So we have two Cubes in town... The Cube that's probably better known is the specialty convenience store (in Norman, OK) that will make you fat with delicious foods. This Cube (in Bethany, OK) will hopefully make you skinny. Since it's... a gym.Well it's a little more than a gym. It was established by Council Road Baptist Church many years ago (so if anything, this is the original Cube) and it is a cube(ish) building that offers (and I quote):"... weight training, a walking track, basketball courts, fitness classes, running club, cycling club, karate classes, self- defense classes, men's league basketball, little league basketball, little league flag football and futsol. We also house the young adult/high school/middle school ministries, the blended families/adoptive ministry, the Hispanic ministry and area Young Life." (Source: www.councilroad.org/cube)Okay, I have no idea what "futsol" is. What I do know is that I spent quite a bit of my life at the Cube when I was younger. It had a free fitness center available to anyone in the community. All you needed to do was sign up, and then you could use the facility to play basketball, run, weight train, etc. The "free" part is what drew me there; at the time, I couldn't really afford a gym membership. Apparently, the "free" part attracted many others as well, because most every day was insanity, particularly on the basketball court. I would usually end up using the walking/jogging track around the court, or I would use the small selection of weight training equipment available. In recent years, perhaps to stem the tide of random unknowns streaming in to use the facility (and occasionally trash the place), they've established a few rules, which I welcome:1. You have to sign up; that is, provide your name, a picture ID, etc.2. There is a one-time $5 activation fee. Just once, and then you have lifetime membership.3. While it's generally open to the public during the established hours, the hours are subject to change if they have church-related events and such happening. I'm not a broke college student anymore, so now things like convenience matter more than a "free" gym. The only reason the Cube isn't "As good as it gets!" is because of the limited fitness equipment, and how busy it can get (depending on the time of day). But if you are wanting to get healthy and financial constraints are preventing you from doing so, then the Cube may be a great option for you. The people are also friendly, and the fact that they offer this facility as an outreach ministry to the community is pretty brilliant.P. S. Ohhhhhhhhh "futsol." As in "futsal." As in indoor soccer! Today I Learned...

The Cube is a wonderful place for people of any age to have a good time. The receptionist was very welcoming and it is certainly a reasonable price.
