This whole in the wall Mexican restaurant is absolutely amazing! Very authentic when it comes to everything! Green salsa...amazing with just the right amount of spice and consistency, torta bread...soft crispy and light, Cubana Torta....messy but otherwise perfect!

My husband and I went there to eat because he used to go there as a child the tortas were bomb!!! So was the breakfast plate we shared! Food portions are big! And I love how when they give you the chips and salsa they also give you a bowl of sopa! Love this place!

HUGE portions served up in this south side hole in the wall. (Seriously. We usually end up taking food home.)Yeah -- LOTS of bang for the buck here. The food itself is consistently tasty, too. (I do love a well prepared torta!)I'm giving this place three stars in lieu of five because, well, the men's restroom was unbelievably dirty the last time we ventured into El Chavo.Clean that shit (literally!) up, folks.Ewwwww.I utterly loathe the (commonplace in Mexico itself) disgusting practice of putting (URP!) used toilet paper into or next to the wastebasket instead of simply FLUSHING IT DOWN THE TOILET.I understand the reason, yes. (Bad plumbing abounds down in Mexico. Fact.)Still, there's no reason to risk spreading cholera here, nor typhus. If the patrons are doing this crap (pardon the pun), well, it can't be helped. But what CAN be helped is a member of the staff going into the john and cleaning it up/sanitizing it with freaking bleach and water.I'll visit El Chavo again, and will change this review to a five star Yelp rating if and when the men's bathroom no longer looks (nor smells) like a Third World cholera epidemic is on its way.

My name is Aaron Shay. I heard about Chavo's tortas from an online article about great places to eat on SW 29th street. The first day I had one of the super Tortas, the bread was fresh and toasted. The meats and vegetables on the torta were fresh and delicious. The second time I had one of the house specialty machetes. The machete is kinda like a Mexican sub sandwich or a giant taco for lack of a better description. To start it is served on about a 2 foot long freshly made and toasted corn masa machete shell. Next was the seasoned steak, cheese, chorizo, onion, solantro, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and red or green sauce. Either the machetes or the tortas are so big that they can easily serve 2 or 3 people. The other great thing is that the sauces, onions, and solantro are served on the side (in case you don't love onions and solantro. lol) Next the service is fantastic. I have met the Owner, Chavo, Chavo JR., and 2 fabulous waitresses. Chavo's is my new favorite restaurant.

Super Tortas is an amazing find for memorable tortas (sandwiches) in South OKC. Immaculately clean and welcoming to non-Spanish speakers the staff is friendly and the variety of 30 Tortas on the menu is the largest I've found in OKC. Be forewarned the sandwiches are huge and will feed two diners. The ham and cheese sandwich, the Pueblo, is great as us the carne asada or Cubano. Try them all us my advice! The salsa bar offers 4 varieties of salsa and all are quite good. The salsa verde is a favorite. Serving sandwiches and platters it's a great place to dine in or carry out. Not much curb appeal but well worth a visit for memorably great food.

Stopped by to try a torta, it's right next to my fave bakery La Oaxaquena. Got the one with turkey tails (ninel conde) and they were so tender and delicious. This is definitely not a lady like thing to eat (huge sandwich and lots of filling) and I would definitely recommend getting it cut in half, but oh so good. Could feed at least 2 people unless you've just finished a marathon or something. Check out I Ate Oklahoma's review, it is hilarious and can confirm its validity- https://www.iateoklahoma.com/post/embarkeats-super-tortas-el-chavo

One of the best Mexican places in OKC along with Taqueria Cardenas their sister restaurant. The machetes are great and so are the special grilled elotes (corn on the cob)
