I was shivering from a long swim when I arrived, and the waitress noticed and offered something my water clogged ears interpreted as "hot cuddle. Would you like this?" I immediately thought she was talking about a hot water bottle and said Yes please!!. I found out quickly that she was only offering to put on a 'hot kettle' for a mug of warm water. my disappointment was, yes, PALPABLE. ;-)In any case, she was very nice, quite slow to return every time (example: ordered Margherita upon start of entrée, got it as I was finishing entrée) but thoughtful and friendly. The Marg, btw was very refreshing, very limeade-y.I had the filet mignon kabob where even the grilled veggies were a star unto themselves - charred just enough and on the heat the right amount of time. Of course, the tender chunks of meat exuding its juicieness onto the bed of saffron rice, making the soft grains twice as delicious. Wife got the salmon - maybe just the tiniest of tads towards the dry side but still quite good. Do not get the tiramisu. Bleah. Totally worth going, though; we had an ocean view and a great time.

The good: Great location, right by the water, parks, and shops. Plenty of Mediterranean options to choose from, but we went the classic gyro. The pita was soft, the gyro meat was flavorful, and it was loaded with sauce and feta. Service was friendly and attentive. The not-so-good: Expensive, but that's also the area in general. Portion sizes were a little on the smaller side. They didn't have lamb for the gyro meat, so we went with beef.Food/drink: 8/10Atmosphere: 8/10Service: 9/10

Came for a business dinner and was able to share an array of appetizers. They were all good but nothing was a "wow". The shrimps with the guac was fresh and well seasoned. We really liked the fresh chips too. I ordered the mahi mahi which came with a pesto couscous. Fish was alright, but something tasted off with the pesto - I wonder if it's because it was nut free. Overall, not a bad option in La Jolla but also won't be my first choice in the area.

Roberto was our waiter and he was EXCELLENT! My niece and I had a great view of the ocean. The food was really good. The service was excellent. We would certainly recommend this for anyone coming in for the first time to San Diego!

Fantastic ocean view on a sunny day. Ordered Bro Burger, Gyros, and a Pasta. All were ok / nothing special. Average $30/person. Paying for the view. Received a nice greeting upon arrival but service was not too speedy. Ok place if you want to stop in for a leisurely lunch.

I wanted to leave a positive review so badly but my entire dining experience was completely frustrating. I will start off by saying we came in with a large party - 24 to be exact. Our party had a reservation for 7:30. We arrived a little early and we're greeted and seated. The rest of our party didn't arrive until 8:00 because the parking situation is so bad. The restaurant is definitely not at fault for the parking, it's kind of expected with that area. It was then about 30 minutes to take our order and so a few appetizers were requested. We got the hummus and the calamari. The pita bread was cool and the calamari was chewy. Bar drinks were also underwhelming. The beer wasn't very cold which is odd when ordering a draft beer. We were told that tons of items were unavailable. The entire kids menu was also unavailable aside from one item, which is frustrating when you have 4 kids who aren't thrilled with the adult menu options or the one solo item available (and also expensive). I wanted to order the salmon, that was unavailable. We finally placed our order to have them come back and tell us one of the items we ordered was also now unavailable. 1/3 of our table got its food 30 minutes before the final 1/3. Somehow we were the first ones there and the last ones to be served after arriving to the reservation 2 hours prior. My food finally arrived after 9:00 pm and at that point I would have eaten anything just to be completely disappointed. My mahi mahi was really over cooked and the flavors on the plate were just not my favorite, it was very salty. My husband's steak kabobs were very good though. We did go quite a long time waiting for refills and never received salad dressing that was asked for. Finally we were ready to check out and then told they could only split the check evenly 3 ways. I mentioned at the beginning of dinner who was on my tab and was told that it would divided up at the end. This was incredibly frustrating. All and all I felt like the staff was trying to keep things light and I do understand the stress of a large party. The restaurant itself was nice due to location. I personally won't be coming back but I did see some food items looked good. I did not get to photograph my experience since I was feeling frustrated, I just felt like they were very underprepared.

This place is okay but the view & ambiance makes it good. The food was pretty good, it wasn't anything crazy different. The rice was good but the meat was a tad dry. I came for lunch on a Saturday but it wasn't that busy. The service wasn't great. They kept forgetting stuff that we had asked like extra lemon or extra napkins. I don't think they refilled our waters or anything which sucked on a hot day. The vibe is really what saves it. The view is stunning and the balcony seating is great for a cute date.

Come for the vibes, not necessarily for the food. Everything was palatable, but that was about it. Beautiful rooftop spot and service was attentive. They have vegan options as well. Hummus trio - the flavored hummus was yummy, but there was not quite enough pita. The meat on the Gyro plate was dry, not great. It just felt like everything could have been turned up a bit. Limoncello cake was the best part of the meal!

I'm always on a look out for a good lamb shank and was so happy to find Olive & Basil on a recent San Diego trip. This restaurant is a short walk from the La Jolla Underwater Park where we went to see the seals. It is a full on Greek restaurant with a full menu of Greek cuisine. Within our party, everyone looked their food and the balcony seating had the ocean as the backdrop. My lamb didn't disappoint, the potatoes were flavorful, and whatever drizzle around my plate was delicious.
