The Lookout Kitchen-Lake Murray

Understand the reviews. This restaurant is in Southern Oklahoma, on a State Lake attached to a State Lodge. Staffing can be seasonal, and you never know if it will be slammed or dead. In a sea of Tex-Mex, fried catfish, and fried everything else, this is a refreshing addition to the area. We decided to sit outside on the patio, which is just off the water with the beautiful lodge behind us. Even though it was 100 degrees all day, they had fans going, and it felt comfortable. We started with a Caesar salad, which was hands down the best Caesar in the area. Fresh ingredients, a nice amount of parmesan cheese, croutons, and dressing. We had iced tea and lemonade for drinks. We went with the Large Pepperoni Pizza. It was perfection and super tasty. We finished off the evening with turtle cheesecake that was small but really yummy. Our waitress was helpful and efficient, and some of the other team members pitched in to help as well.The Lookout is now added to one of our spots to hit on the regular.

This was my 3rd time here. I am a local but live on the road. This place has excellent service all three times. I have had 3 different items from the menu and all were good to excellent. The old fashion could use some improvement ( my server made adjustments every time I ordered another) (to much simple syrup)Can't forget the best lake view

Great Food, awesome view and good service! We ate here 3 times on our weekend stay at Lake Murray Lodge. We had very friendly service from everyone! One of the nights we called in close to closing time to order some pizzas and they happily made them for us! The HOT Honey pizza I highly recommend! We also had the Fried Catfish basket and it was awesome! You can sit right on the lake for a beautiful view!

Food was good. Service was not. The people working are doing the best they can, it's just not staffed adequately. High prices for what you get, but I expect that at a tourist spot. This is poor management.

We ventured over to this restaurant at the Lake Murray State Park Lodge after setting up our RV in the park. We were tired and hungry and in need of a drink. Our waiter, Terry, was friendly, fast and very gracious. I had the small fried fish platter, which was terrific! The salad was fresh, the fish was excellent and the fried okra were crisp and tasty. My husband's spaghetti with meatballs pleased him, though I thought there was too much tomato paste in the sauce. The meatballs were good though, and the drinks hit the spot. The view of the lake is fabulous, from anywhere in the restaurant. It's so much better than the parks that have Aramark (like Big Bend National Park) as the concessionaire! We definitely recommend this restaurant.

we came here 2x's in one day. once for breakfast and once for dinner! the biscuits and gravy were sooo good. i liked that the sausage patties were actually on top of the biscuits, drenched in the gravy--it was different, i'd not had it like that before! my bf got the pancakes and he said it was the best pancakes he'd ever had in his life! we went back for dinner and i got the hot honey pizza. IT WAS THE BEST HOT HONEY PIZZA! better than Marco's, hands down. i also got astrawberry drink, but i can't remember the name. it was 9% alcohol per the can and very tasty! my bf had the burger with fries and he said it was really good! the ambience of the state lodge are what make this location! we went to Lookout Kitchen at Robber's Cave, but didn't enjoy the food/service as much as we did this location. we were served by both Erica and Brittany and will definitely ask for them again in the future.

Ambiance food and service were excellent. Must eat here as a local or tourist. Very relaxing.

Visited around 7PM on a Saturday. Restaurant was about 1/2 full with young lady providing live music and a gentleman going around tables doing magic tricks. Was informed soda machine not working, so all sodas would be what they have in cans. Ordered fruit as side for chicken tenders and told they were out of fruit. Every 1/2 hour waitress came by apologizing for kitchen delay. After 1 hr she said Manager wanted to stop by about delay. 1 hr later waitress placed a $0 bill on the table and said food would be out soon, but meals were now on-the-house. Food arrived at 9:05 PM and was difficult to eat and poorly prepared. Kitchen obviously forgot to prepare our meals, but saddest part was Manager never stopped by our table to apologize or discussed. They made waitress do everything and she was very stressed.They need to put up a sign telling where the "Hostess Station" is located. Sign at door says to go to the station to be seated, but everyone stood at the door wondering what to do. If you visit, station is where the register sits with their back to the door.Menu did not scream welcome to the lake. It was very generic like any other restaurant. Would also be great if they had some deserts or sweets.

Waiters are super friendly and helpful. The view is amazing, Definitely worthwhile. the food was good. I can tell that the new owners are putting a lot of though on the small things starting with the mason jar cups, the modern black plates, and the heavy duty but modern utensils. While this place just opened up you can tell the staff is still learning and unfortunately makes small mistakes. Take that into consideration when you are visiting a local restaurant. I enjoyed my food and the view. Will be back for breakfast in the morning!

The fried okra was 'okay'. Everything else was well below average. The fish wasn't tasteful and actually a kind of a gross gelatinous mess. The appetizer, chips and dips, was below average. Pretty much nothing was anything special. Service was slow for an almost empty time of day. Us and one other couple. Was never asked if everything was okay. I would think me asking for my check with most of my food uneaten and telling him I didn't want a to go would have sent up a red flag. Also after we had ordered we were informed if we would leave a 5 star review before we o got our food they would give us a free appetizer, which I didn't take up the offer. Now I'm glad I didn't. Ambiance is what you would expect for a new restaurant at a state park. Views of Lake Murray were the draw for stopping in. Unfortunately they aren't enough to make up lack of service and food quality.
