I love HH for breakfast. Always get the plate w/ scrambled eggs & cheese, bacon, grits & biscuits. The size of their biscuits varies based on who's making them that day. Today was a good biscuit day. Nice & large. I've never really been a fan of their BBQ except that I do love their Brunswick stew. But based on other reviews, maybe I should give the ribs a try sometime. They're always packed on Saturday which is when we've visited recently. Servers are always nice & attentive. We'll return for sure.

So it's actually pretty good for what it is.I was craving ribs and decided to give Old Hickory House a try since the menu states the ribs are a customer favorite. The thing they do well, unfortunately, is sides. There was nothing hickory smoked about their ribs despite what they said on the menu. It's just flavorless meat with an obnoxiously sticky sauce. The Mac n cheese, collard greens, and fried green tomatoes, however, were surprisingly good! Our server was great... perfectly attentive, nice, and well-paced. No complaints there!

I have been going to Hickory House since I was around 10 years old. They had multiple locations back then. Fast forward z60 years and they are down to one location and I was near there this past week and no way was I going to not stop! The food has alway been incredible and my meal tonight was as great as always. The ribs were done to perfection, they rub the ribs in their house bbq the last few minutes while still on the smoker which is perfection. There were enough meaty ribs to take a few home for a second meal. The Brunswick stew is second to none that I have ever had. The meat to vegetable amount is just right. The baked beans are so good and the Texas toast is hot, garlicky and crispy crunchy! I guess my timing was perfect when I got there the restaurant was full and I was still able to dine a booth to sit in and the service was still very quick and my service was very professional in her attention to my needs. Definitely highly recommend this BBQ Restaurant is your in the area and want some great bbq that they have had decades to perfect their way!

I took a half mile walk from my hotel in Atlanta to Old Hickory House in Tucker, which was right at the edge of the city limits between Atlanta and Tucker. I knew I was getting close when the overwhelming aroma of delicious bbq was wafting in the air. This Tucker institution has been around for generations. You can tell it's a local favorite, and there are some longtime guests. I ordered the People Pleaser for some variety. It came with their succulent ribs and then sliced or chopped bbq pork and beef. I ordered it with sweet potato soufflé and corn muffins. There's an array of "fresh vegetable" choices aka the best sides on the planet. If you want to eat all the sides, there's a 4-vegetable plate too. As for service, you'll have the best experience if you're not in a rush. Take your time enjoying the vintage vibe. Glad I walked over because I needed to walk after such a hearty meal that was washed down with sweet tea. Would recommend for anyone looking to put the South in your mouth.

Wow! So glad we chose this place on the way home from a road trip this weekend! Some of the best BBQ I've ever had! We ordered online and the 30 min wait was worth it! The place was packed on a Sat. The chopped chicken was perfect in my opinion; not too sauced up so you can be healthy if you want. The thick BBQ on the side was so thick I wasn't sure if it was a side of baked beans at first! Collards were just what I expect from a side of southern greens but my favorite side was tbe potatoes salad! More potatoes than I normally get in each side and a great slightly sweet slightly tangy flavor! Large portion of chicken and not one but TWO delicious cornbread muffins !I will be back to sit in next time. Staff was friendly and had a southern charm in the air. My dogs in the parking lot loved the smells

Busy lunchtime, initial service was fine. Meals came quickly. Sandwiches were nothing special warm meat on cold bun) and sides were scant. You can change the sides that come with the platters (may have improved the experience). Never saw server again. Kind busi oerson brought boxes and found server so we could pay. Cost for lunch over $35. Will go someplace else next time.

The last one remaining in Atlanta and very blessed it's near our home. Great veggies, brunswick stew and bread. I normally get pulled pork plate. Grandson devoured the ribs on a recent visit. Friendly prompt service. Have also had breakfast there many times. Great biscuits/gravy!

My family had the best experience here. Our waitress was wonderful & attentive. The food hit the spot. Fresh off the grill hot. I've lived in Atlanta for 40 years and never been to this place. I always drove by it but never enter until this weekend. All I have to say I am disappointed in myself for waiting this long for all that yumminess

I am a certified bbq judge and have judged more than 100 contests. I generally don't go to bbq restaurants because they are usually sub par but Old Hickory was OUSTANDING! They got the ribs exactly right and I'm craving more!
