We had heard about how good S&K was and how well they treated families, so when we needed them after a recent death of a family member, we had high expectations. They didn't disappoint. Brian was helpful and supportive, helping guide us through the many aspects of planning a funeral. I would recommend S&K to anyone needing a friendly and knowledgeable funeral home for their loved ones.

My father-in-law died recently; Smith & Kernke was recommended by his church. Though I am a professional writer, it is somehow difficult to fully describe in words how appreciative I am for the work of Smith & Kernke. They made a very difficult time in the life of me and my family go as smoothly and trouble-free as possible. I was the primary contact with them for our family. I dealt with nearly every one of their staff. To a person, they were empathetic, caring, and professional. Each of them conveyed their support in a way that was genuine, not canned or rehearsed. They helped us decide how to handle our loved one's remains, where to do the burial, and how to go about honoring him in 2 services and with an obituary. Each step they walked us through they were helpful but not intrusive. They knew and remembered several things we never would have thought of. They hired a limo for the day of the memorial service so we wouldn't have to drive. They interfaced with the burial site and made sure everything was done with respect. They delivered the flowers from the funeral to us at home the next day so we could enjoy them. They were at the hospital within 45 minutes of our first call to them -- when we knew my father in law would pass soon. I find them so impressive I will actively encourage others to use them in the future. Though I hope we don't need them again soon (would like my other relatives to stick around a long time) I will be sure that people I know in the area are informed of this highly valuable, caring, and extremely reasonable service. They are worth every penny we paid them, and in fact, they charged much less than I ever would have expected. When you need a funeral director, you may find as good but I am sure you could never find any better. I will forever be grateful to them.

These folks are wonderful! They were very personal yet professional and my mom's funeral went very smoothly. You can tell that this funeral home is very well-run and the directors followed up on all outstanding items promptly. Smith & Kernke is still family-owned and it shows. Their prices are also more than competitive compared to the other funeral homes, especially the ones that have now been taken over by large corporations. I think you will be happy with the results if you use these people.
