As part of my pre-spring cleaning, I want to re-do my home office flooring in wood. I hit a few places, and ended up at Floor Trader, which is located near all the furniture stores off Reno.I was greeted by a salesman named Shane. And this is the weird (but good) part. After telling him what I was looking for, did he take me to the priciest bin in the place? No. He first took me on a tour of the closeouts and marked-down flooring. This was stuff left over from larger jobs and varied in quality from meh to really nice. I didn't really see anything I liked there, so then went looking at the regular stock.I was impressed that I was shown the more affordable stuff first instead of being shoved into the Thurston Howell III aisle (old dude subreference...). They are very helpful and have a large selection of carpet, tile and wood flooring. I didn't buy yet; still making up my mind what I want - but I will definitely return here when I do.

Just like the other review, I had somewhat the same experience. Went in shopping around for wood-look tile as a more durable alternative since we have a 50lb dog that will only play fetch indoors. Walked in and was immediately greeted by an employee, Woody (heck of a name for a wood floor salesman). He took me right to the area I was looking for, gave me some options, suggested I head around the corner to their supplier and pick up the free samples from them since they don't keep those onsite. The prices here overall seem reasonable. The tiles we are debating between range from 2.50-3.25 sq/ft. Not a bad price compared to the big box stores. I will update the review later as we continue on this path of home renovation.

With the exception of one nice man at the front desk, this place has Terrible Customer Service! They ordered the wrong colored tile. We had to go to the manufacturer's factory to exchange for the right tile. Then they WAY over ordered in one color and shorted us in another. The result - we had to buy more tile to finish the job and they wouldn't let us return any of the four unopened boxes we already had. I will NEVER go back and don't recommend anyone else do either.

Went into floor trader earlier thus month and met with Woody, a sales associate, about purchasing carpet for one bedroom and closet in a house we're purchasing. The carpet we ordered wasn't in stock so they had to order it. Prior to ordering, they sent out an installer to measure. When they gave me the price I was told it was much higher because the carpet has a design in it which requires them to line it up taking much more carpet. When they arrived to install the carpet today we found out the reason it cost so much was because they decided to order carpet for three bedrooms and closets. When I tried to get this resolved, the sales associate and manager both got very aggressive yelling at me on the phone saying there's nothing they can do about it. Do not use this facility. Thwy have shady business practices and ultimately blame it on the installer and you.

The customer service is abysmal at this location. I was trying to coordinate with the seller of my house to get some vinyl flooring installed in the bedrooms and they were absolutely no help; made little or no effort to help me search, did not return my calls, had to go through hoops to get even the smallest piece of information. Was able to get an account transferred to Byron's in Moore and in one phone call they have been more helpful then floor traders ever was.

Don't use their installers. They don't know what a level is or how to use one. Then they think of every excuse as to why it's not their fault that they floor THEY installed is not level.

Choosing a carpet style and color based on a small sample piece is very difficult. I liked The Floor Trader because they had a lot of options in stock where I could see the carpet as a whole and feel it. Our salesman was Woody who pointed me in the right direction and helped me to select the best option for my house. When I found the same carpet online cheaper, he gave me a better deal on the carpet and pad. When I wanted it installed before Thanksgiving (with one week's notice), he had someone out right away to measure the areas to be carpeted. The next day Woody had the estimate ready for me and took my payment over the phone so I could be sure to have it installed in time. When installation day came, the installer was still busy on another job. However, Woody called in an installer who lives an hour an a half away, Jerod Roberson, who did an amazing job. Jerod had to work alone because of the last minute notice, but he never complained. Our carpet has a z-something edge (?) that gave him a lot of trouble, but he worked and worked on that thing until it was perfect (it was around 9pm by then and he was exhausted). If you are going to get carpet from The Floor Trader and you want to make sure it is installed perfectly, ask for Jerod. No kidding, you'll be very happy with your carpet. He even left us his trademark gift, a scrap piece of carpet cut in the shape of a heart. We have ours at the front door in the entryway and it looks beautiful!

My recent experience with floor traders began on a very positive note. We first dealt with Shane who was knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. However, we never found him present on 4 more trips , so dealt with another employee. After ordering and paying cash for 1500 sq ft. of new flooring , the help and customer care stopped with there. They never called to inform me that my tile was in, and worse that the wood flooring was not coming when expected. I had to find that out for myself. Then when the wood flooring was still not in 2 weeks later I was never informed that it would be a month before I MIGHT get it. My floor layer found this out when he went to pick it up when it was supposed to be available. THEY never called , not one time. Even after he was there, still no call. Another trip for me to the store to confront their lack of ethics. I was forced to pick another flooring that was the same but from a different company and then I am told they had that flooring in stock all along and it was made by a different company that was much better than the first I chose. Same price , so why was I not directed to that in the first place. Because they sat at their desks and I muddled through choosing on my own. Maybe other OKC location are better staffed, but stay away from the South Portland location. Irresponsible, non responsive, and totally inept employees.
