Spunkie's Soul Food

I've walked by this place in the mall a bunch of times, and finally decided to try it! The service was excellent, the food was fresh and hot, and I wish I had tried it sooner!

Everything was made to order! Fish was super fresh and extremely good. My only complaint is I wish the greens were season a bit more. I'll definitely miss it when I leave this place. Service was good ordering was easy. Great customer service for sure!

Sorry but this food is nasty. The greens were extremely bitter, the mac and cheese was beyond salty, and the chicken strips seemed to be fried in fish grease, so just a bad meal all-around. I personally won't spend another dime here.

When I'm looking for a great soul food meal, Spunky's is my go to! This place is amazing! The food is cook fresh to order and comes out piping hot. My favorite has to be the catfish dinner. Favorite side dish is the sweet potatoes. They are decadent. I pray they get a brick and mortar of their own soon. Give them a try and get ready to visit Penn Square Mall often just for a taste of Spunky's.

Yum yum yum! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a soul food restaurant in penn square mall.. the food is very very delicious, a nice addition to the food court. The customer service I received, top notch. Very polite even helped me decide on what I wanted to try. I loved the coat on the fish. It reminded me of my grandmothers fish. You know the old school cornmeal coat. Whatever binding agent they use is doing the job. I didn't see a crack in the coating, it suck together like glue. Even when you bite into the fish it didn't break a part.Fries are hand cut, no premade fries. Something about fresh fries makes my taste buds melt. Everything was fresh! cooked to order. They also have kool aid, I didn't get to try it. On my next visit it'll be a must try. If you're in the mood for some soul food spunkies is bringing all the spunk! Give them a try.

Came back again while in town. My son ordered the 1 piece of catfish, but said the pork chop was better. The cake was a decent price and not bad. I also ordered the catfish which was pretty good. The mac-n-cheese could use a bit of seasoning and the greens were nice. The roll has melty sweet butter on it and it was soft. I paid almost $50.00 for this lunch and remember it is not fast food. It took us 18 minutes to get our lunch just FYI.

Spunkies are masters of what they do. This soul food right here went to Harvard. Go argue with your mama. Like many of the reviews read, this isn't fast food (McSpunkie's). You will wait. Nothing crazy though. I think I waited like 15-20 mins or so. But that's because the entrees are freshly made when you order. Plus do you really want soul food that's ready in 5 minutes or less? probably not. I've been there twice and on the first visit I got the fried pork chops which were insanely delicious. Juicy and Seasoned just right. It was raining heavily that day so I just took my food to the car and devoured it in the parking lot while listening to my favorite podcast (Here's the thing). The 2nd time, I got the wings. Also very good and reminded me of how wings are made back home in MD. Mattafack.... Spunkies originated in MD, so they definitely get extra love from me. I've only gotten mommies sweet potatoes and the Mac and cheese. Both are ahhhmazing. I don't love going to Penn square mall, but this food is totally worth it. Oh and let's not forget the honey bread roll. Everything I've had here doesn't disappoint.

Tried this place on a whim and boy was I glad I did. I got the chicken tenders and double mash potatoes. Chicken was juicy and tender and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes hit the spot. The roll they give you with the honey butter on it was delicious! Will definitely be back!

I was passing through Oklahoma City on my way to florida, and had to charge my electric vehicle. I decided to go into the mall while me vehicle was charging to find some food to eat, and let me tell you God is good! He lead me to this soul food place called Spunkie's, in the mall, and yes i said in the mall! I have never seen or heard of a soul food restaurant in a mall before. The food was fire!! The Mac&Cheese was amazing, the baked chicken me just rolled off the bone. I was so impressed with this place that i've been sharing with my other co-workers who pass through OKC on a regular, and they thank me for the hook-up! So if you are ever in OKC this is a must do.
