paid for but after we fought back stating we paid for a different (more expensive) fence they finally said they had their quotes wrong and they did install the incorrect fence. Jeff was nice on the phone when we first reached out about quotes but it was extremely difficult to reach him anytime after that, spoke with Kevin who is either the Director or Manager about all the issues we had and he just kept stating that we got the fence we wanted in the end and didnt seem to care much about the fact that we were upset about the entire process. Just kept saying that is what happens in construction sometimes and mentioning how much business they have and how mistakes happen with how much quotes they are doing and how much work they have. I understand errors can happen but show your customers how much you appreciate them and how much their business means to you by being better at communicating and owning up and apologizing for mistakes. How is this company still in business. A fence that was supposed to be installed in December didn't get finished until Feb/March. Even though the utilities were marked they still managed to cut the Spectrum cable, and a Lincoln Electric cable. To add insult to injury they bill the customer for the repairs they are billed from the utilities. The Spectrum repair will cost be $2000, and I don't know yet about the Lincoln Electric repair. (Yes, the fact that they bill is in the contract, but they danced around that saying they never have a problem). DO NOT, under any circumstances, contact American Fence. It's amazing how an organization that large can be nothing more than a fly by night company.

We hired them in early May. They used subs and it took them forever to complete our fence (posts set in late June and fence panels installed a month later) and they did a terrible job. They had to come back several times to fix mistakes and it still isn't right. They smashed plants, left metal from our chain link fence all over, and spilled concrete throughout our yard. The fence was uneven - If I wanted it to look like my husband did it we wouldn't have paid them!!!! They agreed to give us a discount and we've been waiting for over a month for the bill. My husband even talked to them this week. It is now Sept. and in today's mail we get a past due notice but still have not actual received an itemized bill. Terrible customer service and would not recommend.

Kevin Dooley and his 2 guys Alex and Christian were beyond kind. Due to issues with my neighbor I had to relocate my fence not once but twice. They came right back out and moved the posts no complaints no delays. Quality work and they took there time each time making sure the posts were all even and level. I'm so appreciative! Thank you guys!

We waited 3 months for them to start installing our very standard yard fence. It took another 3 months and the support of the Better Business Bureau to get all the issues resolved. I would not recommend doing business with American Fence
