This is a great YMCA if you're visiting the Norman Oklahoma area. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the facilities should meet all of your workout needs. I used the pool for lap swimming. Even though I visited during a very busy time of day, there was a lap Available for me to swim. I typically visit this YMCA every time I'm in the area, and I highly recommend it.

I've been a member of a few gyms and not all of them have the same amenities as the YMCA offers but typically the services they do offer are maintained to some degree. This YMCA was very dated. It looks much larger from the outside, but when you enter the layout isn't very spacious. There is a long hallway to reach the check-in desk. There are a few attendants but I only noticed a single spot for you to type in your number and check-in and being my first time, I wasn't sure if it worked. I don't think they really check either. At other gyms, you check in with a receptionist or they have a card swipe/reader for you to enter and some audible indication of success or failure. This one felt a bit chaotic compared to other places. The best part about the YMCA is they offer 2 hours of childcare that you don't get at many other places. This is the most convenient option for busy parents. They also have the indoor pool centralized near the entry, but that means you get a huge whiff of chlorine when you enter and as you navigate the gym.To get to the weights, you have to snake around a bit and travel through all the treadmills, ellipticals, and weight machines before you see a smaller room that has the actual weights. It's a bit small but it wasn't crowded and so it doesn't appear that you will be waiting very long to use equipment if there aren't many people working out. Other gyms, you tend to have to wait for some of the more popular equipment and so you end up finding something free to keep exercising while constantly stalking the equipment you want to use. Aside from that, you have a 3-4 lane track upstairs with 12 laps being a mile. The surface feels like a painted concrete and it was very uneven and kind of rough. Very much reminded me of asphalt vs the tracks I'm used to. The clocks around the track are all analog and it overlooks the basketball courts. I didn't see any racquetball courts or other types of activities. I think the majority of use for this YMCA is basketball (youth leagues) and swimming. Overall, family membership prices are modest, maybe the best deal - especially if you enjoy swimming. The initial joining fees are frustrating to deal with, I don't understand why they still exist. For a single person, you might look for another place to workout. The equipment here is kind of dated and bulky. I would never use the word "fancy" to describe this YMCA.

The YMCA is an amazing experience especially for those with families. Childcare is available for 2 hours daily while you work out. They have a variety of machines in addition to workout classes, a huge pool, gymnasium and indoor track. Kids can sign up for soccer, basketball, swim lessons ...you name it. The basketball court and track are also kid friendly as long as you supervise the kiddos. They also have a playground available until 7 pm. Free swim times in the evening go until 10pm on week days which is convenient for after work exercise. Family membership is about $60 a month which is an awesome deal conferring the whole family can come!!

I recently went in to get a tour. The welcome desk attendant seemed annoyed, and after fiddling around behind the desk handed me a blue card and told me to fill it out. I told her I wasn't interested in signing up until I had toured the facilities, and she told me they were not allowed to give tours without the card being filled out. I protect my privacy and don't just give out my personal private information. I know they are not hurting for business, but this is bad business and I will look elsewhere.

I grew up using this YMCA, and I am still happy to patronize it on my visits back to my hometown. My mama loves the water aerobics classes here, and my sister takes lots of different classes (pilates to turbo kick, which sounds ridiculously hard!) The facilities are clean, and the teachers are encouraging and friendly. I'm a fan of the YMCA, and am glad it exists in Norman :)!

Loving this place! Clean faculities. Plenty of land classes. They just added Zumba to their schedule! woohoo! I also love the hours of the daycare. It give a working person enough time to be able to workout and take classes after work. The trainers and class instructors are super helpful and make sure you are doing the exercise correctly. They also have other classes that they charge a fee for. I may take up the swimming lesson classes for the kiddos soon, and I will be signing up my oldest for t-ball next month.
