A unique little diner on Route 66! We stumbled upon it and turns out it's been featured on food network and some gourmet magazine. Fun! Good service, good food. If you're in the neighborhood, give it a try!

This was a great place to grab a Saturday lunch. I told my wife that we'll start taking a Saturday or Sunday and try different restaurants in OK. We chose the Rock Cafe as our destination. It was an hour drive from Oklahoma City and upon arrival we parked but couldn't really locate the entrance. Once we did we were greeted and seated immediately. There were several open tables and it appeared that we may have missed the lunch crowd.A delightful server (Alyssa - no clue if we spelled her name right) guided us through the menu and made great suggestions. She checked on us periodically and at one point in time provided history regarding the restaurant. Very informative! Especially to tell the story about Betsy, the name of the grill. She even took us back to the kitchen to check it out after we finished our meal. Pretty awesome to know that the grill was the only thing left after a fire destroyed the restaurant in 2008. We decided on Fried Pickles as an appetizer they were very good. Both of us decided on the Chicken Fried Steak. It was good but to be perfectly honest a steak knife would have worked better than a butter knife. The mashed potatoes were real, the fried okra was perfectly cooked and crispy.I was pleasantly surprised that I could order dessert. Typically I don't but this time I managed to save room. We choose the Peach Cobbler to split. I found it to be overly sweet and although we ate it all it was not my favorite. After we finished eating we made a short walk to the Ed Smalley Centennial Park which is adjacent to the restaurant. A very nice tribute to those who served in the Armed Forces.

This establishment is right on historic Route 66. We had the best server ever! She was very helpful in many ways. I ended up ordering German Spatzle and Hubby ordered crispy chicken salad. We shared both items which were very tasty! Definitely worth a visit next time you are in town!

On a bucket list road trip on Rt. 66, my husband and I stopped for the night in Stroud and decided to eat somewhere with a history. The Rock Cafe fit the bill perfectly. Even though it has been rebuilt, it's true to the previous structure and has the feel of a place that has been here for a very long time. The decor is charming and relevant to its history. The staff was so friendly we felt like we could have been regulars, and the food was the definition of comfort. It's a must if you find yourself in the area.

I was here yesterday, mid-afternoon. The entire property is littered with homemade, rickety signage, a bathtub (standing upright) and lots of other items like a junk yard. The chicken fried steak is NOT fried; rather it is cooked on a flat top griddle.Guy Fieri stopped here once. So, there's that. This says nothing about the quality of food. Don't come for the food. But it may be a fun pit stop on your Route 66 road trip. Take pictures, get fast food somewhere else. This place is tired, worn out, and trashed out.

Stopped for lunch here on our way to Tulsa. They were very accommodating in light of one of us having a disability. It was our server's first day on the job, and she did great. The burger was hot & juicy, the fries large & plentiful. The host was friendly & hospitable. It's nice to support small local businesses.
