This is a great gym if you're looking for a place that isn't too crowded and offers great amenities. The gym offers everything from weights to basketball and a sauna. The locker rooms are clean, well-maintained, and spacious- the great locker room is one of the things that I loved about this gym when I went there regularly. The ladies' room has hair dryers and styling tools, which makes it super-convenient for a mid-day workout. There's also a place to relax in the locker room with a TV, magazines, and comfortable seating. I found it nice to unwind during my lunch break and sometimes spent more time reading/relaxing in the sauna and locker room than I did working out. I've never had a problem finding the equipment I wanted to use and have never had to wait long for any equipment. Overall, it has the feel of an upscale gym. The only downside is that if you need late/irregular hours, this probably isn't the best place. Since it's affiliated with the University, it will close or open late sometimes when weather conditions are bad or predicted to be bad.

I've never been a member of a gym that was closed as much as this one. They look for more reasons to close than they do to stay open. Beware.... If you see a flake of snow or it's within 2 days of a holiday, the gym will be closed. If it wasn't so close to my house and work, I'd definitely cancel my membership.

This gym is top-notch in every aspect! The facilities are modern and clean. The instructors are so nice and encouraging and make everyone of all shapes and sizes feel welcome in their classes. My favorite part about the gym is that they are always trying to make it better! They updated their locker rooms and even added a rock climbing wall recently. The clientele is mixed. While there are lots of students there aes also lots of staff, faculty and locals of all ages. No kids allowed as far as I know, such is either a plus or minus depending on your situation.Pick-up basketball on Mon/Wed and Volleyball Tues/Thurs. Everyone is Elvis! Great spin classes 5:30-6:15 Mon/Wed. Boot camp is occasionally offered at an additional but minimal cost.Pro tip of the day: State employees get a discount. I think it's $39/month. For OUSHC students and faculty I think it's even less.

So, I had been using this gym because I was a OUHSC student and it was included in my student fees, so why not? However, I've really come to love it. It has LOTS of equipment and props (like kettlebells, "body pump" bars, jump ropes, resistance bands, free weights, mats, platforms, weighted medicine balls, etc) and a lot of open space. I don't like gyms where everything is so packed together that you don't have room to do anything besides a cardio machine. The Health Club has all that I want for my workouts and plenty of room to do them. It can get full at busy times (like after work), but even then, I'm able to find something I want to do.There is also a basketball court, racketball courts, a pool, big clean locker rooms, and friendly staff. They offer some group fitness classes, but I haven't ever been able to attend due to my schedule. The only thing that would make this gym better for me would be more fitness classes throughout the day. I recently graduated, but I decided to keep my membership going. It's $50 a month, but compared to the other options for gyms near me, University Health Club is definitely worth it!

Though the Norman campus version is larger, this health club is more welcoming and personally offers more for me. I never used the locker room in Norman - whereas HSC has a huge women's locker room with free lockers, showers, separate bathrooms and sauna. There's even a waiting area with a tv in there. The basketball court is typically pretty free, the facility always announces when they'll be in use. I like that cardio and weight training are all on one open floor. There is one room for excersizing on your own (complete with jump ropes, weights, mats), otherwise everything flows into each other well. This is probably just me, but I'm glad all the TVs aren't set on Bravo and E!, it allows a chance to catch up on the world by having them set on news and sports. The only reason I didn't give the Club five stars has to do with their machines. They're all working and good condition, just don't seem top of the line or purchased in the past few years. Except the cycling bikes, those are new. The pool is also great! Maybe too great cause some months I have to share a lane... But otherwise no complaints. Lastly, the staff here are super nice. The front desk people go out of their way to ask about my day or help me get a rubber band for the hundredth time.

This will be my 5th year using this gym, and it's been a great experience the whole time. The facility itself is very nice, on par with some of the "fancy" gyms I've had memberships with before. Lots of open space. The machines are in great shape. I have never heard of Hoist machines before, but I enjoy using them over the traditional machines. I usually come in the middle of the day to avoid the peak times, so I never have to wait to use anything. There's pretty much all the standard stuff you'd expect: cardio machines, weight machines, general weights, basketball court, pool, racquet ball, and a room for classes. They've also recently opened a rock climbing wall. The only thing I can think of that's missing would be an indoor track of some sort. It's not the end of the world, but I'd rather use that than a treadmill. Treadmills are boring, but they do at least have TVs in front of them, and otherwise I find all my exercise needs are met well here. One thing I would like to point out: Best. Locker Room. Ever! There are plenty of lockers that are free to use and come with a code to lock your belongings. They arrange the lockers so that you have some nooks and crannies to change without feeling exposed to everyone. The showers are nice and all areas of the locker room are usually kept clean. And ladies... there are blow dryers! Right there in the locker room for us to use! They're not top-of-the-line, but they're functional and it's one less thing to have to pack in your gym bag. I bring my own straightener though. There are also plenty of mirrors and counter space. I appreciate this because it's nice being able to shower and get ready without having to go back to class feeling sweaty and gross.Parking is convenient and there are always spots. I don't think you have to have an OUHSC permit to use the parking lot either (but don't quote me on that). It's "free" if you're a student in that there's no monthly payment, but of course we "pay" for it elsewhere in our student fees. Even if you had to pay the monthly price though, it'd be worth it!

There are few places like this in town. The staff are super nice, opens 7 days/week, pool, sauna, racketball courts, basketball court, indoor volleyball, large free weights area... The only thing you could possible add to this place would be an indoor running track. Oh, and the Facilities are well taken care off.
