My Friend and I eat at San Marcos here in Newcastle Okla. Several times per month. The food is usually very good and I consider it still very good. Reason for 3 star rating. I usually get the Broshetta. It is one of my favorites. About a week ago. We ate here again. I ordered the Brochetta as I most of the time order. It came out looked good until I started looking for the meat. I noticed it was anemic meat wise. 2 pieces of beef. 2 pieces of chicken 4 pieces of shrimp. I didn't say anything at the time. I thought maybe the person who prepared it either didn't know how many of each to put on and the person who cooked it didn't catch that it was short meat. It was very good but for thee price they charge it should have at least 4 piece of each kind of meat very minimum. I believe more since I'm a Chef. I know food costs. Veggies are not cheap but they are no where near the cost of meat. San Marcos charges a hearty price for this entree. I was greatly disappointed that I had very little meat on my Brochetta. I won't order it anymore. I'll go back to eating my super Burrito or anchor dish. I don't mind the price being a premium price. But if I'm going to pay that premium. I want to see price value equality. I'm not a vegetarian. The veggies are great tasting but for what they ask for the entree. It just isn't worth what you have to pay. I love San Marcos Mexican food. But there are other places less expensive for good quality of food.

It's a fairly standard Mexican restaurant interior. The service was very prompt and friendly. The food was OK but it seemed to me that everything needed more seasoning. It was just generally bland

Visited from Moore - for the price it should have been way better. Food was very bland and for it being lunch two people over $65 - unreal. Queso was not good at all. Disappointed!

Great service, great food. Worth the drive if you're coming from out of time. A lot of the negative reviews are from the other existing Mexican restaurants in fear of them going out of business. Reality is San Marcos is the best restaurant thus far in the Newcastle Area. I hate seeing the negative reviews simply because of small town politics.

High expectations always when it comes to Mexican in Oklahoma. Salsa ok, cheese sauce below average, hot sauce fair and green sauce no. Had fajita chicken enchilada and cheese enchilada. Both bland. Chicken very dry and seemed unseasoned. Others got Mexican potatoes which were ok and daughter got chicken enchilada plate and was decent. Not one of the better Mexican restaurants which is disappointing.

So happy to have San Marcos in Newcastle. My husband and I have gone multiple times since they opened and always enjoyed their food & fast service. They offer free chips, salsa, queso and sopaipillas! They also have a diverse kids menu for picky eaters. I think they offer a great family atmosphere.

Service Animal Handlers BewareOn 9/21/24 we met some family at San Marcos in Newcastle for dinner. As we were walking in, the owner was chasing down my 11 year old and 15 year old daughters demanding a "card" for my 11 year olds diabetic alert dog. It wasn't until we got to the table that I see him standing over my 11 year old daughter who was a nervous wreck, that I asked him what he needed. He said "I need a card! The health department doesn't allow dogs in here without certifications and cards!" These don't exist by the way, but I sure wish they did. I said "she is a service dog and she alerts my little girl to high/low blood sugar. That's the only two things you have to know. And actually, I don't have to tell you her medical condition at all, just that she performs medical alerting and she is in fact a service dog. He said "I've never heard of such a thing as a diabetic alert dog". I said ok have you heard of a Medical Alert dog?" He said "nope". He continued to demand a card. He was being super persistent while I told him service dogs are not certified. I said but I do have a card provided by the facility that trained Osaka with her information (although he cannot ask for this said card as it isn't something required or legally exists). I handed him the card and he stared at the front and said "well there are no laws on it". I said actually there are, they're on the back". He turns the card over and says "well there are no local laws on here". I said actually there are both federal and local laws listed and where to find them. Feel free to take it and take a picture so you can educate yourself".He then did walk away and I went up to ask him his name as if he was just an employee I wanted to be sure the owner could educate him. He replied with "I'm the owner that's all you need to know". Over and over again. Then proceeded to tell me I was being rude.We had multiple people in the restaurant approach us and apologize for his behavior and say how absurd it was. We did stay and have dinner (and the adults had margaritas as he will point out multiple times in the comments) as at this point I wasn't about to allow a bully to push us out and let my 11 year olds first experience be us leaving the facility. So all this to say, if you have a service dog, be ready for some discrimination and for a card that doesn't exist to be demanded. Be ready to potentially be kicked out if you don't have said card.Service dogs being allowed in public places such as restaurants is not up for debate. If you have an issue with the law, please take that up with the ADA, I did not make it.Osaka also is not required to wear a vest, but she proudly wears a vest everywhere that states what type of medical alert dog she is (Diabetic Alert Dog). - This pic is the vest she was wearing last night.I'm not asking anyone to not go to this place. I know their food is wonderful and we love their employees aside from now the owner. We just simply want awareness spread and for people to know what the actual laws are so someone else isn't bullied and approached the way we were. Here are two actual links with information from the ADA and Oklahoma Laws on service animals:https://oklahoma.gov/content/dam/ok/en/ddco/documents/publications/Service%20Animal%20Booklet.pdfhttps://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-2010-requirements/

Bland chicken burrito, terrible and bland chicken fajitas, Mexican corn is just bad corn with a dash of pico thrown in. Salsa was just chunky tomato sauce, and the "spicy" salsa was just a warm version of the other salsa. Ted's doesn't need to worry about losing any customers to San Marcos and even La Luna down the road is safe.
