The Metropole Saloon and Restaurant

A surprise find here in Shamrock, TX. Great service by (I think it was Cindy or Sydney... sorry ), the armies comfortable, and the food was very delicious. The greens (asparagus and Brussel sprouts) could have been a bit more done but all in all very tasty food. As you see in the photos we had the strip steak with the greens and the filet with a potato and salad. Recommend for sure.

Cool place! Good food and drinks! Fast and courteous service! Live music on a Friday night! Will definitely go back!!

Fish and chips are good, the steaks are likely epic, you can't stay in business in West Texas with marginal steak.Kindra the bartender took great care of me, really excellent service.Shamrock doesn't have anything else like this place, worth the visit.

Stopped here for a meal with our larger party while passing through on a road trip. We were not disappointed! The smoked old fashioned was a fantastic starter, and I'm still thinking about the perfectly prepared filet. Other family members had the ribs, which they were overly complimentary of, and my wife loved the chicken fried steak. The whole family was raving about the ranch dressing. They insist that its homemade. Whether it is or not is irrelevant as they loved it! Spectacular service and small-town steakhouse charm that is second to none. We felt that the price was a true bargain, and we will make this a permanent way point every time we are traveling across I-40!Thanks to the staff!

There is a reason this place has 4.8 stars, it's because the food is amazing, wait staff are friendly and helpful and the ambiance is out of this world cool. We both had the chicken fried steak (delicious) my sides were the baked potato salad (seriously amazing) and okra (fried good). The wife's sides were onion rings (good) and a house salad(also good). The chicken fried steak was so tender you could cut it with a fork and the serving was a plate full. Maddison our waitress had several other tables to wait and she did a wonderful job, she smiled, which is always a plus and took our drink orders promptly when we sat down. The smoked old fashioned was the hit, my wife had the Moscow mule and she liked it but really liked my drink( we should have ordered 2. We loved the decor of taxidermy and classy seating at the tables( chairs were just so comfortable). They have a long bar that goes down one side that serves whatever you have a hankering for. Good job Shamrock you have a first class restaurant.

I appreciate the feedback received from a Metropole employee after my review of "overcooked salmon". Again, we enjoyed the atmosphere, appetizers, bread, and beer/wine selections. Since it's imperative to cook meat to certain temperatures for health and safety purposes, might I suggest cooking to temperature as opposed to appearance? Unfortunately, my salmon was well done and dry despite the promise that it would be cooked "med-rare". When my husband later ordered a "medium-rare" hamburger, his meat was also dry and lacked flavor as a result of being overcooked. In addition to satisfying safety codes, you could provide delicious foods cooked to order if the meat is cooked based on temperature standards for rare/med/well, etc. As you stated, the food selections are high quality, some of us simply prefer meat to be less than well done. With that said, we will definitely recommend and continue to frequent the Metropole. We've only sampled a few entree items so far, but I can definitely say that all of the appetizers have been amazing; the restaurant is unique and comfortable, and the wait staff is extremely friendly.

Love love love this restaurant, all the servers, hostess's and bartenders were all amazing! The decor is country chic, the bar is beautifully crafted and handmade! The atmosphere was jovial and laid back! Now to the food and drinks, sweet tea, sour apple martini, fresh bread, ribs (falloff the bone) and Clifton's amazing baked potato salad (always order the loaded potato salad!) it truly was all amazing!! The "Waker" is tender, juicy and cooked to perfection!! The cocktails were beautifully presented and garnished! We completely enjoyed our experience!!
