Unfortunately, it was quite warm in the restaurant. They had fans, but they were blowing at an empty table, not us!

A simple effort to make things look nice is so important. Old broken eggs was a pretty ugly sight to see when we were seated.

This is the front of the restaurant. It's west of Rockwell on the north side of Northwest Expressway in Braxton Square.

We were craving sushi so that's what we got from here. It seemed to have taken awhile for it to come out. The sushi was good but not my favorite. Maybe it was what I ordered???

My biggest pet peeve ever with sushi places is unseasoned sushi rice. I think this is the #1 thing I write about whenever I go to sushi places because it's such an underrated detail. I thought maybe a different franchise of the Sumo restaurant might do things differently, but the rice remains unseasoned at this one too. The pros - like the Edmond chain - is that they're always super generous with portions. Their salad is also pretty good too, so I will say the pros are about the same across all Sumo restaurants. I didn't sit in but the ambiance does look cozy. Maybe the hibachi is what's good here, so maybe it's worth a try if you like hibachi.

I hate to say, but it's been a very long time since I've been here to enjoy the delicious food. My hubby and I ordered the lunch special; steak & chicken and shrimp & chicken. We were served first with a salad topped with delicious ginger dressing, next their house plain soup (bland). Our main course included fried or steamed rice. The steak and chicken were cut into bite-size chunks, the shrimp (without the head) whole making great for chopsticks. Both steak and chicken were tender and very tasty. My hubby shrimp was super delicious. The vegetables were cooked al dente and excellent. Service was great, not rushed.

So, we were wanting hibachi and not wanting to travel far so we decided to come check out Sumo. It was above and beyond amazing! Service was great, chef was amazing and my goodness the food was the best I've had in a very long time. Give them a shot! Don't let the age or the building discourage you from dining here. I will be back! We had filet shrimp lobster fried rice with soup and salad. All amazing! Mustard and ginger her sauces far better than yum yum! Ask for them:)

My wife and I wanted to try the hibachi food, mostly because of all the great reviews we read. However, once we got in the door, our eagerness quickly changed to disgust. The entire restaurant was dirty, stained, scummy, unhygienic and just plain unhealthy looking. We will NEVER return.

We arrived about 5 on a Tuesday. Not their busiest times, no wait. In fact no one else was there. They were still sweeping up from their Labor Day crowd. Front entrance needs a little pizazz, of course I'm used to Mushashi's. Hostess podium a little junked up. We were seated at a table. Old broken egg shells were visible in a tray under the table next to us. It got better from there.. They didn't have Tanqueray gin so we tried their house Merlot, It was fine. We ordered filet and shrimp, cooked great by Chef Nic. Best fried rice I've ever had! That's saying a lot. Go ahead and try this place but ask for Nic to get his fried rice!!!We would recommend them hiding all the styrofoam to-go boxes, get an a/c unit that cools the restaurant instead of using fans, look around, your supplies need to be UNSEEN by customers.
