Shogun Steak House Of Japan

We got lost when we went inside north park mall. We did a whole circle of the mall before coming back and realizing the door is right by the mall door. As soon as we checked in the hostess said it would be about 10 to 15 minutes before we got seated. We only had to wait about 3 minutes. I went ahead and went into the bathroom before and upon entering the bathroom I noticed a super strong smell of urine. We got to our table at about 8:30pm got our waters at 8:37pm.We were told at about 9pm that there are only two chefs and they will come over here when they are done cooking at the other tables. The chef came to our table at about 9:18 pm. I had actually ordered steamed rice, but was given fried rice. The bone broth clear soup was nice and the salad was good. I ordered strip steak and said I wanted mine cooked medium. My boyfriend said he wanted his medium well. The chef cut up everyone's meat and my boyfriend got his first which is weird, since his should be cooked more than mine. I got mine a couple minutes later. Definitely not cooked medium. More like medium well or well done. The steak could have been seasoned more. It was just alright. Someone at our table had a health issue and EMT had to be called. It felt kind of weird to be eating and trying to enjoy the food show with someone suffering at the other end. Probably won't be back.

First timer @Shogun Steak House of Japan, it was an interesting experience. My grandson wanted to go here for his birthday dinner, I thought it sounded fun. First, trying to get a reservation at this restaurant, absolutely ridiculous in 2024!The big day arrives and we walk into Shogun.Immediately, I'm a bit surprised by the feeling that I've entered a different dimension, some sort of scary time warp.The host took us to a waiting area which had a 70's bar vibe, but no bartender.Once seated your wait isn't over. This dinner is a lengthy one - fyi for children. In my opinion the food is definitely mediocre.The wine selection- terrible. Although, the chefs make this place! The kids love the action & attention of the chefs while cooking. They enjoy the food as well.When dinner is finally over, our waitress brings the check.She proceeded to ask us if we could tip with cash (party of 8) because she needs the money tonight.This was a first for me and it left me feeling surprised and uncomfortable. I have zero reason to return to this Shogun location in Oklahoma City.

This place is awesome and rad AF - also features cool Japanese art like Hokusai prints throughout. Moreover, their hibachi is delicious (a cook performs the cooking in front of you and the waitress service is prompt and attentive) and the least expensive chicken meal comes with a nice salad, sautéed mushrooms, grilled vegetables, complimentary shrimp, dipping sauces with the chicken meat pieces and a tasty fried rice side. Their Shirley Temples are also excellent, as is their green matcha ice cream. Highly recommended!

So I made a reservation for my wifes bday and it wasn't a bad experience beyond the cook looking like he was just going through the motions to leave. I mean if the most you do is the flaiming volcano then im good with going elsewhere. Honestly the reception person and the waitress were more engaging and polite. If not for them I'd give the place 2 stars. Food is good don't get me wrong but for our experience it was way overpriced. Gonna give it a break for awhile till we go back.

Not impressed. We first waited up front for 10 minutes for a hostess to even appear. Then once we were finally seated it took approximately 20 minutes before anyone even came over to acknowledge we were there. Once our orders were finally gathered and placed, the waitress brought everyone but my husbands drink. So he had to sit without one until she returned another 10 minutes later. We were there to celebrate our kids birthday and he was so excited for the show but it wasn't much of a show at all. The chef was not very interactive with our group. Food was average, not very flavorful. My husband at one point had to take my 4 year old son to the bathroom. He came back absolutely disgusted telling me that the one toilet they had in the mens room was stopped up and full. The restaurant decor is really outdated and the rooms are dark. We also had an issue with them charging us for fried rice for the kids meal when the menu says it comes with it. I dunno...the entire experience left me feeling extremely underwhelmed and wishing we would have went somewhere else.

The other reviews point out it's dated and needs some deep cleaning. I have been eating here since I moved to Oklahoma back in 97. This was the original Japanese hibachi restaurant in town. They still have the best tasting food and best sauces. We have eaten at all of them and every-time I eat somewhere else I wish the food was as good as shoguns. I do wish owners would sink some money into fixing everything up they are just so oldSchool still phone reservations and not on social media don't care about yelp. Quality meal from quality Resturant and it's still our go to for hibachi in OKC same owner whole time I have went here and he is in the Resturant taking reservations, seating people, and clearing tables.

The food lacked any seasoning, while the service was passable. The presentation was attractive, and the rooms were well-maintained, but the location left much to be desired.

Behind the times, needs to accept open table reservations! Not visiting again until they do!

My family loves eating here. The food is always good and our reservation is always ready on time. I recommend the filet of sole and the NY strip.

Truly sad how ran down this place has become. Went here to celebrate a birthday. Years ago this place was so good! My husband and I both got filet and chicken and the filet had a horrible old gamey taste. The chef just cooked the food and did no show for the kids not even the famous volcano! He didn't engage with the table at all. The host talked to us more than our chef and server. All around terrible experience and waste of 200$
