Outstandingly good pupusas! We had pork and chicken entrées today -- the pork was slowly cooked in a green tomatillo-based sauce (very tangy!) while the chicken was cooked in a mild red chile-based sauce (piquant but not fiery).Warm, friendly service both at the food counter and the main register alike.Parking lot was full -- always a good sign! The produce department and panadería (bakery) were well situated on the grocery half of the store itself, as was the meat department. Two of us ate like kings for all of seventeen bucks plus change.

This little spot is very humble and very off the beaten path, for most. I suggest exploring a bit out of your comfort zone if you love homestyle Latin American cooking. Give this little spot a try--they have absolutely delicious food. The location is part convenient store, part Latin American bakery, and Latin American restaurant. It looks a bit sketchy when you pull up--don't let that deter you. When you walk in the restaurant is to your left, the bakery right in front of you, and the convenient store to the right. The restaurant is setup sorta cafeteria style. They have a couple of chicken options: chicken in mole (super yum) or chicken in pepian which is like a boiled chicken in a yellowish sauce (amazing). Their platters come with rice & beans. They have carne asada (marinated beef), many soup options, Chiles rellenos, and a vegetarian mains option. I have always gotten a chicken platter variation here and loved it!They have delicious Pupusas which are tortilla pocket filled with beans and deliciousness. I highly recommend them! If you order their chicken platter then don't forget to also order their house made tortillas. They are cooked with love and it makes all the difference. The ladies behind the counter remind me of a Latin American family: grandma and all her ladies alongside her cooking up scrumptious Latin American fare just for you. Part of me feels like grandma and her ladies have been laboring in the kitchen cooking for all their Latin American boys who come in looking for a home cooked meal. Some may find it off putting, but there is a genuine endearment that I find very touching about this little spot. They have TVs to catch the soccer game. The ladies can communicate in English and they accept cards. Happy dining!

Be prepared for a language barrier! This is of course not the reason for the missing star, as the restaurant is intended for Spanish speakers, but it should be noted. A strong effort was made to accommodate my broken Spanish, so props to the staff for that! The soda machine was broken, however, and the "tell me what you had" system for ordering/paying left lots of room for error, which occurred on my ticket. The lack of a menu also made a first-timer's experience more difficult than I felt was necessary. But I'd be lying if I said that wasn't the most incredible empanada I've ever had, from start to finish. Everything I managed to order was exceptional, but it had me wishing I knew more of what was available so I could sample all that delicious food!

Went here in hopes to buy their spicy salsa. Employees were helpful, nice, and some spoke English. However the salsa wasn't my favorite. Super watery and just a tiny bit of heat. I'll not get salsa here again but I'm sure their food is great!

The four stars go to the food, and only the food (well, also to the people who work here as they are super friendly). This is your typical Latin American convenience store where you can buy some basic staples, send money to other countries, buy bread fresh-off-the-oven from the bakery, and get a pretty good lunch for a few bucks. All about the same place. Pupusas and other dishes are made from scratch and you can tell by the flavors. The are on spot! They take cash and plastic. They have aguas, horchatas, and other juices, besides Mexican coke and other drinks you would find at a 7 eleven. I personally recommend the ceviche. It is not your traditional Peruvian ceviche. To me this would be called a seafood or shrimp cocktail.... but they can name it what ever they want given it is veeery good. If you fee like getting out of your comfort zone, give them a try. It will be worth it!

Just good you know. The food is actually good, and the quality is excellent. 11/10. Someone should give this place an award if I'm being honest. I don't care what you say to this comment, it's my opinion.

This restaurant is inside a small Guatemalan grocery store and bakery. Same owner as the Guatemalan restaurant that used to be in the Plaza district. It was hard to know what to order because the menu was in Spanish and the nice ladies behind the counter didn't speak English. I let another customer, a bilingual stranger, order for me. I had a flat beef steak, well seasoned, served with rice, beans and some weirdly wonderful pasta salad. My husband and son did not listen to the stranger and got some kind of pork and bone (so many small bones) stew they could see on the stove. Don't order that. No bueno. Best advice is to take someone with you who is familiar with Guatemalan comfort food and can read a Spanish menu. They were so nice, I wish I could give them more stars...
