I've looked through the reviews, #1 it's a riding stable not a riding class! If you want training go to a class first. (It'll cost a lot more) As for people telling you what you doing wrong... well yeah, dumbass your riding their horses! Did you want someone to talk all the way through your trail ride? If you wanted company shoulda brought a friend. And I'm not sure why I even need to say this.... if your not comfortable riding... why would you bring a small child when you don't know what your doing???? Smh! The prices are amazing! The people are down to earth ranch people! The scenery is gorgeous! And the horses... love them!

This was my first time being on a horse that was not something at a fair. We pulled up a little early and watched as the employees placed saddles on the horses and brush them. When we got out of the car we stood around for maybe 5-10 min chit chatting with the older gentleman. It was nice getting to know him on more of a personal level. The other group arrived that was going to be riding with us. We did not know them personally. We all went into the shed/stable where they picked who was going to ride what horse and we signed waivers. We then went outside and got on our horses. So be prepared you will not have a quick 10-20 min, "this is what you do" training. It more or less when you are placed on the horse. Every animal is different and they have their own personality. My tip is to try and relax as best as you can and listen to what they tell you when you are on the horse. About 20-25 min into our trail ride I was able to handle my horse a lot better. When you go up a hill lean forward, when you go down a hill or the horse is trying to get some grass to eat, lean back. My son, who is 7, it was a sensory overload for him. During the ride the older gentleman pulled his horse with him on it beside him. That was the best thing that happened. I was able to relax a little more when I knew my children were ok. The two of them together was such a great match up. They chatted to each other the whole time. I have read multiple reviews and those who said people were mean and so one. Yes, it can be perceived like that. But, keep your eyes open. This is kinda like a mom and pop type of business and they take this seriously. This is not a time to good off. My family and I will be back. We enjoyed the employees company and the work they do. It was $25 per person. I feel that is very reasonable.

What a fantastic day! You can ride trails with great, gentle horses. No previous riding experience required. Donny, Sarah and her entire family are some of the nicest people you will meet in OKlahoma. The trails are fun and the trek beside the Lake was beautiful. A fun affordable family experience for sure!

This ride was alright. It was $25 per person for a one hour trail walk. I stress walk because you are not allowed to even trot or anything at all. This would not have been so terrible had it not been for our "wrangler." I forget his name, but he's an older heavy set man and he's just rude. He's not friendly at all and only talks to you to tell you what you're doing wrong and not in a nice way. He's an ass and he kind of ruined it.

Rode there a few months ago and had my child riding with me and I prayed the whole ride. The guides were awful. We had two guides and they stayed in the back. No one was in the front. All 10 horse riders were scattered, some people scared and they didn't care! They never even bothered teaching us the basics when we got on the horse. They didn't even notice someone was missing. They just didn't give a flying F word. Over heard one guid on the phone while riding say she's been drinking! And I almost fell off the saddle with my child because the saddle wasn't on properly, the horse was also taking its own trail. I will never go back there again. My wrist was swollen from holding on dear life to my child and onto the reigns. I was left by myself in the back the whole time once the guides took off to the front. It was more stressful than fun. Only giving two stars instead of one because they were at least nice. Wish Thunderbird stables were still open. They were so much better.

Just wanted to put up my review of this place, which is the complete opposite of the other two reviewers before me. I have ridden here probably half a dozen times now, and this is one of my favorite things to do when I visit Oklahoma. The area you have for riding is huge. There are trails all over. It's a really beautiful place. You could ride all day and see different wildlife, and take different paths through the woods or stay on the road going around the lake. When you arrive, you'll most likely deal with Donnie. Well... What can I say about Donnie? He's one of those people you just have to experience for yourself. Don't take that the wrong way, like its a bad thing. He's just a character and he is who is is. He just says whatever's on his mind. He's pretty "country" too. So for a city person like me, from Las Vegas, sometimes he can be pretty hilarious. He's definitely good with the horses. He'll tell you what to do on the horse and how to ride if you don't know what you're doing. You can tell he's really into those horses. I like people that are down to earth, just tell it how it is, so I think he's great, but that's me. The horses are cool. Donnie asks us how much riding experience we have and selects the horse that's best. They're all nice horses. I mean horses are horses. They are trail horses. They've been on these trails hundreds of times and just plod along. I did a night ride and it went late and I was tired. I think I had a little cat nap on my horse. But when I woke up, he was still plodding along, on auto pilot. Now when they get close to the barn, on the way back, they tend to pick up the pace a bit, but that's just a horse being a horse. Overall, they seem very well behaved and used to a lot of beginners riding on their backs. The rate to ride is more than reasonable. I like to do the full moon night rides and those run about $30 bucks for a good 2 or 3 hour ride. I usually tip the wrangler if we had a good time and we always do. I recommend this place to a lot of people and I give it 5 stars on yelp. If you are expecting some super bougee stables with top knotch ass kissing customer service, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you like beautiful nature and want to see the lake by horse. This place is it. Don't forget to bring some carrots in your pockets and some bug spray!

The experience was "okay". Could've been better. They could treat the horses better and the wranglers could be nicer to us. It really is "ride at your own risk" kind of thing. The view was the only thing I loved about it all! Absolutely beautiful.

It was the worst horse trail ride I've ever been on. The ole man was rude, give no instructions, stated that he doesn't believe in HELMETS when I asked for one for my child. They sent us on our way with a guide tour in the VERY back that was 16 yrs old! The trail was SO unsafe ( tight roping, with steep down trails ect! My daughter was getting left behind as her horse was extremely slow. Half the time we didn't know where we were going. My horse was VERY stubborn. So glad I didn't take our grandma that used to ride because this was so unsafe. The trough looked extremely dirty it was like a dark green color. We were crossing roads that cars had to yield to us. I DO NOT RECOMMEND the Riding Stables for everyone!

I've been here numerous times with my wife and daughter, and we've always had a great time! Donny is a straight to the point, no BS type of guy. I guess for some people that comes off as "rude," but I prefer it and he's always great with my kids. A fun place for any skill level. (My daughter's first ride was here.)

I took my daughter there for her first horse ridding experience. I rode there growing up and it was the closest one to our home. We arrived 30 min early like asked and they were just saddling the horses. They asked our experience level to pair us with a horse. Needless to say I was a little nervous putting an 11 year old on a horse for the first time. Let me say they did an awesome job! The horse was perfect. Allie and Cowboy were super. Cowboy kept watch over us and corrected us when we did things like holding the reins wrong. It was an awesome experience and when we left my daughter asked if we could go back every weekend. An hour ride was just perfect. We will most defiantly be back and look forward to seeing them again.
