As responsible consumers in the internet age, we're faced each day with the task of finding a balance between supporting our local economy through independent small businesses and American made goods vs. the cost savings offered through national chain stores and imported products. Quite a conundrum. Luckily, if it's contemporary furniture you're after and you're an Okie, you have Suburban.Suburban has been owned and operated in OKC by the Burt family for over 50 years. I take solace in knowing they'll always be there in case I have a problem with my purchase or need a tip on how to get red wine out of my wool rug. The showroom is gigantic and offers choices for a variety of tastes...I lean mid-century modern, my mom leans traditional, but we both have pieces that we love that were purchased from Suburban. The common trait that runs throughout the showroom is quality. American made pieces, Italian pieces, far out wild colorful pieces, affordable pieces...something for everyone.I've moved around a bit and several times have used Suburban's furniture delivery service with great results. They offer delivery to the entire state of OK and contiguous states.Suburban frequently holds holiday and red tag sales at up to 50% off. I appreciate having a place where I can talk face to face to salesperson I trust and leave knowing I got a square deal.As a testament to the quality of products and service that I've received at Suburban, they are my first stop anytime I need a new piece of furniture.Suburban-sold items currently in use in my home:2 mattress sets1 couch1 recliner4 bar stools2 office chairsI left each of these transactions knowing that I acquired a high quality item that was priced fairly and that I supported locally-run family business. A family that I trust. A family who shares my values. A family that I see every time I walk into the store.Suburban is my furniture store. Whatever else happens, at least I have that furniture problem solved. Peace of mind wrapped in supple, aniline dyed leather.

You really shop here at your own risk. Be prepared to spend THOUSANDS of dollars on furniture that may end up being defective, and NOTHING will be done to resolve the situation. The time it takes to receive custom ordered pieces is a lot longer than they say, and they don't appear to know what is going on with the manufacturers. That wasn't what got us, though. Like others, we received a defective piece of furniture. A 2k+ dollar couch that had a huge crease in the fabric and tear going up the side. Obvious defect. The company that made it is COUTURE INTERNATIONAL. Please learn from my experience and do not buy anything from these crooks. After over a month of waiting to hear of a resolution to this problem, we heard the manufacture (COUTURE INTERNATIONAL) was putting the blame on us! I examined this defect as many ways as I could, and I believe myself to be an honest person. If there was any doubt that this was a defect I wouldn't have even called Suburban. In the end, they wanted us to pay 230 dollars (after the $6k we already coughed up) for a slipcover!! That's right, a slipcover. They weren't going to replace or repair it. Completely ridiculous. And there is nothing my family and I could do. We saved up the money and invested in a piece of furniture, and got scammed. Anyone and everyone I know and work with will hear about this, and I hope Suburban and COUTURE INTERNATIONAL learn to quit taking advantage of customers. I had been holding off on writing a review, hoping these companies would do the right thing. But, they didn't. They have my money, and they'll ask for more but that's it.

Beautiful store with a wide selection of furniture and accessories. Locally owned, as well. Been shopping here for years now.

Love this store. Can't stop checking what they have every month. We are lucky to have this store in OKC. I love contemporary. You will be surprised that they do offer good quality contemporary furniture at very reasonable competitive price...compared to some over priced stores in Dallas and some online....Or if you know any better store or site, let me know....Good customer service.

I dropped in here for a quick walk through on my way to the airport. I spent the entire weekend looking at contemporary furniture in Dallas and was floored at the prices at suburban! The pieces were of good quality, but I didn't like many of them. I bet they have trouble moving the bad inventory in OKC, but get it out of your showroom! The price inflation will definitely make me head to Dallas and pay for my new couch to be shipped back.

Amazing contemporary furniture with no other equal in Oklahoma. Excellent customer service. I've pretty much furnished my entire house with their furniture. Their pieces last decades. I would know because my mom purchased alot of her furniture from here shooting about twenty years ago and they still hold up and look great. In this world of disposable junk, places like this continue to sell high quality furniture that can last decades with proper care. Shop here with confidence that the furniture will last forever and the staff will take great care of you.

This store has a great selection of overly priced novelty furniture. If you are looking for cool-looking furniture to sit in a room and look pretty, this is your place! Beware if you are looking for furniture that you want to actually use. I have purchased two pieces of furniture and both are of terrible quality. We bought an Eames replica, lounge chair for over $1,000 and four of the tufting buttons have popped off. We also purchased a "leather" couch a few years ago that is peeling and cracking. Not what I expected of a $3,000 couch.

Moved into new house recently and in need for new furniture. Shopped around town and went to the usual suspects (ie. mathis brothers, galleria, west elm, pottery barn). We even tried ordering online but found out that pics are not reflective of the actual piece. Plus shipping takes forever nowadays. Suburban really has the best contemporary furniture options and selection in town. Ended up getting dining chairs, bar stools, a buffet and a book shelf. Almost got the dining table there as well. If you have a chance, work with Jeff.... he's friendly, professional, patient and will get you the best price.Look out for their black friday sale coming up.

I have bought numerous pieces of furniture from this store. I have bought my king size bedroom set, a buffet, my daughters queen size bed, and glass bar height kitchen table.Then I ordered a customized sofa coming from Italy. (Around $5000) not to mention another dining room table. (Around $5000) also coming from Italy.When I placed the order for the sofa in November , i was told my sofa will be here in February. I have called probably twice a month for updates and I am always told by suburban employees a new date, it's always in a couple of weeks.Today, April 4th I asked to speak with the manager, I explained I know it is not your fault, but I'm at my wits end. This manager proceeded to laugh at me and speak over me. He stated, "it's actually right on time". In a very condescending manner. I said, then why was I told the original date of February? Manager just laughed. At this point I said I was planning on buying my son a bed there too, but not now. I've spent at least $12,000 at this store over the last couple of years. Then, he hangs up on me. Seriously, WTF???? As, he hangs up, I can hear him laughing. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING AT THIS STORE EVER AGAIN. To be treated like this , a paying customer, is beyond my comprehension. PS: It didn't give an option for 0 star, I hate to even give them a one star rating.

I love the style of this store and purchased several items over the past few years and been pleased. I had a terrible customer service experience yesterday. I purchased an XChair office chair. When I went to have the box loaded in my car, the stock man comes out pushing the floor model. I did not purchase a floor model. I went back to the customer service area and explained the issue. They discovered the inventory was wrong and a new chair would be available in a week. I needed the chair immediately and I'm not pay full price for a floor model during a pandemic. I explained that to the salesman he acted like I was being ridiculous and offer me $26 off!!! I told him what wasn't worth it. He insisted the chair was already steeply discounted. I declined the $26 discount and opted for a refund. At home, I discovered that I could purchase the chair straight from the manufacturer and Relax the Back for the same price as Suburban.! Not only was he lying about the discount but he acted put out that I fussed over getting the floor model because their inventory was wrong!!! I'm truly disappointed at this experience and likely won't shop their again.
