Ruby's Old Fashioned Hamburgers

Some days you just want that classic diner style comfort lunch. Cheeseburger, root beer, onion rings and slice of pie. Served to you with a cheerful smile and entertaining banter. Makes all the worries and dark clouds melt away.This is the vibe at Ruby's Old Fashion Hamburgers. Plenty of comfortable seating and big windows let the perfect amount of light cascade upon the pie showcase that greets you at entrance.An extensive menu that highlights Americana Classics: Burgers, Fries, Onion Rings, Chili, Sandwiches and don't forget the handmade pies & custom milkshakes.For this visit we had the bacon cheeseburger, hand cut fries, Rubys showstopper Onion Ring tower, fried pickles and the spicy chicken tender sandwich. A slice of coconut cream and peach pie to go... to eat at home because we were so full...but couldn't pass it up!The burger patty was thick and well seasoned, nice crust from the flat-top griddle. Vegetable toppings were fresh and crisp. Fries were pretty good, but the real winner were the Onion Rings. Well seasoned batter and fried golden brown. Not a fan of the fried pickles, to much breading, not enough pickle. The spicy fried chicken sandwich had the most unique flavor. Perfectly battered crispy fried chicken bathed in a flavorful not overly spicy sauce. Nestled on a buttery toasted bun and topped with your choice of cheese, lettuce and pickles. Big, Sloppy, and Flavorful ask for extra napkins, because your going to need them.

This was a choice made by my team to have lunch! I'm a sucker for Root Beer and theirs was really good! Good eat to start out!The appetizers were split the Haystack Basket was by far the favorite choice. The Loaded Fries need some work. Just to be honest they were not visually appealing. Although my group ate most of it there was still plenty left over. I'm sure on we'll pass them on our next visit.The burgers were good, almost everyone got a double patty and if you decide I will admit you better have an appetite.I got a Single Patty with everything on it + pepper-jack cheese. I got the 1/2 order of onion rings as my side - I would pass on the onion rings they were not my favorite. It's almost as if I would prefer the Haystack Onion Rings as the side.Everyone in the group seemed satisfied with lunch so maybe a return visit is in the future.From what I hear they get crowded on the weekends so plan accordingly!

Whilst in Tulsa this last Friday, The Boy and I decided to grab a burger and Ruby's was the closest place we had not yet been to.Seating was immediate and the staff more than friendly. Menus were traded for drink orders, and we set about trying to decide.We both went basic on this trip. The Boy doing a single bacon cheeseburger with 1/2 order of sweet potato fries, while I upped it to a double bacon cheeseburger with American Cheese, please... and a 1/2 order of haystack onion rings.Food arrived quickly enough, so we set to. The burger was incredibly well made. The meat cooked with a great crust, and the ingredients stacked respectably high. Even squashing it down, something I don't usually do, I was hard pressed to be my jaws around it. The onion rings were good, but maybe a little overcooked.The Boy's sweet potato fries.... wowzers they were good. He got the cinnamon and sugar sprinkle, and it took them right over the top.Not sure when I'd make it back to Ruby's, because it's a far piece out of my stomping grounds, but if I'm the neighborhood and it's burger time, I'd stop back by in a hot minute.

We ordered a mushroom Swiss burger & the Hawaiian burger -- BOTH did not disappoint! We enjoyed every bite even though I couldn't finish mine. Typical seat yourself diner seating and friendly folks working. I wish we saved space for a slice of their delicious looking pies, so maybe next time!

I was in the mood for a simple traditional hamburger. After a quick search, Ruby's Old Fashioned Hamburgers looked like a perfect match. I couldn't have been more wrong. The Ruby's signature burger was anything but old fashioned. There was a tall stack of fried onion rings between the buns. Now I don't mind the crazy glitz and glamor, especially the crazy presentations of food, but they have to be practical. With the presentation of the Ruby's signature burger, I had to remove the fried onion rings to make the burger remotely old fashioned. Unfortunately, the burger was average at best. No lettuce or tomatoes, just meat and fried pickles and onion rings.The service was fantastic though. The older server was so nice. I did also like the restaurant, friendly vibe. Too bad the burger at Ruby's was anything but old fashioned.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in awhile! The older lady working there made my week, she was beyond kind and friendly. I will absolutely be coming here more often! If you're looking for amazing and unique burgers and fantastic customer service; this is the place!

Since my last review, I tried their homemade root beer. It is dynamite. Today we tried the onion ring tower. It was delicious but more than we could eat. Dan and I both got bacon cheese burgers and of course, root beer. The people who own the place and their employees are extremely friendly and work hard to provide excellent service. Grammy is particularly helpful. She introduces herself to all the customers and walks around to see if anyone needs anything. She explained to us how the restaurant got its name. Her daughter and son in law own the restaurant. Her son in law's mother, Ruby, passed away shortly before they bought the restaurant, so they named it after her. This is truly a family restaurant, right down to the name. I would call the decor retro. It looks like to old time diners. It has a good vibe which is largely due to the friendliness of the owners and Grammy.

Absolutely outstanding! Highly impressed from the get go being greeted by Grammy as we entered the front door to the lovely Nora who was an amazing, friendly and personable server to the beautiful Katelynn who brought out our fried pickles! The food was very tasty and fulfilling. I gave them 5 stars simply because 15 stars wasn't available!

Phenomenal hamburgers, pies & shakes.We had triple Patty hamburger w sweet potatoes fries/ hot wings w garlic fries/ and pictured the classic Ruby Breakfast Burger-- hamburger w egg & bacon & fries with gravey over all of it! Also we had chocolate, coconut & apple pies & chocolate shake! Phenomenal & best burger place in Tulsa hands down Great service and great cafe vie

Wife and I tried last Sat. Referred by son and daughter in law. Shared big cheese burger and 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings. More than enough. Rings almost too thick. Next time will try thinner onion sticks. Absolutely great. Will go again soon. Server very pleasant. Very short wait. Surprisingly reasonably priced. (Will not tell cardiologist).
