Old 5th Avenue Tavern

Do you like your beer whiff of mildew and a side of homophobia? If so, then this is your bar. After just two watered-down beers the bartender decided that this Queen had had enough, so She cut me off and I sat there and watched straight couples do coke on the booth tables while drinking tequila on the rocks. The bartender could not have been less subtle that she didn't appreciate me there, so I asked for the bill, tipped her 15% and left. I've lived 2 blocks away from this place for 18 years and I'm proud to say there is a reason why I have only been here a handful of times. They are homophobes. This place sucks. Never come here. Hopefully this will be a condo tower soon.

Neighborhood bar super clean. Love the owner and bartender. Always have been treated with respect and courtesy ( I'm Asian ) Regular hang out for me when I need a Nom rowdy good ol fashion bar with simple food items and good friends to join. I've introduced so many friends to this place and have never had a complaint. Lots of regulars. Dog friendly. Great outdoor patio now! If you request for another drink and bartender Gives you water... it likely means you should let have anymore to drink and less so another your race.

When you walk into the Old 5th, you immediately get a sense of the history, the character, and the charm of the place. Wood bar, wood floors, pool table in the back, low lighting, music playing on the new fangled juke box, local regulars peppered around the bar and tables, straightforward bar drinks, and a one woman show in the bartender/owner who keeps everybody pacified efficiently and courteously. You can throw in some chip and nut snacks or some solid daily specials such as Taco Tuesday, and there's no need to leave. People are throwing around the term dive bar like confetti. If you have an affinity for dive bars, then yes, this is a good one. If you turn up your nose at dive bar, then consider the Old 5th not a dive bar, but an institution, a historical landmark, a snapshot of a little piece of Seattle that time forgot and totally worth the visit.

I enjoy this place as it's a fun bar to stop in for a beer. The staff is always nice and the customers , mostly regulars keep to their self but are friendly. They have pool in the back and you can order off their small menu ( the nachos look really good ) or next door at the Hawaiian restaurant. It's definitely a dive bar though and keep your expectations at that level. My 84 year old mom had her first beer here back in the 60s and my grandpa used to come here all the time apparently. Great for watching sports and I always leaving expecting what I would at a local dive bar !

With one drink down and all our senses intact on an early evening to Old 5th Avenue, Bartender Tara kick us out because we dropped a cup. Nothing broke. Though, my friends and I are Asian women and that move was apparently too far for us to do? Like we cannot handle ourselves and alcohol... If you want to have a drink and not be racially profiled don't come here.

So happy they are able to be open. They have some heated outdoor seating and safety measures (plexiglass etc) set up inside. Love this bar!

Good spot, good location, really chill inside but also a couple TVs if you want to watch a game or something. Was a little pricier than I expected, but other than that was good.

I tried to hang in, but I just ended up talking to old people. That is what it is and I love geriatrics/ work in it but- owner is cuddly on surface, but terribly subjective as far a people. Honestly, I was waiting until I saw a cute girl walk in, never happened.This review is not based on looks, as if I am all that, just to say, for me to get a pulse in there during a 10$ beer y whiskey- pulling teeth. Ended up here on a random weekday night to grab drinks and food before a game. And we were extremely disappointed.. like laughable disappointment. The bar and restrooms are clean. Small parking lot in behind the building and there's a pool table in the back corner of the bar. It's a nice local bar but you also feel that "see a new face, give a stink face" service that I'm noticing Seattle local bars/restaurants do a lot. The food is mediocre to disgusting. It is made by the bartender (which we wish we knew beforehand). Just from that knowledge, you already picture a certain quality of food. It was actually worst than we thought it'd be. We ordered drinks, Mac n cheese, hot dog & chips, and their special homemade recipe of Swedish meatballs. We were excited to taste all of it and were super hungry. Skip the meatballs, it tasted worst than Walmart brand meatballs. It had an obvious cardboard and processed texture and taste. They tried to mask it with mash potatoes but the quality of the mash potatoes couldn't be hidden. The only thing that saves the meal throughout was the garlic bread. If you're lit, the food won't matter but you'll definitely feel it on the toilet later. The hot dog and chips came 10mins after the rest of the food came and that was kinda lame. It was the fasted thing to make but still had to wait for awhile for a simple dish. Plus it was just potato chips, not fries so what's taking so long.

If I could give this bar a 0 if I could. My friends and I (we are Asian) walked to this bar and sat outside. I accidentally dropped my empty glass on the table and the ice spilled over. Tara, the bartender, came over to clean up and I asked for another drink and she came and gave me water and my tab. I am appalled at the passive aggressiveness as I was completely sober. Never go to this bar, she was extremely rude.
