Was so excited to use them at Christmas again this year because last year went well... It was horrible!! They didn't cover the food correctly so when they stacked the food on top of each other, it just spilled out so when we got it to our home and lifted it up out of the sack, the food was all in the bottom of the sack lost half of the food and to top it off, it was cold. We were not pleased at all. I called them and they gave us a credit of $40 on a over $200 bill so we will not be doing this again. I know it is their busiest time of the year but that should be planned out and I called a week or more in advance to let them know. It sure didn't make for a good Christmas dinner for sure.

We checked the place out because it is very popular with locals. The night we went, it was crowded and we had to wait, but not too long. Once sat, we were immediately brought a warm basket of chips with several sauces including the fairly spicy atomic salsa.The room was loud with lots of folks obviously enjoying their meals. My friend ordered the tamale plate which he said was pretty good but my order of beef tacos atomic style proved disappointing. First of all, the beef was overcooked. Secondly, the rice and beans were very bland. I've been eating Mexican food for more than 60 years and have had my share of superb food as well as my share of tourist slop. Let's just say the food here is gringified, not great but not awful.

I must say I was a little disappointed with this place, mostly because everyone hyped it up so much. I ordered the tostada plate and it was very blah. The rice and beans were lacking flavor. The chips were decent. The salsa was bland and the cheese was just meh. The beer was good but they only filled it up like 3/4 up (see pics). Was a little disappointed with just that part but then the food came and well...see above. Probably would not come back or recommend this place.

Placed a to-go order. Thought later to add a kids chicken quesadilla. Called it in. $18! No sides, no set up. That's a crazy price for a kids quesadilla add on. I won't be back.

Ordered tortillas and two sides of rice and beans. I showed up approximately 15min after ordering. Told the order wasn't ready yet, weird for food premade and usually in warmers but understandable. As the time wained on I walked through the restaurant. There were 5 total tables, four employees on their phones and still no order. I ended up having to wait for over 45 minutes for such an easy order. This is the second time in a row that the wait has been ridiculous. (The first being having to wait almost 30 minutes for 12 tortillas). The food is great, but the service for online orders is terrible.

About a month ago we had carry out from Ted's and basically, the food was tasteless. So yesterday we thought we'd have carry out again and it was a toss-up between Chelino's and Ted's and the wife won...we went to Ted's.We ordered the frajitas-mixed (chicken and beef) and surprise, surprise! Tasteless again, the food was warm and not hot-and the beef was huge chunks. I ordered brefried beans and when we arrived home I found rice instead and then the wife became ill with stomach distress later int he day. We're done with Ted's Escondido. They could have done far, far better with a little effort.

Why would you go anywhere else? Great TexMex meals at reasonable prices. And some of the best folks working there. Go and eat... NOW!
