Sketchy location. I made my husband get out to order while we waited in the car, engine running. This is a homeless hangout, kinda sad but also scary. One guy was threatening patrons with violence. It's in the parking lot of a dirty gas station. Truck looks a bit run down and dirty. If they don't take care of the outside, I very much worry about the inside. But even worse was the service. We had to wait over 20 minutes for 3 measly tacos. After his wife up and left after taking our order, the guy cooking refused to acknowledge us. We could see our bag of tacos just sitting on the counter for a good 10 minutes. Eventually we received our food, at the same time as another customer who arrived 10 minutes after us. My hubby asked why we were overcharged and why it took so long, but guy refused to communicate. I'm guessing it was in some part due to a language barrier. So we just grabbed our food and got the heck out of there. As for the food, umm.. after that I hardly feel like talking food..They also screwed up our order. Tacos underfilled and small, but only $1. Asada was tough. Barbacoa also tough but pretty damn tasty. Tripas ($1.50) were cooked just right. So, if you are willing to put your life on the line to get ya some tacos. Go already. But if you have more sense, head elsewhere.

I stopped by here several years ago, but that was before I could truly appreciate a good street taco. So when I found myself nearby this morning and wanting a quick bite, I stopped for a couple tacos. I ordered a barbacoa and a lengua. Both were fairly decent. The lengua avoided the taste and texture you often get with beef tongue, and was very tender. The barbacoa had just a touch of heat. They're not quite the equal of Taqueria Sanchez or the El Dolar on SW 44th, but they've got nothing to be ashamed of. I would certainly consider stopping here again.

Yes, I hear you, it's no coincidence that the two reviews for this joint are both last named "G". Not to make this story time, but once upon a when, there was a taco truck run by the two nicest ladies ever, called "Tacos Mexico" (spelled out in random day-glo stick on letters) and it was heaven. I must have eaten there 2-3 times a week. One day, I go to get my carnitas fix, and lo and behold, they are gone. In my despondent wanderings, I tried El Dolar, and they almost made up for the loss of my friends. Been a fan ever since. When my sister was staying with me I introduced her to this spot, and so the tale of two similar reviews is explained. Now, on to the review. Taqueria El Dolar is the truth. There is so much I like about this truck. 1. Does what it says on the label. You hand them one american dollar, you get one taco. It's not Taqueria El Dolar plus tax.2. The carnitas are legit. Plus they give you enough to make two tacos out of one. 3. The hot sauce is also goooooood. 4. It's at a Valero, so you can jump inside and get a tall boy and some Funyuns while you wait. 5. It's down the street from my house, which is just a bonus. No, it's probably not gonna take one the Big Trucks out there, but I think it's awesome, just the way it is.

This place is magic. Everything is super-affordable, I have never had a bad customer service experience, and these street tacos are the things of dreams. Here's what to do: go grab some cash and a slightly adventurous friend (or someone who you wish was more adventurous!) and head down to one of the locations in OKC. You can most often find a truck at this location and also at NW 10th & Pennsylvania.Remember: it's cash only. And for said cash you can get SO MANY TACOS! All of the varieties are delicious, but if you want to hit that culinary sweet spot, grab a dozen or so carnitas (pork) tacos, a couple of glass bottle Cokes or Fantas and plenty of napkins. Find a sunny spot in a park and prepare to have your mind blown. Everything here is on mark - the freshness, the flavor and the price! Prepare to dream about these tacos until you can repeat the experience and talk in hushed tones because your friends are convinced that you've been rendered unable to talk about anything else. When you get tired of the tacos, which I really can't imagine you could, try the burrito, the quesadilla or the excellent torta. Keep cash in your wallet, you never know when the urge for tacos will strike. And luckily, they are open every day and late! And just in case you wondered, yes, save them in a airtight container and they are possibly even better the next day. Lunch game? ON.

Awesome carne asada taco for $1. Next time we'll check if they have any kind of sauce or salsas to go on the tacos. Definitely be back.

LEGIT authentic food, and reasonably priced! I got the 3 pastor tacos with rice and beans. Tacos? Off the hook. Salsa? An avocado-y green and a roasty-tasting red, both dee-lish. The plate came with some tasty carrot slices on top, and I don't know what yumminess they threw on them, but, holy smokes, they were a *treat*. There was also a roasted jalapeño half garnish on top of the beans that I ate (gonna pay for that in the morning...). I dipped it in the beans...because I'm a fatty and couldn't resist. Seriously stop by and pick up some great authentic food!
