Love this place last 30 years!Great food. Great size portions. Excellent drinks, staff is always really friendly.Go there, good stuff.

Came here for an early breakfast and service was amazing! The servers were friendly and kept checking in on us.They also had live music starting around 9:30am, which was very entertaining and fun to have while enjoying your food.We got their famous old town carnitas plate and their street style tacos. Food was pretty average, but definitely an amazing vibe overall. I heard the drinks were good, so definitely check it out!

On a tour of San Diego, we were dropped off nearby and given a recommendation of this restaurant. We were very disappointed.The salsa we were given with the chips was a bit on the watery side but had a good flavor when you actually sensed it. Their fresh flour tortillas were excellent but probably the only thing I can rave about here. Between all of us in our group, we all had food that was bland and by no means satisfying. None of the meat on any of our plates had flavor and the shredded chicken was soupy, which caused the corn tortilla to dissolve. We were there during the lunchtime rush so the service was decent given how busy they were. But overall, given what we paid for such a disappointing meal is the hard part, after we given such a strong recommendation.

Every time I come to CA I love going to Old Town and eating here! The food is authentic fresh filling and delicious ! The chips are great! The shells are homemade. The service is friendly and accommodating! It's an adorable family resturant ! The decor and lamp posts are beautiful !

We would go 25 minutes in between seeing our server, and it took 20 minutes to receive the check. The food was standard Mexican cuisine. The prices were good for the area. I would probably pass on coming back in the future.

Known only to those in the know. The sizzling aroma of street tacos & homemade tortillas.But there was another reason I found myself here more often than not, and he was standing behind the bar, shaking up a cocktail with the kind of effortless flair that made you stop and stare. The bartender--how could I ever forget that smoldering smile, those piercing eyes that seemed to see right through you, and the way he moved, uuuffffff! Every time I ordered a margarita, it was like watching a master artist at work. He poured the tequila with precision, added the perfect amount of lime. It wasn't just the drink that made my heart race--it was the way he looked, his eyes full of mischief and a hint of something more. He is the life of the party, bantering with the regulars, making everyone feel like they were the only one in the room. His laugh was infectious, his smile dazzling! I found myself returning to that cantina time and time again, not just for the mouthwatering street tacos at a price that couldn't be beat, but for the chance to see him again, This place has a way of making you forget your troubles seeing the sexiest bartender I had ever laid my eyes on! for now, he remains a tantalizing mystery.

San Diego is one of the best places ever to get Mexican food in my opinion. And Located right in Old Town is the OldTown Mexican Cafe. The place is really big with multiple eating areas, inside, outdoor patio vibe, garden area, and bar tops. The service is fast and friendly and there are a bunch of employees. The food is delicious and they have plenty options. They even have good healthy options for Vegetarians and Vegans. Everything we got was super delicious! More traditional rather than taco shop vibes! Must try!

Menu items to suit all palates, including my selective one. Enjoyed the a-la-cart cheese enchilada w/salsa verde (green sauce). My BFF June was pleased w/crispy (not over crunchy) rolled potato tacos, blanketed with/pico de gallo.Service by Kathy simply unparalleled, often anticipating our needs. Ambiance feels genuine, breezy & comfort forward. Can't recommend this authentic spot enough!

This was the best mexican food I have had in my whole entire life and I have been to Mexico many time. It is very authentic. Everything tasted amazing and had large portions. The service was great and very quick. The prices were very low for the quality and sizes of the portions. The atmosphere and ambiance transported me right to Mexico. You can see the tortilla being made from the windows. I was overall an amazing experience and some.of the best food in general that I have ever had.​​
