The food here is phenomenal. I have a garlic allergy, which is really hard at Italian restaurants. Andrew was so patient and understanding going between the chef and us multiple times. The results were outstanding. Great atmosphere, service and food!

I came here with my husband for our anniversary dinner, and it felt like we were in Europe for a few hours. I've always loved Old Venice, but I've never sat on the patio. It was so elegant and romantic. I loved the lights, plants, and music. We got the arugula salad, the bulb and Brie, a create your own pizza with arugula, pepperoni, and prosciutto, and the lava cake for dessert. We definitely had enough leftovers for dinner for the next night. The service was amazing. The kind hostess took our photo and congratulated us on our anniversary, and our waitress was super sweet and attentive.

Old Venice is an iconic Point Loma eatery, with a warm neighborhood vibe. The facility itself is a bit of a hodgepodge of rooms and patios, which gives it some of its charm, but also keeps it from being elevated to four stars in my view. Visiting on a Friday evening, a little bit later than we wanted, we found the place mostly empty. The service was haphazard and slow, the tables and chairs on the outer patio that we sat at were old wrought iron, misshaped, and wobbly, with equally wobbly tables. Eclectic, but when you have to change your chair three times in order to find one comfortable enough to sit in, and that doesn't wobble, maybe they're overlooking some details. The entree & salas portions are large and though they were just two of us, the Caesar salad could've fed four - little did we know. The entrées also were well portioned, trending on the larger side, which is nice to see. We had the fresh catch, (sea bass) piccata style, and the rigatoni Bolognese. The latter was very good. To finish up, we had a Keylime pie, which was very good - the flavor was superb as was the texture, the crust could've been a little crunchier but that's nitpicking. Overall an enjoyable experience, but not a big deal. If you lived up the street and could walk to it on a weeknight, you'd consider it a nice neighborhood gem. Driving from more than a few miles away, you'll pass by a number of better Italian restaurants to get to this place.

Old Venice never disappoints and continues as a long time favorite for many reasons. Beginning with the ambience, it is elegant and convivial in an understated way.The food is superb - loved the "La Regina" seafood pasta dish, and the lava cake with vanilla bean gelato for dessert. Plus, the service is great - Ashley was super attentive without being overbearing and had a great sense of timing. Overall, it was a terrific experience with a date.

The food at OV is consistently good; fresh and flavorful! Service is dependable and professional too. The restaurant is charming and comfortable. The acoustics make it easy to have a conversation with your guests. The bar staff; Omar and Josh are exceptional! You won't find better mixologists in Point Loma!

I have been here a few times and it has never disappointed; from date, to happy hour, to family celebration. The patio is perfect for a date, very romantic atmosphere, the bar is great for happy hour vibe and the restaurant is elegant. Service is wonderful, everyone is friendly and attentive. All the food I have had was delicious, flavorful and shareable. There is a great drink menu, lots of good wines and beer. A definite favorite place in Point Loma!

Was meeting some family from out of state for dinner near shelter island. Ran across Old Venice. A nice Italian Restaurant, looks like it's been around a while. But clean and homey. From the hostess to the food server everyone was very kind and polite. We had a party of 5 adults and 2 little ones. They accommodated us and we all felt welcomed. 4 of the adults chose lasagna and we all loved it. One of us stated this is the best lasagna I've ever had. The lone person that didn't have lasagna got a pesto cream shrimp pasta dish. It looked really good and he loved it. Nice wine selection and a good piece of tiramisu to finish off the meal. I can suggest Old Venice with confidence. Enjoy!!

It took us an hour before we ordered food and then waited another hour before we got the food.I took one star off because our food took so long. I would totally go back, I just hope they are faster

Amazing find! I am so glad we found this one Saturday night. Service was better than most high end restaurants in downtown. Our server Andrew could train others about what true service is. He was attentive, pleasant, knowledgeable and just a very friendly person. The food quality was about the best i have had in Southern California and greatly underpriced. This is my new favorite and i cant say enough good things. Thank you Andrew for making our night special.

I hate to leave this review...but last week we went to celebrate our 25th anniversary and it was the worst experience we ever had here. First, I had to ask a few times for water (throughout the night). When we shared with the server that we were celebrating our 25th anniversary - he laughed at us and said we were old (very awkward and did not make us feel good). The rigatoni was delicious as ever and so was the sea bass special (with a picada style) but the pizza and garlic bulb seemed off - not how we normally received it. We asked for the check a couple of times and it took what seemed forever cuz all we wanted to do was leave. There was a wedding in the back the same time but that is no reason why it should have felt/been this way for other customers.I was hesitant of writing this review since I love this place so much, but a friend wrote something on FB about a PL restaurant and I guess it was Old Venice and she also had a bad experience there. If we ever go back - I hope it's like the old times! I would give it 2.5 star review but there is no half stars.
