Soldier Creek along the trail. There's some coating on the water. Could be an oil sheen from a functional pump jack not too far from here.

With it being in the 80's today I decided to check out the area trails. Need to start walking so trying to find the best places. This is a very nice set up. Pretty bland right now as it's still early in the year but many people we taking advantage of the weather. Looking forward to walking here. I'm sure once the city gets it spruced up it will be really nice. All these places are interconnected around Joe B Barnes park.

This is a great paved trail to walk or run on. It is large enough to easily pass other people if you need to get around. Its roughly one mile each way. I like to keep going and not turn around and go around by the street to hit a 3 mile loop roughly. Most of the trail is in the shade or partly shaded at least. There is a little stream/ river by the trail and it is a nice trail because of the nature around you. There are also a lot of squirrels too. They are really cute. Sometimes I see them laying on the pavement to cool themselves off. They are adorable. If you like trails, nature, and wildlife, you should check out this trail. It is very easy to find and if you have a dog, there is a dog park by the trail for small and larger dogs.

This trail is a great place to get some exercise for you and your pet. The trail has 1/4 mile markers to help you keep track of your distance. There are lots of things to look at-I just had to work to keep my pup from chasing the many squirrels and geese along the way. There is even a dog park at one end of the trail, so you can let your dog run free in there for a little while if you choose to.

I absolutely love this trail. It starts right along the little creek, and then meanders through the woods, and out onto the other side.It is concrete throughout, and clearly very well cared for. I tend to walk only part of it, and then just come back the same way, it's quite lovely. There aren't many really nice trails like this in OKC, so this one is worth going out of your way for!

This is a flat paved trail that follows the spring fed Soldier Creek. It's not the most pristine creek I've strolled along. There is trash all along the creek bed and in the creek. There were ducks, geese, and super friendly squirrels in the Barnes Park area of the trail. Between Reno Ave and 15th Street is approximately 1 mile (2 miles round trip). I continued north on the Soldier Creek Trail up to Poore Park before turning back. I would have preferred more foliage along the trail to allow you to forget that you're in the middle of town. Once you venture north of Reno Ave, it feels like you're walking through people's backyards. The trail will allow you to get some miles in without having to worry about getting run over by a car, but it falls short of a good nature experience. I'd do it again if I am short on time, but if I have more time, I'll seek out something like the trails around Stanley Draper lake.

This is a easy 2 mile loop trail for all you runners out there. It basically starts at Joe B Barnes Regional Park. You can park near the dog park. Cross the pedestrian stop light on Reno Ave and the paved trail takes you north 1 mile and loops back at NE 10th St. It basically follows Soldier Creek on both sides. When you get back to Reno, the trail stops, so you'll have to run along Reno for a bit to get back to the Dog Park parking lot. Lots of trees and no worries of vehicular traffic!
