Sam's Place Southern Eatery

3.5 stars. I have seen Sam's Southern Eateries in a few locations, but I had not been into one until today. The food came in ample portions and was pretty good over all. Some in my party did not care for the tarter sauce-which is an important part of eating fried fish. The shrimp were huge and quite tasty. We also ordered a kid's meal that was a big serving for a kid, a very good value. The restaurant itself was pretty basic, nothing fancy about it, but our server was very friendly and personable.

Parking easy in dedicated lot. Interior is fairly spartan but clean, including the bathroom which was spotless.On my visit they only had to-go cups but no big deal. Staff friendly and active. Sunday afternoon crowd friendly and talkative.Food very good. Breading on fried items very light and flavorful. Not greasy. We had the whole catfish and a fish oyster combo. Excellent. Beans and rice a bit too soupy but great flavor. Canned green beans ok and coleslaw good.Hush puppies delicious as well with a touch of jalapeno.This is not fine dining but solid down home cooking. Can't understand the negative reviews.

5 stars for front of house service. It is my first time here and I am picking up some wing for my friend and me to enjoy on our lunch break. This is the test for BOH. ;)FOH was super friendly and informative. The girl who took my order and payment had a big smile and professional attitude. They make this place feel like a small town diner where everyone knows each other and asks how your momma is doing or why you weren't in church on Sunday. XDNow, I haven't tried their sweet tea. I suppose that will be the next test, if they pass the first one. The building was a Mexican restaurant while I was growing up/working in Ada. I haven't been in here since then (about 2008-9). I have always thought, when they don't convention the outside, the inside is where the effort is. Again, we shall see.The server said my order would take about 15 minutes and it looks like she was right on the money. Wings were alright. I'd have them again, most likely. There was a little more breading than meat, it's okay tho. The chicken tasted good. Fries were like Long John Silver's. Hush puppies could be better. I'll give those another chance later. Check this place out.

We luckily found this restaurant. We Loved the shrimp, the tartar sauce, red sauce, gumbo... They were understaffed our first visit and it took a little longer to get our meal. But was worth the wait. We have been back 3 times this month.

stay away the cook don't know what they're doing, I got a to go order and half of it was missing. Called them and they didn't acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and I'd just left 15 minutes earlier. Can't recommend at all, nasty seafood, if you can call it that, over salted, over fried, stay away.

They were short staffed on Mother's Day and very busy. Food was great and came out in a timely manner.

We went in on a Tuesday night around 5:30 PM and it wasn't even overly busy. We were promptly seated and handed menus. So after 12 minutes of looking at my watch with no one returning to take a drink order or food order we left. A waitress even watched us get up and leave and didn't even ask why. Seems like a pretty simple concept people come in for food and you take their order and serve them food.I doubt we'll be back unless I see them on tv getting some help from Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvin.

Very mad. No gumbo available. Appetizer amazing. Staff friendly. Only seems to be one waiter. Place looks and feels nice. Comfy chairs. Nice food over all.

I love fried catfish and Sam's knows how to do it. Extremely light batter and succulent catfish fried to perfection, as was the shrimp. Perhaps the best red beans and rice I've ever tasted. The service was top notch and extremely friendly.
